It's a dangerous world. The people in The Compound are worried about the rebels. Rebels have been taking people from the Territories, and bringing back to the camp. The ways of the rebels are a mystery to the people in the Compound and they want to learn more. And they will do anything to get the information they want.
The neighborhood kids have inadvertently started a young girl's hair on fire at the local theater...and then fled the scene of the crime. Hiding behind the neighborhood library...having the "matchgun" technology explained to two of the boys by the oldest member of the "gang"...the little snot "Dennis" spots them and blackmail ensues.
Dennis winds up with the matchgun...:)

you can call her rosalie if you want to be strangled. rose doesn't believe in Friday the thirteenth. jaymee her cousin does, to the tenth degree. rose's mom's uncle gives her his house after he dies. jaymme thinks something's up, but rose doesn't think so, she invites owen, their gay best friend to show jaymee nothings wrong. but what they find just might leave them believing jaymee. a ghost of the past named peytin was killed on this day. she tells rose that a dark power needs to be put to an end. rose jaymee and owen say ok, but will someone end up dead? this book is a series.
