She bowed her head letting the tears filter down her face in silent dismay. A single salty sorrow fell onto the flower clutched in her hands. It was a small shimmer of white against the crimson petal. The flower hugged to her chest against her heart was plucked from the casket before her. One of a handful aunts and uncles had chosen to take as she had.
More salty sorrows began to fall as sobs around her rang out in the deafening silence of the moment. Her hands started to shake as she felt the full onslaught of loss hit her. She might have fallen to her knees if she had not looked up to the white sky. A drop of rain fell on her face sliding down her other cheek as it left a moist stream and fell to the flower.
More tears of angels fell from heaven as they watched loved ones say there last goodbyes to their beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor, friend. The girl closed her redden eyes and sent a silent goodbye up to her uncle as the rain stopped. She knew the angels had taken him after his finally goodbye. Then she fell to her knees as sorrows pelted her hands around the flower and she remembered the little heart tucked in his pocket.
"I know it isn’t much. But every stitch was made with care, every cross a memory we share. In the end its a little heart I made for you. So you will know I’ll always love you. To you my dear Uncle Tim. From me your youngest Niece Karalynn."
Her heart felt heavy as she climbed into the truck to leave the cemetery. She watched her uncle’s casket till it was out of view then looked at her flower. Closing her eyes she let one last salty sorrow fall from her eyelash and onto the flower.
