My life changed on December 22nd of 2005. It was the scariest day of my life. I thought it would never happen, but it did. I still remember like it was yesterday. I still have nightmares of December 22, 2005.
I lived in North Carolina at the time. Karla was my first friend I made at school. She wanted to stay at my house one night, so my parents agreed it would be okay for her to stay. We was board so I asked if we could go for a walk.
As we were walking down the road a car had stopped us on the side. Two men were siting in the car. Both of the men were older than Karla and me.
"Would you two young ladies like a ride?" The older man said looking at Karla.
"No we are fine, we're just walking. But thank you anyways." I said back in a shaky voice.
Karla looked at the younger guy and said "What is your name?"
"My name is Tierra but everyone calls me T. And my name is Ervan." both men replied.
"I am Karla and this is my friend Corey."
I took Karla by the arm and walked to the back of the car. I asked her what she was doing talking to them men. She told me to trust her so I did.
As we were walking back to the car Karla said "Let's go for a short ride with the guys and we will be back before dark."
"I don't think that is a good idea Karla." I told her in a low voice as we was walking to the car to get in.
Karla got in first, then me not saying a word. The guys looked at me and Karla and smiled. They drove us to Ervan's house and we all got out and went inside. T had turned on some music. Karla got up and pulled me up to start dancing.
T picked me up and through me over his shoulder. I was kicking and screaming for him to put me down. He had taken me to the bedroom in the back of the house. I could still hear Karla and Ervan dancing in the living room.
It was dark and I was scared. I had no clue what was going on. I tried to get up and get out of the room, but he pushed me on the bed. I screamed, yelled for Karla, and kicked.
"Karla is doing the same thing with Ervan. She had this all planned out. She would spend time with Ervan and I got to spend time with you." T said as he was locking the door.
After a while everything was quiet. T went out of the room while Karla was coming in. Karla had asked me if everything was okay.
"I got to get home it's 9:30 at night and we had been gone since 4:00 this afternoon. My parents are probably worried. I got to get home." I said to Karla as I was walking out of the house.
"I will drive you home so you don't have to walk when it's dark." Ervan said to me.
"I don't care how I get home I just got to get home."
I didn't know what to tell my parents at first. I thought I would keep it to myself. The police man wanted to talk to me and Karla by ourselves. I told the police what had happened and he sent me to the hospital to get checked.
Karla was a good friend until that night. She turned everything around on me. She told the police I tried getting her in the car, I tried to tell her it was going to be okay. I never thought friends would turn their backs on you like she has. You can never trust your friends. Even if you had known someone all your life, a few years, a couple months, or even a day. You can never trust your friends.
