thing that had to stay just a thought in her head. Grace could never let her daughter know that George killing Alicia was not the first horrible thing he had ever done. Picking up that phone would be the hardest thing she had to do for the rest of her life.
Way before Grace had met George, he was not such the nice gentleman that he had turned out to be when they married. George had a record that was longer than Grace’s whole family tree. Grace would have never known this if she wasn’t a lawyer herself. Being a lawyer, it was easy for her to find background on people.
It was their first fight as a married couple and George got a little too mad for the tiny fight that it was, so Grace decided to find out if she was in any real danger with this man. She pulled up the page on her computer and couldn’t believe that she had married this kind of person, but then she thought that maybe he truly had changed, just maybe. Some of those things on his record were just too much to handle: armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and even attempted murder. How could he be free if he had done all of these things? How is he not in prison today? All of these things ran through her head that day and there was not a thing she knew to do about it. So she just lived with it and pretended never to have ever seen any of those things.
She never thought that she would not only be putting her own life in danger, but also her children’s’ lives. That was a big mistake is what ran through her head the day she gained the knowledge that her husband raped and murdered her child. Grace should have known to leave that man as soon as she had realized he was a criminal.
