style. With that said, here are four top SEO tips you'll want to keep in mind.

1. Site Should Load Fast

Years ago you probably could easily get away with letting your website load at a very slow pace. Google and other search engines didn't really care if a site loaded slowly or quickly. If they did, then you probably wouldn't have even noticed. However, things have changed, and if your website loads slowly, then Google will likely take this into consideration when ranking a website. This means you want to evaluate your website and remove anything that is causing it to load slowly. Check to see how fast your site loads, both on desktop devices and mobile devices, and then take action if need be.

2. Outgoing Links

Including plenty of outgoing links within your website's content is not a bad thing. A lot of people used to think it was a bad thing because it leads their website visitors to other websites. If you want to increase your website's chances of ranking well, then you should link to other websites. Make sure the content you link to is relevant. Ideally, the sites you link to should be authoritative sites. Outgoing links to authority sites can help you rank because it shows you are trying to provide your visitors with useful content.

3. Create Meta-Descriptions

A lot of people don't create meta-descriptions for each of their pages or articles they create. When you create a new web-page or post, make sure you include a unique meta-description instead of letting Google and other search engines use the first few sentences of the page or article. This is good for SEO purposes, but it's also good because the meta-description is the very first thing people see when they find a website in the search results. Keep the meta-description short, relevant, and use a keyword or two within it.

4. Social Signals

Social signals are thought to be taken into consideration when Google and other search engines are ranking sites. This means you should focus on building momentum in regards to social signals. Create content for your website and then share it via social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others. When your content is liked, shared, and talked about, it could end up meaning a boost to your website's rank in the SERPs. On that note, don't forget about YouTube. Create YouTube videos about the content you post on your site. Include keywords in the video and description and then share the videos on your social media accounts. If your site loads slowly, then take action to speed it up. Focus on including outgoing links to relevant sites and content, as well as creating meta-descriptions. Focus on social signals too, as the more attention your content receives on social media, the better your content will likely rank.

Understanding how SEO works is important to every business.

As a marketer, whether you specialize in SEO or not, youā€™re going to use it one way or another. I can say it is a lot to learn and you have to do it.

Learning and applying it to help your website, blog, and or store gain content rank.

Itā€™s a tricky thing, SEO.

One day you can use long-tail keywords to drive traffic, the next you receive large spikes of traffic without even knowing what caused it. Then you try and figure it out.

You definitely need to get an understanding of the basics. It can feel a bit bewildering trying to establish all the potential factors in play and see how it works.

Shopify has a great YouTube that explains SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization and it's a measurable, repeatable process that is used to send signals to search engines that your pages are worth showing in Google's index.

Publish High-Quality Content

You could learn and apply every single SEO trick in the world, but it wonā€™t help you gain traffic unless you publish high-quality content on your website. You just have to create relevant posts, explain niche-related phenomena, and solve usersā€™ problems.

This is why blog posts are getting longer ā€“ it takes more words to write a good analysis and cover themes from every angle. According to the research, the ideal blog post length is now around 1,600 words. However, the plain text can only get you so far.

Exploit multimedia content to make your content more attractive for an average user. For instance, product reviews generate by far the best results for online retailers. This type of video content allows users to learn more about your products or services, encouraging them to complete the purchase upon watching.

Install Yoast SEO (or a similar SEO plugin)

Yoast SEO is a free SEO plugin for WordPress and a few other CMSā€™.

Functionality wise, it does a lot like create sitemaps, optimize metadata, apply ā€œno-indexā€ attributes to specific areas of your site, and much more.

In other words, it makes the daunting technical stuff less daunting.

All in One SEO Pack and The SEOFramework are other popular Yoast alternatives for WordPress.

If youā€™re not using WordPress or any of the other CMSā€™ supported by Yoast, then head over to Google and look for the ā€œbest SEO plugin for [your CMS].ā€

Install Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free tool from Google. It lets you see how many people visit your site and how they interact with it.

To install it, sign up and paste the supplied tracking code into your website.

Read this guide (or watch this video, for nonā€Wordpress users) if youā€™re not sure how to do that.

A lot of studies already revealed the importance of SEO and here are a few stats to prove it:

As much as 93% of all traffic comes from a search engine. 75% of users never scroll past the first page of search results. More than 60% of marketers say improving SEO and growing organic presence is their top inbound marketing priority. The first position on Googleā€™s organic search results on the desktop has a 34% clickthrough rate.

EMBED VIDEOS FOR SEAMLESS ENGAGEMENT

While many people do attach images with their articles, they donā€™t even give videos a second thought. And this is immensely flawed. Why?

87% of online marketers use video content. (They would certainly be seeing some kind of benefit, right?)  More than 500 million hours of videos are watched on YouTube every day.

Use WordPress categories strategically

Just like tags, categories ensures that there is an organization of related posts. They give readers clues about the article and make it easy for website visitors to find pertinent posts on similar topics. Categories are a requirement in WordPress unlike tags which are optional.

#3: How to build backlinks. Yup, link building is still a super important part of search engine optimization. But the game has changed. Today, itā€™s all about getting white hat backlinks from authority sites in your industry. And I show you how to build legit links using proven link building strategies.

Tips on how to boost your SEO ranking
Optimize all your images with ALT tags

High-quality images on a business website enhance customer experience and also ensures that Google considers images when indexing. The use of keyword-rich titles helps Google to easily find photos of the website. Businesses with rich keywords will rank higher than those with standard file names.

Avoid the use of matching content

The websiteā€™s URL should have unique content since there is a penalty if similar content is used more than once. Businesses and individuals ought to be creative and come up with unique but relevant content for their websites.

Videos are everywhere. If you scroll through your Facebook newsfeed, every next content is in video format.

Now, this doesnā€™t mean you turn yourself into a YouTuber or something. The text is still #1 content format on the web.

What you should do is leverage on the trend and craze for videos. Use it to boost your key website performance metrics.

An easy way to do that is to embed (YouTube) videos in your articles.

Now you donā€™t necessarily have to be the creator or owner of that video.

Just embed it in the post and give the video owner a credit right below it or in the footnote.

If the video is relevant, people will watch it.

CREATE QUALITY CONTENT
Letā€™s get this one out of the way first: your content must be quality. Quality content provides immediate value to the reader. And value could mean knowledge, entertainment, or inspiration.
Thereā€™s not a set formula for quality content. You have to provide value. But here are some key characteristics:
ā€¢ Unique & Original ā€¢ Relatable
ā€¢ Well Organized
ā€¢ Easy to Consume
ā€¢ Provides Insight
Listen to your target audience. If they are commenting, sharing, and liking content on social media, you know they find value. And when thereā€™s value, thereā€™s trust in your business.

BOOST WEBSITE TRAFFIC: ORGANIC
According to Neil Patel, Google, A Moz/BuzzSumo study, HubSpot, and Search Engine Watch, longer content that provides value and satisfies the reader is more effective.
The data is clear. Long-form content gets shared more...
...and gets more organic traffic.

Think about the questions your audience has or problems they want to solve as a starting point for content ideas.
Then, take detailed, deep dives into solving those problems for your audience. Create in-depth blog posts with photos, diagrams, and charts. Shoot for 3,000 words or more.

GET MORE VISITS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA
Social Media is another great channel to gain traffic to your website. The purpose of social media should always be strategic... donā€™t just post on social media to ā€œhave a presence.ā€
For many businesses, social media can be a platform to generate blog traffic, business leads, and, ultimately, sales.
The key to social media is to provide value more than asking for things.
With that broad guideline in mind, here are 4 ways to generate traffic from your social media platforms.

SHARE YOUR BLOG POSTS
If youā€™re following this guide, youā€™re creating some amazing content for your audience. You need to share that content to get eyeballs on it.
Donā€™t just share your content once, either.
Your content wonā€™t be time-sensitive, so share your new posts 3ā€“5 times in the week after you publish. Come back and share it again a few weeks later, too.
We call this type of content ā€œevergreen content,ā€ because you can keep sharing it and providing value indefinitely.
Sharing your content on social media is also a great way to learn what your audience likes. This leads us to the next point ...

DEVELOP A PUBLISHING CALENDAR
As with blog content, we recommend creating a publishing calendar for email. An email publishing calendar will help you:
ā€¢ Send emails consistently
ā€¢ Strategically time emails
ā€¢ Coordinate email with blog content or special offers
ā€¢ Coordinate email with social media
ā€¢ Save you time to focus on priorities

USE REFERRALS TO GET MORE WEBSITE TRAFFIC
Referral traffic is any click from another website to a page on your website (thatā€™s not
