good friend’s better enemies

It was a hot, stifling day and tensions were running high. After the recent train robbery, crux deadlock, was counting his riches. “10, 11, 12, 13 diamonds” he said, “not a bad day in the office” he laughed to himself. Just as he was about to store the diamonds, there was an ominous knock on the door. “what do you want” said Crux. There was no reply. “I’ll give you five seconds to get of my land, you hear me” said Crux angrily. Again there was no reply. “five, four, three, two and one” said Crux pulling out his Colt 45. Just as he was about to shoot, a voice spoke. “hey, listen buddy, I’ve been sent to ask you a question” spoke a nervous voice behind the door. “Which low life sent you” Crux replied. “Drax Shadows” said the quivering voice behind the door. It was at that moment, Crux opened the door to the man and his life.

“Take a seat” Crux said, gesturing to an empty chair in the back. “So mister, what was with the change of heart”. The man responded. Crux hesitated and thought for a second and then proceeded,” let me tell you my story” said Crux.

“Me and Drax used to be part of a group called The Gunslingers, it included Me, Drax, Billy the Wiz, Jesse Longarm and Sam Deadshot. We were the toughest, badest and meanest gang around. We used to control the whole west and nothing could stop us. Until one longsome, tiring and muggy day. We had just made off with our biggest heist, 1,000,000 dollars and the price for our heads was unfathomable. We had just made it out of town, when someone tipped us off to the sheriff, and that was when the real trouble started”.

“We were running from the sheriff ad we were getting away, until one of our wheels got lodged into the road, and our wagon flipped and sent us spiralling into the air. The next thing I remembered was I was hanging off a cliff only attached by my buckle that was wrapped around a branch that I could feel bending under the pressure. That was surely the end. The branch snapped, and I let my hands loose knowing it was the end. All of a sudden, Drax’s hand wrapped around mine and he had me. “Sorry I’m late” he said. I laughed, but all I saw from his face was blankness as he stared at me and said “sorry Crux, there was only going to be one way that this could end”. He let go and I plunged 50 meters to my death, I shut my eyes and the shock on my face turned into disgust. I had blacked out due to shock. Then the next thing I know is that I was hanging upside down on a branch that was growing out of the mountain. It might have taken me 5 hours to get down safely, but in my head I knew what I had to do. Get my money back and kill Drax.

The man was sat there digesting Drax’s story, “Wow sir, that surely was an entertaining story” said the man. “So son, between me and you, where is Drax these days” replied Drax. “Well, if I told you sir, I would surely be killed. “Its fine son, no one will ever know that you told me” said Drax to the man. The man hesitated, and then took a big gulp and stuttered “Well, he’s in… Oregon”.

Drax’s eyes lit up, “Thank you, young man”. As Drax headed near the door, the young man then asked “What happens to me now, sir?”. Drax turns and gives him an ominous look. “I did say that no one will know you said it, that’s because no one will ever see you again” the man breaks out into a sweat “but sir, come on you don’t have to do this” he says. “did I mention that I’m the best gunslinger in the west” says Drax, as he pulls out his revolver and fires5 bullets into the chest of the young man. “well now you know” Drax smiles and walks out the door, with the young man falling on the floor
