EYES

In her whole body I liked her eyes!..

These eyes were like the headlight of a car. DO NOT think that those eyes were that much prettier. Never , I can differentiate between what is beautiful and what is not ! I can say that those eyes were not so beautiful but they had a great attraction.

I met those eyes first time in the hospital. I will not mention the name of the hospital as it will not give any advantage to my story.

Just imagine that it was a hospital where I had to go to see my relative who was having his last breaths. He was about to be operated there. I usually don’t like to go to the hospitals. I get furious by listening the word hospital. But here my wife forced me to go and see the patient so I had no other option.

I was talking about those eyes which attracted me a lot. Every one has his own likings and maybe you wouldn’t like those eyes if you saw them. But when I saw that girl, I was totally impressed by her eyes. She was wearing a BURQA but her face was uncovered. I saw her big eyes, which were attracting me continuosly. Those were not big, neither too small, not blue and even not green. And were having some strange kind of glitter. I stopped as she stopped. She held the wrist of the young boy along her, and said “Can’t you walk properly?” . The boy promptly replied “ I am walking !”

After listening this I saw toward her again, and she was also looking at me with her not blinking eyes !

I moved toward her , she asked “Where is the X-ray room?”

Coincedentally my friend was working in X-ray room of that hospital, so I said to her that I can take you there follow me as I am going there. The girl and the boy started moving behind me. As we reached the room I knocked at the door. Reply came “whose there?.. don’t knock !”

I knocked again and this time he opened the door and said “oh that was you, come in”

I faced toward the girl and said come inside and let the boy stay outside.

Dr.Sadiq slowly asked me “Who is she?”

I said I don’t know her she wask asking for x-ray so I took her here.

Dr.Sadiq asked her to come toward the machine, as she moved she accidentally striked it in the dark room. Dr shouted “Can’t you see?” She remained silent.

Dr tool her Burqa off and made her stand behind the screen. And switched on the screen. As I looked from the mirror I saw her ribs. And her heart was pumiping in one corner of her chest. Dr Sadiq examined her chest and bones for nearly six minutes and then switched off the screen and made a reciept for her and then gave it to her !

The girl was covering her big sized breast, and started looking for her BURQA.

I handed it to her. Dr asked what is your name? she replied “Hanifa” , DR gave him the reciept.

As she came outside , I was unintentionally behind her.

She went out the hospital and reached the moth stand. As she told the adress I said “Oh I am also going there , I can drop you there” I also sat on the moth.

I was willing to sit with her but I thought that some one will see us. So I decided to sit on front and I asked the young boy to sit with her.

As the moth started moving , she asked me “Who are you?”

“I am Sadat Hassan Manto”

“Hassan Man go?.... What is this Manto?”

“It is a cast of Kashmiri people”

“We are also Kashmiri”

“really?”

“WE are KING WISE”

She wasa smilling. And here eyes were getting more brighter. I have seen many beautiful eyes in my life but those eyes were the best one that I have seen so far.

I confidentally ,moved away the strip of hair from her face with my hands, She didn’t mind it. I made my heart and I held her hand in my hand. She gave no reaction, and said to the young boy along her “Why are you pressing my hand?”

I left her hand quickly. “Where is your house?”

“In that market !” the boy pointed.

The moth turned toward that and in sometime we reached there house. The boy jumped off the moth.

Hanifa asked me “where is Badro?”

I asked her “ Who is Badro?”

“The boy who was with me !”

I said he is standing here. “OK” after saying this she asked Badro to take her off.

He took her off with a lot difficulties, after that I asked him “Why can’t she take her off herself?”

He replied “Because she is blind !...”
