How to write a narrative paragraph

Joe: Hi

Tutor: Hi Joe, How may I help you?

Joe: I need help in narrative writing.

Tutor: Do you know what narrative writing is?

Joe: Narrative writing tells a story.

Tutor: Good. Do you know what is specific about narrative writing?

Joe: I need help here. I want to know about the specific features of a narrative.

Tutor: Let me help you. How do you start a story?

Joe: I start with an important event.

Tutor: Yes, in a narrative we tell events one by one in an order.

Joe: Is there a name for that order?

Tutor: Yes. It is called chronological order.

Joe: Yes, now I remember. Our teacher told about it.

Tutor: Do you know the steps we follow to develop narrative writing?

Joe: Can you help me?

Tutor: First choose an interesting experience.

Joe: Can it be a personal experience?

Tutor: Yes, you can narrate your personal experience or some incident that you saw.

Joe: How should I gather important details?

Tutor: There is a simple way to do this. Use the five W and 1 H questions to gather important details.

Joe: What are the five W questions?

Tutor: What, Where, When, Why and Who and How questions help to gather necessary details. One more important thing is there when you are writing a narrative.

Joe: What is that?

Tutor: We must use first person or third person point of view.

Joe: Can you help me to write a narrative?

Tutor: Yes. Do you remember any incident that happened when you are a child?

Joe: Yes.

Tutor: You can use this fish bone graphic organizer to gather details to narrate your story.

Joe: How can this help me?

Tutor: First write down the main idea of the story in the centre. Write related events one by one. This will help you to check if you are writing the incidents in an order.

Joe: Can you help with the graphic organizer to arrange details in chronological order?
Tutor: Sure. You can use this to write down.

Tutor: Here is one more graphic organizer to make your work easy.

Joe: Thanks. I can now write a narrative without much trouble.
