It was a beautiful and sunny day, just like any other day. So far nothing outstanding had happened. So far….

Engrossed in a conversation I was not aware of my surroundings and that’s when it happened. With Ice crème in my hand I stumbled and bumped into you. As I regained my balance I noticed that my Ice crème was spread all over your shirt. “I’m so sorry”, I stuttered and my cheeks turned red. “Don’t worry,” you answered with a smile. With a beating heart I looked up and gazed into the most beautiful brown eyes I’ve ever seen. “Hey Ashley, what’s wrong?” my friend interrupted / brought us back into the present. With a “sorry” you let go of my arms. As my friend took my wrist and drags me away, I look back and wonder if we’ll ever meet again.

The following days I kept thinking about our chance encounter (zufälligen Begegnung), wondering how you have been. I was at a coffee shop just about to pay my coffee and as I was about to leave the building, you held the door open. With a “thank you”, I looked up and I couldn’t believe my eyes. “It’s him,” I thought and my heart started to beat faster. “Hi, again,” you answered and smiled at me. “Would you please wait for a second? I’ll just get some coffee,” you asked and I nodded my head. I went to the bench across the street, sat down and waited for you. “Thanks for waiting.”, you replied as you reached the bench. “My name is Jayson,” you introduced yourself. “My name is Ashley,” I replied.

On this beautiful and sunny day we exchanged numbers and agreed to meet again. To be honest I never imagined that we’d marry someday. But now I’m thankful for having you, not just as a husband but as a best friend.
