In India, suicide used to be illegal and surviving family could face legal difficulties. US laws allow border guards to deny access to people who have mental illness including previous suicide attempt. In Germany, active euthanasia is illegal and anyone present during suicide may be prosecuted for failure to render aid in an emergency. Switzerland has recently taken steps to legalize assisted suicide for the chronically mentally ill. Canadians who have attempted suicide may be barred from entering the US. Ralph and Pal are medicos. They know, they both are very good friends. They live in one room and help each other in needs.

 

Ralph is reading about Suicide in the internet. He is getting serious. He feels that people are getting mad and the people going for suicide are real mental patients. He is right too.

 

"Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Suicide is often carried out as a result of despair, the cause of which is frequently attributed to a mental disorder  such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, alcoholism or drug abuse. Stress factors such as financial difficulties or troubles with interpersonal relationships often play a role. Efforts to prevent suicide include limiting access to firearms, treating mental illness and drug misuse, and improving economic circumstances. Although crisis hotlines  are common, there is little evidence for their effectiveness. Commonly used methods of suicide include: hanging, pesticide poisioning and firearms. Around 800,000 to a million people die by suicide every year, making it the 10th leading cause of death worldwide. Rates are higher in men than in women, with males three to four times more likely to kill themselves than females. Attempts are more common in young people and females. Suicide and attempted suicide is previously criminally punishable, but now it is no longer in most Western countries. It rermains as a criminal offence in many countries. Suicide bombings have been used as a military or terrorist tactic."

 

 

"It is horrible." Ralph said who is reading about suicide.

 

Pal is enjoying his music and he did not hear what Ralph has said.

 

"Pal, suicide is a fire consuming human race." Ralph said in a bigger voice.

 

"Who is committing suicide?" Pal asked casually.

 

"Anybody may be not here, but in the world many are committing suicides." Ralph said.

 

"Don’t waste my time and your time also. If somebody is committing suicide here, tell me. We will stop him from committed suicide." Pal said in a very casual tone and again he went back to his music channel.

 

"There should be no suicides in the world. Suicide is a disgusting nature in the world. Let us remove the suicide attempts from the world." Ralph said with a commitment.

 

Pal stooped listening music. He looked Ralph seriously.

 

"What is your problem?"

 

"My problem is the suicides in the world."

 

"Stop thinking about other's problems Ralph"

 

"No Pal, we must stop this suicidal behavior from the world."

Few years passed. Ralph loved a girl who is not so much beautiful. He thought that a beautiful girl can be disastrous as any other boy can love her and it may be a disaster for him.

 

The girl is not so much beautiful. She loves Ralph very much. She thought that her love will be forever. Her parents also felt happy for this love. They wanted to celebrate their wedding. The girl's name is Jasmine.

 

One day jasmine was found a patient. She is admitted in to hospital. Doctors said that Jasmine is a cancer patient. Ralph was very much upset.

 

He spent his time in the hospital with Jasmine. Jasmine is looking at Ralph with great pain.

 

"I am sorry Ralph. Pardon me. I remained as a pain in your life. I am sure, I will die. Just forget me. You will get a better girl as your life partner."

 

What Jasmine said is more painful. Ralph tried to console her.

 

"Don’t say that. You will be alright. I know the doctors here. They will give you the best treatment. You will be saved Jas," Ralph said.

 

Jasmine smiled. A dry smile is on her lips.

 

"I know we are always optimistic. We hope the best. We see what happens. We cannot stop the impending happenings. I know our doctors are not gods. They say the feel of what gods ask them to say. I know that how much you love me. We cannot stop the destiny." Jasmine said.

 

After few days, Jasmine is dead.

 

Ralph is very much upset. He cannot eat, he cannot sleep and he cannot forget jasmine.

 

Ralph felt like he lost his world. He is not coming to college. He will be in the room or on the beach where there is darkness.

 

Pal is extremely unhappy at Ralph's position. He tries to pacify Ralph. He tried his best. But he could not find a good result.

 

Ralph finally decided to commit suicide. He planned to be hanged to a large tree near old garden. It is night. Ralph went to the tree in the old garden

 

Pal is doubtful about his suicidal behavior. He just followed him to help him in need.

 

It is pitch dark around in the garden. Silence is there, except some night bug sounds spreading around.

 

The rope is tied to a branch of the tree and Ralph is about to hang. Pal is few yard behind and he wanted to run to save him. But he could not run.

 

A ghost in white dress is there who stopped him from being hanged.

 

"No suicides." The ghost laughed.

 

She is jasmine's spirit. She looked at Ralph with disgust.

 

"Are you Ralph whom I loved? You are so timid and so mentally weak person. I wondered I could not recognize that you are not bold. I pity you. Do you know, if any one has to pity on any person, that person is so much an inferior person."

 

She scolded Ralph.

 

She asked her to live bold and live like a brave person. Her words made Ralph remember what he was saying about Suicides.

 

"I am sorry Jasmine; I will live with your memories. I am extremely sorry."  Ralph said.

 

Pal came back to room. In few minutes Ralph also came back to rom.

 

Ralph does not know that Pal followed him.

 

Pal did not say that he saw the ghost of Jasmine.
