Prologue

They say that when you fall it's really quick, nothing too long or dull just brief.Guess that they were wrong, cause when I did, it took so much time that it was like a decade had already passed.

The feeling of emptiness that reigned over me was undescriptible and that must be why when the ground was finally tangible, and that I had crashed against it, the agonising pain which had cracked though my body somehow soothed me inexplicably.

Immediately though as I regained consciousness I knew and was certain about that one fact, I an archangel of the highest rank had fell.

This was the start of my beautiful descent...

Chapter One"Mason Dwight"

------------------------------------------------------------Ariel--------------------------------------

"C'mon Miss pretty-eyes, follow me, I promise you good time," the creepy man huffed while I rushed though the dark alley only to realise that I was in a cul-de-sac.

I cursed under my breath, turning back to face the man who now had by his sides two other scary-looking men.

Just great, I thought. A dark alley…a lone girl…three creepy men…wasn’t that just perfect?

For the first time in my life, I felt scared, which was weird because in heaven, I had always been considered as bold, fearless, so how was it even possible that some mere mortals was now creeping me out? A human of all, one of the most irreverent creatures that existed. What an irony…

I, who once could have been described as a hero, was now practically whimpering in front of such an impudent person. Reverting back the memory lane, I recalled how once I could beat up anyone who came into my way and I now, I could do nothing…

Shame on me, I was now officially a disgrace.

The man who stood before me was maybe in his forties, obviously balding, a wrinkled face, his bare arms were scarred and due to his sickly pale skin, the marks were quite perceptible, he was lanky and had also bloodshot.

I doubt you can ignore me now, can you?” He asked smirking thus displaying a set of bloodied teeth.

Suddenly I had the urged to cry, right now in such a predicament, I was defenceless. As an angel, whatever was your rank, you were never showed how to fight as you could defend yourself with your spiritual power and as clear as it was right now, I was as useless as a car without its tyres.

One of them had now neared me; swiftly he had taken hold of my arm and had twisted it behind my back. I winced in pain and tried to get away, but my endeavours were in vain.

First day on earth and already in trouble! It couldn’t have been better.

I freaked out as another man took hold of my spare arm, gripping it as hardly as he could. On perceiving my agonising countenance, they all smirked.

“Sadists!” I snarled vehemently.

One of them let out a low chuckle before saying, “So she talks.”

I glared at him.

But soon my anger was replaced by anxiety and my heart started pounding uncontrollably as the man before me, took a step forward, took out a cutter and said, “Before we actually do the deed, let’s damage that pretty face of yours first.”

Immediately after hearing his words, I started struggling out of the two vicious men grips, kicking them on the way but all my attempts didn’t have much effects on them for they still stood smirking at me sardonically, as if I was just a mere prey, which in fact I was.

By that time, I hadn’t yet realised that the cutter was now just inches from my face, the man, preparing himself to scratch me when a hand, out of nowhere, stopped the process.

Regaining my senses, I watched somehow daze, as my saviour-if he could be called that-, grabbed my attacker hand and effortlessly sent him crashing against a nearby wall. The two others instead of helping their friend took to their heel without even glancing back.

I straightened having been quite shaken off by that situation and took in a deep breath.

My ‘hero’ was a quite young lad, seemed three or four years older than me but not more. He was handsome in all the finest way, with his beautiful cerulean blue eyes and slightly wavy jet black hair. His complexion was tanned and due to the fact that he was wearing a short-sleeved black tee, I noticed that he had a tattoo on his forearm.

He casted me an amused look as he realised that I was perusing him and so I blushed.

“Like what you see?” he grinned, displaying a set of white pearly teeth.

“Uh…I’m…you…thanks…” In my mind, I banged my head against a wall.

He looked at me slightly puzzled, “Was I supposed to understand a thing of what you just said?”

Embarrassed, I lowered my head and shook it.

Letting out a little laughter, he asked, “So missy what’s your name?”

“Ariel…”

He nodded before extending his hand for me to shake it.

“Nice to meet you Ariel…the archangel who obviously fell, “he finished with a tinge of amusement in his last word.

My eyes widened dramatically on hearing his words.

“How-how do you know?!”

“Well nice to meet you too Ari, the name is Mason Dwight which may sound unfamiliar to you as I am also known as Zachariel, the-“

“Oh the heaven, you’re an archangel!” I cut him off.

He smiled, “Never thought you would have figured it out and by the way I fell too.”

I could feel my lips twitched upwards but in the end I refrained from smiling.

“So it seems that it was not bullshit after all, the famous Ariel really did fall.”

I shrugged, “Seem so.”

“Pardon my curiosity but how did you?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

I stiffened and gave him a weak smile, “I don’t even know myself…”
