Time currently

I walk around; slightly confused at my thought process that currently is only selecting memories from my childhood. My mind brushes bullying and sits for a second next to my friends from elementary. It sweeps by the hours of homework from just last year. Time doesn't fly. Yet in one simple blink it does pass. It always will. I mention to myself the moments where I was in the lucid feeling of complete absolute right before you totally fall asleep. I even remember the people, or guys, that crossed my mind in that moment. Although my heart settles slowly. I know my most predominate memory. I know what always comes to mind. I will never forget those moments. Often remembering the details can be an excruciating process. For a second I almost forgot. I glance to my past and inside I can see it. I can see my memories floating by, swimming in the river that is my mind and soul. I think of vivid scenes. Wearing a dress with my sisters on Easter day years and years ago. I remember my brother in a tiny suit, a park and my parents. A camera took a snapshot of this scene but it is not the reigning memory.

Back when

There it is. The beginning of kindergarten. Ms. Grey and her Delicious graham crackers. Juice boxes. Small tuffs over purses, and slight thought of trucks instead. The day ends. Noon. I slept as I rode home in my fathers comfortable vehicle. Home. Time passes, with mac and cheese to mark lunch. Waiting. Passing time until the arrival. Enter, Erick. Older by a year and already one grade up. Sweet little boy with a holey smile. First thing on his mind. Megan. He opens the door and grabs his shirt tag. He takes his tag inside with him before the door is to close.

"Megan!" He smiles.

"Erickk!" I respond trying to say the "r's" just right. I run to my brother, my friend. He wraps his arm around my neck, like the several days before. We walk outside and he tells me of every occurance a first grader can about his day. Hours pass and he still has things to say. Life will forever continue with him wrapping his arm around my neck.
