I step in to the crowded hall from the small office. This is my first day at Jasper High in Jasper, Colorado. Jasper is a small town on the edge of the border line from Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas. That is the real definition, but my definition is probably more accurate. Jasper, Colorado is a town that is too small and inbred to be on the map. But if anyone in Jasper hears my definition I will probably be stoned. The stoned I meant is the actually throwing of stones at someone.

So I walk down the hall to my first class, but it’s not a class it’s Homeroom. As soon as I walked in the class went dead silent. I mean you can hear a pin drop! I walk over to the teacher and hand him a slip of paper that I need all my teachers to sign. His desk was at the other side of the classroom, so I had to walk in front of everyone to get to his desk. Mr. Mays smiles up at me with his thin lips. His deep blue eyes hold something but I can’t make it out. His sandy blonde hair is cropped short and balding on the sides. He signs my paper and points to a seat in the back of the classroom. I walk over to the desk, dropping my bag on the floor as I sit down.

The rest of the hour went by fast but one thing didn’t change throughout the entire class. My classmates wouldn’t stop turning around to stare at me. One in particular is a boy who had black spiked hair, emerald green eyes and light caramel colored skin. He is sitting in the seat to the right of me. I only know he is staring at me because my wavy brown hair doesn’t cover that side of my face. I look up in to his eyes and it seems like the world has stopped. I look back to the class to find them staring at the boy and me. I feel my face heat up and other boys smile at me.

The day seems to drag out longer than I was hoping for, but I am happy that I made a few friends. Destiny is a tall blonde, Caucasian that acts really ditsy, but she has the highest GPA in the whole school. Then there is Destiny’s counterpart, Serenity is a short brunette, African American that acts smart, but really needs help from Destiny in every subject. Serenity gets all her facts from Destiny but Destiny doesn’t care. Serenity and Destiny say that all the guys in school said that they were going to go after me, but I can’t tell why they would want to do that. I am still trying to figure that one out when I get to my house. I walk in to the small apartment that I share with my younger sister, Violet.

You see, my sister and I no longer live with our mother and father. Our parents kicked me out for no reason at all; I think they just don’t like me, so my sister came with me. Now our parents are raising the youngest child of three by themselves. I highly doubt our sister knows that she isn’t an only child. Our parents have no clue where we are and we, our parent and us, don’t care if they do. Violet is sixteen and I am eighteen, so I am her legal guardian as of the week before we started school.

Violet looks a little like me, but her hair is a light brown while mine is a dark medium brown. Her hair is curly as mine is wavy. Her eyes are a brilliant blue as mine is a really light blue almost purple. We are almost the same height; she is five foot three while I am five foot five. We share about everything, from our clothes to our make-up. We now live in a small two bedroom apartment with one bathroom.

Violet texted me after school that she was going to go to a friend’s house after school so I wasn’t expecting anyone home when I walked through the door. But when I turned on the light there was someone sitting on our couch. To my surprise it was Mr. Mays! I sit my bag down on the floor and stick my hand in my jacket pocket where I keep my phone. I am about to dial nine-one-one when suddenly Mr. Mays is standing right in front of me with my phone in his hand. With inhuman strength he crushes my brand new Samsung Galaxy S4. He drops it on the floor and throws me over his shoulder. Suddenly I am in a room that I have never seen before and I’m tied to the bed.

“W-w-what do you want?” I stutter, “W-w-what are you?”

“Well I see you have noticed I am not completely human. But the real question is what are you and why are you in my territory?” He snaps.

“I-I-I don’t know what you are talking about,” I whisper as tears roll down my cheeks.

“I don’t believe!” he yells while he advances toward me. “You know what you are a witch and you know I’m a vampire!” He smiles evilly to show me his long pointed fangs.

I try to struggle but end up just rubbing my wrists raw. He leans down toward my neck and opens his mouth. Omigoodness! He is going to bite me! Will he kill me? Suddenly a door I didn’t even know existed flies open and the spiky black haired boy from my homeroom rushes in. Mr. Mays turns around and lunges at the boy. I swear there is a fight going on but it is moving too fast for me to see anything. Next thing I know, I am staring up in to the boys face and I feel heat rushing to my face again. Why does this keep happening to me? Whenever I look at him I blush like crazy and I can’t stop. I look away from him to find myself back in my apartment. I look at him quizzically, but he just smiles.

“So let me explain…” he trails off.

He seems to be lost in thought for a while, so when he looked up at me I smiled at him. I feel an urge to go kiss him all of a sudden, but I don’t have to act on it because he seems to feel the same urge. He walks over to me, wraps an arm around my waist, and lifts me up into him. His thin lips are warm on my full lips. He pulls back breathing heavily.

“I am not human…Well I am, but I’m…special. I’m a shape-shifter. Oh and my name is Blake Moon. And you are…special, too. But you’re not a shape-shifter…You’re a witch.”

“I know Mr. Mays told me,” I interrupt him.

“Oh, well witches are humans that have special abilities. We just have to find your ability. But you are not just a witch…you are also…my Mate…” he whispers the last part and looks down.

“So wait…I have special powers and I am your mate?” he nods after I ask. “I think I can deal with that,” I say.

He looks up, surprise written all across his face. I smile at him and kiss him again. Suddenly the door flies open and Violet rushes in with a boy chasing her. Her squeals fill the room as she sees me and Blake kissing. Blake and I fly apart and we both blush a deep red. The boy that was chasing Violet wraps his arms around her waist. I give her a quizzical look that makes her blush.

“Um…Rose this is Sage Black. He is my…boyfriend,” She pipes up.

With the way I see Blake and Sage looking at each other I figured out Sage is also a shape-shifter.

“Don’t you mean Mate? Oh and this is Blake, my Mate,” I gesture to Blake.

“Yeah! Oh and did you know that we are witches?” Violet asks.

“Alpha Blake, has already told Luna Rosa,” Sage told Violet.

So Blake is the Alpha of his shifter pack? I guess Luna is another word for Alpha Female. So I’m the alpha female to Blake's little shifter pack? I guess I can get used to that.

What about the name? The thought suddenly arises out of nowhere.

Luna Rosa? It has a nice ring to it. Luna Rosa.
