âI donât care, human.â
I gripped Nalaâs left arm, growing angry at her for her attitude toward such a beautiful women who was a few years older. It was about time to bring the wolf out of the room.
âApologize,â Ramos spat in anger.
Nala simply didnât want to listen to her father and instead spat on Antiniqueâs lovely dress.
Antinique dropped her mouth.
âNala,â Ramos spoke with more anger.
Nala pulled her arm away from me and stormed out of the room.
âI am so sorry,â Ramos told Antinique with disappointment.
âShe just needs to get use to meâŠ. Thatâs all,â Antinique replied.
I left the room quickly as well and followed behind Nala as she kept walking.
âWhat you did in there was very disrespectful?â I told her as we both stopped in our tracks.
I watched as Nala turned toward me. We were both angry. She narrowed her eyes and began to growl like a stupid dog. I watched as she scrunched up her nose, fighting the urge to transform into her inhuman form. âDisrespectful? My father brings home a human who I have to be nice too and expects me to play the role of an innocent human girlâŠ. I donât know if you know this but Iâm not human and I donât care about any of youâŠ. I donât need a human to come and control my territoryâŠ.â
âYou sound like a territorial dog,â I interrupted.
An evil smile kind of grew on her face. âThatâs because I am and I donât want others who donât belong here to come and take over. Itâs my territory, not hersâŠ. She can live outside for all I care. This is my home.â
I began to open my mouth but Nala was gone before I could get the words out.
I roamed the palace when I ran into the young prince Simba. He was the only one of the three who seemed like his cousins but also a bit airheaded. âGreetings, Prince Simba,â I replied with a smile.
âHey, Imhotep, have you met my fatherâs wife to be?â he asked with a slight smile.
âYes I have,â I admitted.
âSheâs beautiful and just right for my fatherâŠ. I hope I could meet a woman as beautiful as she isâŠ. Almost as beautiful as a goddess.â
âYes,â I agreed. âIâm sure you will find her someday, your highnessâŠ. Whoever that lucky girl maybe.â
Simba nodded then quickly left.
I sighed but then I noticed Niki was also working the halls. The princessâs twin who hated me as much as her highness. âPrince Niki,â I spoke with another smile.
âShut up, Imhotep.â
Brat, I thought to myself. âYour highnessâŠ.â
âBack offâŠ. I hate youâŠ. Youâre nothing but a king cobra trying to work your way into a forbidden gardenâŠ. You donât belong here.â
I eyed the young prince for his comment. I was there before he was even born so he had no clue what he was even talking about. âThis is my home just as much as yoursâŠ.â
âYea soâŠ. Nala and I agree that you belong out on the street with the slaves.â
Anger grew as I continued to eye the young man.
âYouâre just food to us.â He left before he could say anything else to tick me off.
Nala and NikiâŠ. The evil twins who deserve to suffer. I began heading down the long hall as I noticed the servant girl who Nala had brutally murdered.
Her lifeless eyes locked on to me as she stared with sadness. âYou must do something about her highness before itâs too late.â
âYouâre dead,â I told her as I inched my way over to the ghoulish girl.
âShe will become worse if not destroyed.â
I stopped in my tracks as I tilted my head with confusion and concern. âWhat do you mean by that?â
âShe will become worse,â the girl repeated and then vanished before my eyes.
I stood at Nalaâs door and knocked.
âGo away!â I heard the princess shout from the other side of the door.
I had a feeling she was doing something horrible and disobeyed her order. I opened the door and worked my way into the room.
She rolled her wolf like eyes at me as I walked into the room. âI said, âGo away.â What if I was changing?â
âI had a good feeling you werenâtâŠ.â That was when I laid my eyes on the corpse of some unlucky dead animal which the princess was devouring and enjoying it from the looks of it. âWhat is that?â
She licked her lips. âCatâŠ. Want to try?â
I covered my mouth as the rotten smell of the animal and felt sick at the thought of the princess enjoying such a thing. I balled up my fist as I felt anger toward her. It was disrespectful and it felt sacrilegious for her to do such a cruel thing. âWhy are you eating the sacred animal?â
She licked her kips once more which made me flinch with disgust. âI donât care.â
âBut if other Egyptians find out---â
âI donât care.â She jumped up holding a leg as the rest of the cat fell to the floor. She walked over toward me and held up the bloody leg of fur.
It repulsed me so I quickly pulled away. âDemonic.â
She shrugged. âOh and go get a robe on, I hate starring at your bare chest, itâs creepyâŠ. And also kind of looks tastyâŠ. I donât mean in the human sexual way eitherâŠ. I actually mean if I have the chance, youâll be just like this dead catâŠ. Bloody dead half eaten.â
I stared at Nala with worry and fear; two feelings which had been new to me. I had never felt either of the two emotions until that exact moment.
âNow out.â
âYes, your highness.â I hurried out of the room as I closed the door behind me.
I sat on my bed as I thought about Nalaâs cruel and inhumane words which struck me like a lightning bolt. Evil, I thought.
Knock, knock, knock.
âCome in,â I spoke loud enough for the person to hear me.
The door opened and Maxumous walked in followed by young Lady Madeline the pharaohâs niece.
I stood up and bowed to the both of them as if I really cared.
âI know weâre not exactly friends, Imhotep, but my familyâŠ. My son, my niece, and my nephew are trying to work on a plan to element Nala for the good of Egypt,â Maxumous explain. âPlease consider helping us with our plans?â
I looked at Maxumous then to young Madeline who was a year younger than the twins. âI donât know, MaxumousâŠ. You and I both know that our agendas are quite different when it comes to the princessâŠ.â
âYes but we want the same thingâŠ.â
âAnd what will that be?â
Maxumous was quiet for a moment then sighed. âHer death.â
I had to agree with him. âOf course but our reasoning is differentâŠ. You for one want to help to protect EgyptâŠ. I could care lessâŠ. All I want is to rid Egypt of the princess and even the young prince so that I could have my rights restoredâŠ. I hate babysitting that brat and Iâd prefer to be the one who does the murdering not herâŠ. Iâm only telling you this because the both of us know my plans anywayâŠ.â
Maxumous nodded. âI know your plans and I already knew they were different from mine but think about Egypt as isâŠ. In a way youâd be doing everyone and everything in Egypt a favorâŠ.â
âI hate favors---â
âImhotep,â Madeline interrupted, âplease help us just this once?â
âListen, Lady Madeline, your plead doesnât do anything to meâŠ. I know where I stand and I know where your family stands which is why I must turn down the offerâŠ. Besides, I was threatened by that demon of a princess who looks at me as a piece of meatâŠ. I mean literally she wants to eat meâŠ. She told me that after enjoying a meal of dead catâŠ.â
âShe ate a cat?â Madeline asked in disgust as she looked away from me.
âBelieve it or notâŠ. Sheâs clearly demonicâŠ.â
âAnd thatâs why we must put an end to her tyranny,â Maxumous replied quickly. âImhotep, if you change your mind please let us know. Come on, Madeline, we must sway my brother nowâŠ.â
âBut Uncle Ramos will have it out for us,â Madeline objected as she followed Maxumous out of the room.
I watched as the door closed behind Lady Madeline as she continued to talk to her uncle. I shook my head and laid on the bed as I stared up into the sky.
I walked out into the dinning where I found the pharaohâs mistress sitting by herself drinking some kind of red wine. I diverted my eyes so I wouldnât look at her beautiful distracting skin. âGood evening,â I spoke, keeping my eyes down.
âGood evening, Imhotep,â her soft beautiful voice spoke which had me smiling. âTell me about the princess? How am I supposed to deal with that spoiled brat?â
âThat is a question Iâve been asking myself from the day she was born,â I answered. âSheâs not human and she uses that as a defenseâŠ. She took the fun I had and uses it as her way of telling everyone that sheâs unstoppable.â I kind of glanced at Antinique as she kind of nodded.
Forbidden Love
I walked with Antinique, showing the palace. I kept my eyes away from her, knowing that her beauty would distract me. âThis is the hall with the quarters for the slaves,â I told her as I used my left arm to show her.
âNice,â she replied. âWhat about the quarters for the royal family?â
âUpstairs on the fifth floorâŠ. My quarters are on the third floorâŠ. I believe your quarters are with the familyâs seeing that you are the pharaohâs mistress. It only makes sense.â
âYes. Imhotep,â I loved hearing her speak my name. Her voice was like listening to a Goddess sing.
âYes, Lady Antinique?â
âPlease just call me AntiniqueâŠ. Iâm not use to the fancy name calling.â
I smiled.
âNow do you think my quarters will be close to Nalaâs?â
âI have no ideaâŠ. Whatever the pharaoh has planned for youâŠ.â
âI have a feeling sheâd kill me in my sleep if soâŠ.â
I kind of laughed. âThe princess is an evil little brat yesâŠ. But Iâm sure that the pharaoh has a good place for youâŠ. Probably plans on letting you sleep with him.â I felt myself grow jealous of thought.
âI donât see that happening any time soonâŠ. Heâs kind of annoying to meâŠ.â
I felt an odd sensation of relief overcome my mind. âDonât you love him?â I asked, trying not to sound too eager.
âNoâŠ. I only really care about the gold and the fact that heâs the pharaoh well that just works to my advantageâŠ.â
