Edward Rousseau is a young, fresh new bachelor who's fiancée ran away with another man.
One day he sees Jane Blood, a beautiful woman with whom he shares an attraction. Jane isn't all she seems, though. She's intent on becoming the most beautiful woman in the world, and she'll do anything for it, even going so far as to beseech Aphrodite.
When there's no answer from the goddess, she tries other, more dangerous measures. Can Edward help her before she goes too far?
