“కమలా నీ ఇష్టానికి విరుద్దంగా నీకు హానికలిగించేటంత నీచుడినికాను. నీ హృదయంలో నేనంటే ప్రేమ లేదనే ఇన్నాళ్లు బాధపడేవాడిని కాని ఈనాడు తెలిసింది అది అసత్యమని. నువ్వు సంఘానికి వెరసి ఇలా ప్రవర్తిస్తూంటావని ఇప్పుడు నా హృదయం తేలికపడింది. ఇక నేను నిన్ను విడచి వెళ్ళిపోతాను. శాశ్వతంగా నీనుంచి ప్రపంచకం నుంచీ దూరమయిపోతాను. సంతోషంతో నిండిన హృదయంతో మరణిస్తాను” అన్నాడు.
కమల దుఃఖంతో కన్నీరు కారుస్తూ “నన్ను క్షమించండి ప్రసాద్! నన్ను క్షమించేసారని నాకొక వాగ్దానం చేయండి. ఏలాంటిఅఘాయిత్యము చెయ్యనని నాకు మాటియ్యండి”
ప్రసాద్ కఠినంగా “అలాంటి వాగ్దానం అడిగే అధికారం నీకు లేదు కమలా, నీలో నేనంటే ప్రేమానురాగా లున్నాయని తెలిసి నేను నిన్ను పర స్త్రీగా చూస్తూ నేను జీవించలేను” అని మృదువుగా “కమలా నేను నిన్ను ప్రేమించినంతగా, వాంఛించనంతగా ఇంకెవరు ఎప్పుడు ప్రేమించివుండరు. బహుశా దానికి ఇది తగిన పర్యవసానం.” అని రివ్వున బయటకు వచ్చేశాడు.
