The Slacker,
Ready...Set....GO! The dust sprouts up, and I ask myself why? Why am I doing this? Was it my friends that dragged me into this wretched thing they call a sport, or was it because of the fact that I had nothing better to do...? Another runner swings by...its always the same... Is it because I skip practices? Another mile gone, and the spirit has also found the door. I always tell myself I will, I will, but in the end I never do. Is this why I always see the last speck of dust rise as I cross the line last?

Such lovely feelings, I wish it wouldn't stop. The ground cushions my feet as I gallop toward my fellow runner. It doesn't matter if I beat him though, or if he beats me. As long as we both have fun and give it our all! I wouldn't mind if I came dead last. All I ask is that we all have fun and enjoy this run.

The Competitor,
Three...two...one...GO! Bang, gun goes, off seven seconds, hold it, hold it, perfect! Man to the right, man to the left, accelerate, you've done this before, just think of her! Speed, speed, maintain, accelerate, you want her, but you can't have her...got to take it up a notch...She called your name, faster, faster, don't look weak, your almost there, hold, hold! I know you want her, faster, hes catching up! Pound those arms, open your stride, catch that guy! GO! GO! You see the finish line, you got to get him! Five, team, four, speed, three, posture, two, practice, one, her...
