I remember the first time I saw him. I love him. Well, I loved him.
Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm a sophomore. I have light brown hair, and wear casual clothes. I'm an introvert. I have a few good friends, maybe 4 or 5 close ones. I'm not really the type that's liked, unlike my friends, who have all the looks. Eh, I don't care. I don't have time for guys, anyway.
One morning, I got up to the sound of my little sister, Emily, only 10, crying. "What's wrong?" I asked her as I walked in her room. She looked up and sniffled. "A-a kid ca-call-led m-me stu-upid." she said between sobs. I got angry. "Who? Who is it?" I angrily asked. She answered, "R-Ryan." As soon as I heard his name, I ran to my room and grabbed my keys that my mom bought me a month ago. I took my jacket, put on my shoes, and went back in her room. "Grab your jacket. Put on your shoes." Emily looked at me, confused. "Wh-where are w-we goin-ng?" "Well, we're going to Ryan's house." Emily nodded silently. I asked her, "Do you know where he lives?" Again, she nodded. "Alright then. Now, do as I just said. I'll be waiting for you outside." Emily nodded one more time, then she got up to put on her shoes and her jacket. I walked outside.
Chapter 2As I was driving, It looked like Emily cheered up a bit. She was talking a little more and laughed at almost everyhting she saw. I don't remember if I was like that. Eh, I'll have to ask.
At one point, she stopped talking. The silence broke as she said, "Turn to the...uh.." Emily looked out the window. "Um...Oh! Turn to the right!" she said at the last minute. I turned to the right to find many houses that looked alike. "Do you, uh, remember what the street name is?" Emily nodded. "Of ocurse! It's Highland Avenue!" I nodded. "Turn to the right. Again." she said. I turned to the right again. A few more minutes of silence, and she finally yelled, "Here! This is where he lives!" Emily pointed to a house that was different form the rest of them. It was a few inches taller than the rest, being brown instead of pink. It had a backyard with a swing-set and a very small flower garden. Outside the garden, I saw a kid, around Emily's age, playing on the swing-set. "Is that Ryan?" Emily nodded. "Yeah, that's the meanie." I turned the car off and opened the door, Emily climbing out on the other side.
Emily is a girly-girl, so she cries about everything, needs everyhting ot be perfect, you know, things girly-girls would do.
Emily grabbed my hand. We walked to the house and saw that it also had a doorbell. Suddenly, a cold breeze swept through the trees and onto my face. Good thing I brought my jacket, I thought as I rang the doorbell. Behind the door, I heard yells. The door opened violently, and there stood a middle-aged man, around his late 40s. His angered face changed into a soft and perverted expression. "Hey, baby," he purred. I shivered, but luckily, he didn't see. "Um...hi?" I felt uncofortable. "What's someone like you doing here?" he asked erotically. I thought I might throw up. "Um...well, my sister here" - I nodded at Emily - "says your son called her stupid." "And he spit on me!" she exclaimed. I lloked at her. "You didn't tell me that!" I whispered. She shrugged.
The father asked, "Which one of my sons? Ryan?" I nodded. "Yes, Ryan." then the father yelled. "Ryan! Get your ass over here!" We waited for a couple of minutes until we see a boy run to the door. "What?" Ryan said as he got slapped on the back of his head. "Say sorry to this babe's sister!" I shook my head. Why the fuck is he calling me 'babe' for?
Ryan looked at Emily and whispered, "I'm sorry, Emily." the father slapped him again. "She can't hear you!" "I'm sorry, Emily," Ryan said louder. Emily nodded. "It's alright." I smiled as they made eye contact for a split second.
"Well," I said as Ryan left, "I should be going." but the father shook his head. "No. Stay." I hesitated. "But, my mom is probably worried where we are right now, so..." but he just shook his head again. "You just came here. Please. Eat dinner with us." I lloked at Emily, and could she, too, was kind of hesitating. "Eh..." I looked back at him. "Well..." Emily smiled brightly. "Yes! Thank you!" the father smiled and moved to the side for us to come in. As we walked inside, I could see him looking at me. I shivered.
The mother was in the kitchen. Whatever she was cooking, it melled good.
"Hey! Who are these lovely ladies?" the mother admired me and my sister, but she really had eyes for me. I'm telling you, I was close to walking away.
"This here is..." he looked at me. "What's your name?" I answered, "I'm Taylor. And this is Emily." he nodded. "Yeah, that's their names." the mother smiled. "You staying for dinner?" "Uh..." i risked a glance at the father. "Yeah." she smiled again. "Great! I'm making Santa Fe Bake." I tilted my head a little to the right. "Santa Fe Bake?" she looked shocked. "You never had Santa Fe Bake? Darling, your missing out!" I nodded. "Well, our mother doesn't really cook us dinner." she shook her head. "That's sad. Anyway, do whatever you want. Watch a movie, play board games, talk to Michael..." I tilted my head again. "Michael?" she smiled. "Yeah, that's my oldest son. Around your age. He's in his room." she pointed to a door down the hallway to the right. "First, call your mother. You don't want her worrying!" I let go of Emily's hand as she raced to the backyard to play with Ryan. I walked down the hallway and stood in front of Michael's door. I heard music on the other side of the door. I hesitated once more, then I kncoked.
Chapter 3I heard him yell, "Come in!" I opened his door and found him on his bed, textbooks sprawled across his bed. He looked up and froze when he saw me. I stood in silence for what felt like forever. Finally, he said, "Who are you?" "I'm Taylor," I said, smiling to be nice. He slightly smiled back. "I'm Michael."
