He was enjoying the song, as he joined along at some parts.
âWhere ever you are, I believe that, my heart does go onâŠâ he sang this with me, with a beautiful voice.
âYouâre here, thereâs nothing I fear, and I know thatâŠâ I felt really confident in myself now, that he was singing with me, not caring who walked by.
âWeâll stay, forever this way and I know that my heart will go on and onâŠâ and then we ended the song.
I could see his eyes sparkling, and mine filled with water, I always felt sad after listening to it, it reminded me of the movie.
âYouâre a very good singer, Shannonâ He complimented.
âIâm not near as good as you are, you should like, be in a band!â I suggested.
âOh, I am, I love musicâ he said, with a smile.
âYou do? Thatâs wonderful! I play the violinâ I told him.
âWow, I play the piano, and guitar.â He said.
âYou are very talented now.â I was impressed.
âAnd Iâm lead singer.â He said.
âOkay, okay, enough showing off!â I joked.
He laughed, âYeah, alright.â
After that we did some more singing.
âOh, itâs getting late.â I said looking at my watch, and I wish I didnâtâŠ
âYeah, lets head back home, we should hang around more often donât you think?â He asked looking at me.
âTotally, youâre very fun to be withâ I said to him, âand I donât lieâ and that wasnât a lie.
We walked back to our street, and he even walked me to my house door.
âHey, thanks Luke, nice house warming partyâ I said smiling.
âYeah I bet the house is really warmâ He said jokingly, and I laughed, âYouâre welcome, all the timeâ he smiled his dazzling, breath taking one and then he put his hand on my shoulder.
At his touch, again I felt the same way, the emptiness filled with joy. He patted it gently.
âGood nightâ He said softly.
ââNightâ I replied, and he took his hand away. And the feeling went away, once more.
âSee you laterâ he said as her walked away.
I waved and entered my house. really
Everyone was sleeping, except Justin. He was watching TV so I sat next to him. âHey,â
âHeyâ He said back.
âSo, how was your date with that girl?â
âAngela?â
âYeah whateverâ
âGood, it was good.â
I got bored and went to my favourite room of the house, the Study. It was filled with my favourite books, and I would often come here, even to just think things through. I sat down with my book, on one of the chairs, and peered through the window.
That was his room. And he was there. Right before my eyes, Luke was standing in the middle of his room (which was clean!) topless! That was a sight to see now, and I was right about the six packâŠ
Anyway the thing is he saw me.
But he wasnât mad or anything⊠he smiled, it took him a moment to realise that he was standing there topless. The he turned into a scarlet red colour and quickly pulled on a shirt. I laughed, covering my mouth and shaking my head.
He took out his own book and started to read it, on his bed. I glanced out the window every now and then and he did as well, because we caught each other doing it at the same time. But soon he fell asleep. And I walked to my room. I had to text Emily about everything; she would die if I didnât tell her.
I took out my phone from my pocket and sent Emily a text message about everything.
After a few minutes I saw her reply:
Omigod!! That is sooo romantic!! You guys are totally meant for each other! Isnât that right?! Omg omg omg!!! Iâm so sure he is the one!
I rolled my eyes at her text but couldnât help smiling, and then I sent her back:
I donât think so Em, calm down, I donât think weâre more than just friends in this case, hey I g2g bye! âNight!
I changed into my Pyjamaâs and drifted to sleep.
I woke up after a good eight hours of sleep, and jumped into the shower. I got ready for school, and went downstairs. Justin was munching his cereal. I swallowed a glass of O.J and gobbled down some toast. Then we drove to school in my car, and again we didnât speak much:
Me: âSo howâs the swim team going?â
Him: âItâs fine.â
Me: âOh okay.â
Him: âRight.â
Me: âWhy donât you speak much Justin? Everything OK?â
Him: âIâm a man with few words.â
Me: âOh yeah? I think a few is exaggerating.â
And thatâs pretty much it. I mean he used to be better like two months ago. Whatever.
So we got to school, and he walked away with all his friends who were waiting for him, and I walked over to my locker. I grabbed my books and hurried away, but I ran into somebody, and my books and I fell down. I reached over to grab them, and he bent down.
âHey, oh sorry,â Michael Apologised.
âOh, its fine Michaelâ I reassured.
âNo, no itâs not, are you hurt?â He wanted to know.
âIâm okay,â
âLet me make it up to youâ
âWhat do you mean?â I asked.
âIâll take you out Friday night.â He said.
Oh noâŠ
âI⊠have plans, sorryâ I lied.
âThat can wait, Iâll be there at 7 oâclock sharpâ He said and smiled. Then he left.
I couldnât not go, that would just be mean, and he just wants to take out a friend, so what?
Anyway, soon it was lunch time. I walked to the cafeteria with Emily and Dan, and we sat at our table. I saw Luke come along, and I invited him over with us. He sat down beside me.
âHiâ I greeted
âHeyâ he said smiling âI heard youâre going out with Michael now.â
Wow, things go around this school faster than you can say Cotton Candy. Oh whatever.
âOh, um yeah, heâs taking me out on Friday. But weâre not going out.â I said quickly.
He just smiled and nodded, and I rolled my eyes.
The bell rung, after a while for the last two classes. I went to the class and sat next to Emily. She looked curious. I sighed, âWhat is it now Em?â
She raised her eyebrow, âYouâre going out with Michael Peters?â She asked shocked.
Word really travels fast in this school I thought, âHeâs just taking me out Friday night, thatâs all.â I explained.
âYou told me that you didnât like him. You said he wasnât the one!â
âEmily! Heâs not The One, okay? He just made me fall and heâs making up for that, thatâs all!â
âUm, right, and pigs can fly.â She said sarcastically, âWhy did you agree to go then?â
âWell, I told him I had plans but he wouldnât take no as an answer, so Iâll just have to goâ I said, and just before she could say anything else, the teacher came in.
The next day was Friday and I was excited to know that the first week of school was already over. But the excitement ended when I remembered that I would have to deal with Michael that day.
I went down for breakfast, and Justin wasnât there. There was a note stuck to the refrigerator with magnets. It read:
Shannon, Iâm taking the bus today, I have to be at school early for my swimming practise. Oh and I hope you refilled the gas for your car.
Justin.
Oh crap! I forgot all about that! I mean the car. Oh well, I could walk to school today.
I headed outside and started walking, when I heard a familiar voice.
âHeyâ Luke said.
âOh, hi Lukeâ I smiled his way.
âI see you need a ride?â he offered.
âOh, um, no, I need to walk todayâ I said.
âWhat? Its freezing out here, I donât think you can make it, youâre coming with me.â He said and I had no choice but to follow him because he was right, it was freezing.
I got into the passenger seat beside him and thanked him as he started to drive. We were silent for a few minutes, but he broke it then.
âUm, Shannon, can I ask you a question?â he looked a little nervous.
âSure, ask away!â I said, wanting to know his question.
âUh, I really like someone, and I donât know what to do about it, what do you think I should do?â he asked now, turning slightly red.
My heart sank a little, âOh, just tell that someone how you feel about them, and, uh, wait for what happens next I supposeâŠâ I said, after a minute.
âOkay,â he smiled, âThanks.â
âAnytime.â I replied, and he parked the car. We both got out and headed to the building. I needed to stop at the girlâs room, for some time. By the time I got out, I saw Kelly grinning near by my locker. I walked over to her.
âHey Kelly,â I said, opening my locker.
She didnât even greet me; she just went âYouâll never guess what!â
âWhat?â I asked half interested.
âLuke just asked me outâ she said all joyfully, while my mouth hung open.
Why would he choose Kelly? âUm, thatâs great, reallyâ I said, and she smiled and walked away.
Later on I met up with Emily. âHey Emâ I greeted.
âHi Shann, why the long face?â she asked.
Dan was right next to her as usual. They couldnât last a moment without each other; I donât know how they lasted all summer. I glanced up at him and back at her. âI donât knowâ I said.
She shrugged, âOkay, well Dan and I need to get to class now, weâll catch you later.â She said and pulled Dan along with her to class.
Michael came up to me. I wouldnât know what to say or do.
âHey Shannon,â He smiled.
âOh hey Michael.â I said.
âHope you didnât forget about our plans tonight,â he reminded me, again.
âYes, thanks for reminding me or else I totally forgot about it all.â I said to him.
âOh, okay, remember 7 oâclock sharp.â He said and he left. I didnât know how anything could get worse, well; I didnât know why I felt so bad after all. About Luke I mean, I should be happy for him, but there was one problem. Iâm not happy. Had I really fell in for this guy who I have only known for a couple of days? Maybe I did, but who can control who they fall in love with? Not me.
I was really down in the next classes, and even the teachers had noticed that. The bell rang for something I didnât want to face right now.
