She lightly brushed the petals against her lips and inhaled the smell. She smiled and opened her eyes to look at him. His brown eyes were shimmering in the candle light with desire. The shadows that were cast across his body were sexy. He held out his hand and she took it without hesitation. He spun her in two circles making her bubbly laughter fill the empty room.

She saw the drawn curtains, his messy bed, the full length mirror on the wall, and the red candles glowing softly fly buy. He spun her again and the rose she had flew across the room and landed on his bed. The twirling ended and she slipped into his arms perfectly.

He dipped her down low enough that her dark hair brushed the floor. She saw them in the tall mirror. He was tan and tall she was small and pale. He looked like he could break her easily but the way he held her was so gentle looking. She lifted her head which brought their faces close. He gave her that half smile that took her breath away and pulled her up again.

Country music played in the background and the candles burned on softly as they stared into each otherā€™s eyes. Then he put his hand on her cheek. Closing her eyes she leaned into it feeling its warmth when she opened them he took his hand away and slowly, lightly ran his fingers down her neck and arm to her hand.

She shivered and he pulled her close wrapping her in his warm embrace. She rested her hands on his chest n felt heat radiate from under his shirt. She was still smiling and laid her head on his chest. The sound of his heart was soothing to her. She felt a light pressure on her head and it was gone as fast as it came, a kiss.

She inhaled him deeply smelling old spice collogue and roses, It was intoxicating. She exhaled with a sigh. His arms tightened around her waist and she moved her arms to wrap around his neck. She still had her head on his chest listening to the beat of his heart.

There was another pressure on the top of her head it was warmer and stayed longer; he had rested his cheek on her hair. He inhaled deeply this time to take in her sweet smell. And when he exhaled he smiled too and began to rock her back n forth to slow dance. They danced for two songs and then he took his cheek off her head and stopped moving.

She looked up into his eyes wondering why he stopped. They looked like liquid gold in the light and dazzling. He mouthed ā€œI love youā€ making tears fill her eyes. She pressed closer to him and mouthed ā€œI love you tooā€.

He closed the space and kissed her light and sweet. She responded and wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him in closer. He depend the kiss and moved his left hand up her side dragging her shirt up some. She moaned and he stopped his hand lifting it and putting on her shoulder. He swept her up into his arms never breaking the kiss. But she had to stop to get some air. When she did she was over his bed and his eyes were glowing.

He sat down on the bed with her in his lap. She smiled wide and he gave her that side smile making her catch her breath again. With a sigh she laid her head on his chest again as he leaned back on the wall his bed was against. They fell asleep like that watching the candles glow in the dark.

Aurora sighed as she looked at her homework, it was so confusing to her, and she looked up at Marceao. Heā€™s her ex but they were still friends.

ā€œWhat answer did you get for number 12?ā€

She asked him. He wrote down something on his paper and looked for the problem she mentioned.

ā€œI got 67, what did you get?ā€

She was kind of distracted by his body. The sleeveless tank top he wore was kind of tight on him, it hinted at the muscle underneath, and his arms had more muscle on them then she thought they would. It was kind of hot to her

ā€¦oh no not nowā€¦donā€™t look at him.

She thought. Tearing her eyes away from him so looked at her paper.

ā€œYeah I didā€

ā€œOKā€

He said to her. She had 2 problems to go before she finished her work. Her eyes shifted to Marceaos paper and she saw he was 10 problems away from finishing. She concentrated on the beat of the music behind her. It was soothing and she finished the problems without issues.

ā€œOk Iā€™m done and Iā€™m going to lay downā€

Marceao nodded his head and sang to a rascal flats song. Aurora stretched out on her back. The swing bed was big enough for them to sit on but if she lay down they would touch. She lay as far away from him as she could but her elbow still touched his leg. She repressed a sigh and began arguing with herself

ā€¦I miss himā€¦

no I shouldnā€™t I had my chance

ā€¦but I was so happyā€¦

She froze when there song came on the radio and Marceao stopped singing. A familiar ache started in her chest. It was painful but not as bad as it use to be. It was just a reminder of her heart break. She rolled onto her side facing away from him as her face grimaced in agony.

ā€œI wish this would have happenedā€

She said out of nowhereā€¦oh greatā€¦

ā€œYeah me tooā€

He answered her. She sat up to look at him. That was a mistake. The ache increased and her eyes burned with the warring of tears. Just then the sun came out from behind the clouds and light up his face. The bar from the swing cast a shadow over his eyes and his hair looked almost golden in the lightā€¦oh wow he looks so hotā€¦she didnā€™t even think about the next words she said because yet again she was distracted by him.

ā€œI miss you. I miss being with youā€

She felt the tears in her eyes begin to spill over and the burning increase. A lump formed in her throat and the ache in her chest went crazy tightening till the point of suffocation

ā€¦oh no I did not! I canā€™t I canā€™t do this not when heā€™s here. Pull your self together you can go catatonic when heā€™s goneā€¦

She quickly turned away before he saw the tears spill out of her eyes.

ā€œAurora Iā€™m sorry but thatā€™s the past and thereā€™s no going backā€

She felt the swing move and she saw his knee to her left. She jerked her head so hair would fall in her face hiding the tears. She began to fight herself again

ā€¦I know that!

...but I still want to go back to you

...no it wont happen you donā€™t want me back

ā€¦but I could try

ā€¦no! its not what he wants just leave itā€¦

she noticed her hands were numb and unclenched her fists

ā€¦pull it togetherā€¦

she got up and forced and even tone in her voice.

ā€œJust forget it. I shouldnā€™t have said itā€

She swallowed the lump and took a step forward. Marceao griped her arm and she froze as electricity went through her like it always did when he touched her.

ā€œIā€™m sorryā€

His voice sounded pained. She looked up at him the sun was behind him and he looked like an angle. Then his face changed and he frowned his hand was on her check whipping away the tears. She held her breath. He opened his moth to say something when her cell phone went off. She lurched away from him to grasp it

ā€¦Iā€™m sorry!

I canā€™t do this unless you want me to kiss you. And I know thatā€™s such a bad idea. So please just leave me aloneā€¦

thatā€™s what she wanted to tell him but instead she just screamed it in her head. The caller was her mother and when she answered the phone she sounded like nothing had happened.

ā€œHello?ā€

ā€œHi sweetie Iā€™m here to take Marceao homeā€

ā€˜Ok ill send him out byeā€

ā€œByeā€

ā€¦saved by my momā€¦

She turned back to Marceao and told him her mom was here and it was time to leave and she was sorry. Any response from him was cut off by her mom honking the horn. So Marceao left and Aurora felt bad

ā€¦Iā€™ll text him later about it. I never should have said anythingā€¦

she picked up her books and went inside the house.
