âKeaira, get your ass up now,â I heard my father yell as he banged on my bedroom door. I pulled the blankets from off of me and slowly walked towards my bathroom. When I finished my morning routine I picked out the most elegant outfit I had in my walk in closet. I glanced at the clock and mentally flipped when I recognized that it was 7:00 am, I had to be at my office by 7:30. I hurried into my dress and let my curly, brown hair fall on my shoulders.
Today was my first day I was going to work at âThe Morrisonâs Law Firmâ, proudly established by my father Mr. Michael Morrison. I placed my black heels on to match my black dress, running downstairs, almost falling on the way, I grabbed my keys and headed toward my new Fusion Hybrid, that my father both for my 23rd birthday this year. I hopped in playing my favorite CD, my favorite song âShe did thatâ came blasting through the car. I reached the office in exactly fifteen minutes, I was in a hurry to get to the elevator, I bumped into someone causing all their paperwork to fall out of their hands, âIâm sorry,â I told the person reaching down on the floor to pick up the papers which were now scattered everywhere. Standing ready to hand over the papers, I noticed that people were staring at the man and me with worried looks on their faces. âWatch where youâre going next time, you walking like you got two damn left feet,â the man snapped at me. He was really lucky I was in a mood today.
I stepped into the elevator anxiously awaiting it to stop on the fortieth floor, a few minutes later I hopped off the elevator and entered into my office and saw that my things have already been laid out and organized on my desk, I was grateful that I didnât have to worry about doing all that. I gazed around the office seeing that I had the most gorgeous view through the glass wall, of the tall buildings and the cars that drove speedily on the streets of Greyson Boulevard. I already knew that I would love it here. I heard a knock at my office door; I slowly walked towards it hoping that it wasnât the same guy from before. âHow may I help you?â I smiled at the gorgeous, light-skinned man with hazel eyes that stood before me. âMay I come in?â he asked in his French accent, âyeah sure,â I answered moving aside so he could enter my office. âMind my manners, my name is Sebastian Thomas,â he greeted, offering his hand to me. I placed my hand in his and watched as he lifted it placing it toward his lips causing me to blush. âMy name is Keaira Morrison,â I told him; he gave me the whitest smile Iâve ever seen. âSo youâre the bossâs daughter that everyoneâs talking about,â he said. âYes and what may I ask are the people saying about me?â I asked him since he seems to know all the happenings in the business. âNothing really they just say that youâre beautiful, which I can clearly see now and that you were supposed to start to work here from today, oh and that youâre a spoiled daddyâs girl,â he told me. âI am not,â I whined, âI just get what I want, when I want it from my dad, Iâm not spoiled.â He laughed and headed toward the door, âwait Iâm supposed to tell you that from today Iâm your assistant.â âThatâs great, just great, enjoy your day Mr. Thomas, I'll call you when I need anything and like all spoiled, stuck up bosses say âget back to your jobâ,â I joked, he walked out of the office. My cell-phone began to ring startling me, âHello, who may I ask is speaking?â I said when I answered. âMeet me in my office now,â the person on the other side of the call said before hanging up. âHow am I supposed to know who to meet when you just hung up,â I said to no one in particular. I left the office in hopes of getting any information about my mystery caller. âSebastian, some guy just called me and said to meet him in his office, do you have any idea who that might be?â he looked toward me with the same scared look that the employees on the first floor gave me. âThatâs Mr. Rodriguez, he a Brazilian merchant who deals with the wholesale trade of the company,â he told me, âand he is your Boss.â âWhat do you mean my boss, isnât there like one general boss in this company?â I inquired, trying to get as much information as possible. âNo every other person in this company works under you seeing as youâre the President of the firm you work right under the Chief Operating Officer which is our dear Mr. Leonardo Rodriguez,â he informed me, I chuckled at his sarcasm as he said Mr. Arrogantsâ name. âWhere is his office?â I asked him, when I remember that Mr. Rodriguez had summoned me to his office. âItâs on the forty-first floor, down the long hall when you see a big black door with the gold handles youâll know that youâve made it to hells gates,â he joked. âThanks,â I told him. I made my way to the elevator and to the top floor, as I made my way down the hall I could feel my heart thumping against my rib cage, I stood outside the door, hoping that he would just be in the bathroom so I would have to go back to my office. I opened the door, poking my head inside I let out a breath that I didnât know I was holding when I saw him on the phone looking out at the view of his office, his back was turned to me, one hand on his hip while the other clutched the phone tightly, he spoke in a stern and authoritative manner to whoever it was on the other side of the call. I cleared my throat in hopes to get his attention, he slowly turned toward me and I melted in my seat to see that it was the same guy whom I incidently bumped into earlier today. âIâll have to call you back,â he said before hanging up the phone, âI called you to my office fifteen minutes ago and now you decide to show up,â he barked at me. I have no idea where all my courage came from but I found it, âNow you listen to me, this is my fathersâ company and Iâm not going to sit here and watch some arrogant ass talk to me like that, I donât care if youâre the COO, you are not my father,â I stomped out of the office, leaving him speechless.
Chapter 2I sat in my office pondering on the fact that I might lose my job after what I just did. The office phone began to ring startling me and drawing me away from my trail of thoughts. âHello,â I answered shakily into the phone awaiting the voice of the man I fear the most to come from the other side of the call. âOffice,â was all he said before I heard the line cut and the call was ended. I slowly made my way to the elevator all bones in my body quivering at the thought of me losing my job on the very first day, the shame and grief I would bring to my father, made me wish I wouldnât have started this job in the first place. I wiped my sweating palms against my skirt as I stood outside the office a wave of braveness hitting me as I entered. My body quivered slightly under his intense gaze but I wasnât going to show him that I was scared, I placed my hand on my hip, mimicking his previous action from when he had his phone call, as I stood and gave Leonardo the most intense gaze I could muster within me. âSit,â he ordered, but of course I wasnât going to listen to him. âIâd rather stand,â I told him, to my surprise he had a smirk plastered on his gorgeous face, wait did I just say that I hate this guy. He stood up making his way to the front of his desk; he sat on the edge of it crossing his feet at his ankles, and his hands across his broad, but firm chest. âHave it your way then,â he said, seeming amused by my every reaction. âI guess I will; now why did you call me back into this office?â I demanded already feeling trapped by his intensity. He laughed this time, a full blown hearty laugh that caused his chest to vibrate in the sexiest way possible, what is wrong with me I canât be thinking these things. âAre you bipolar?â I asked him, not sure of what the big joke was. âNo Ms. Morrison, itâs just that you excite me,â he remarked. âWhat I excite you, what do you mean by that, in what way do I excite you?â I was not expecting him to make that statement so I needed to know what he meant by it. âNothing,â he said straightening himself into a standing position all emotions driven far from him, his eyes returning to its usual unreadable, emotionless state. âNow I know that youâre really bipolar, now if you donât mind sir, I would like to peacefully return to my job,â I couldnât think straight once Iâm in a close room with him; my mind needed space to free itself. He cleared his throat, making his way behind his desk to grab a few things before walking toward the door briefcase in hand and seemed to be going home for the day. âWhere do you think youâre going? You have at least,â I paused checking the time on my watch, âtwo more hours of work to finish before leaving here.â "Thats what you're here for,"he said, glaring at me as I was standing in front of his office door making sure he wasnât given the opportunity to leave. "No way am I going to be doing my work and yours," I snapped at him, crossing my arms across my chest. He placed his briefcase on the floor, placing both his hands on either side of my hips he lifted me from the floor turning around, placing me on the ground behind him, he bent down swiftly grabbing his briefcase and made his way toward the door, I stood there awestruck at the sparks that were now running through my body.
I walked out of the Leonardoâs office letting out a shaky breath as my heart slowed its pace. âAre you okay?â Sebastian asked me, giving me a weird look, âOh me, yeah Iâm fine, whyâd you ask?â I answered. âI
