high alert, therefore they would demand that the government officials be waiting in town to protect them, and not in the forests hunting the lycans. We would be safe.

The full moon was in four days. It was going to be a long four days.

Walking Through Walls

Emberlynn's family was searching every inch of her house within minutes after hearing the news. They did not call the cops, as if they knew she was mixed up with something bad. They were smart, but they knew too much as it is. She never spoke to her family while I was here yet they knew everything about me. There was something going on that I did not know about. Almost as if by command I walked into a room where one of the younger kids in her family was playing alone with a toy. Never did he once actually lay his chubby hands onto that toy, yet it moved on its own, and it did not require batteries or any form of power. The child was special.

I snuck my way into Emberlynn's room, searching for her laptop. It was the one and only thing she owned that she hid from me. Her room was littered with papers and folders, nothing was organized. I creeped from corner to corner, trying to find the device. Unlike the rest of the house, thig place was trashed and even the files that covered the floor suggested that she had gotten into something really bad.

"Hey there," a voice from behind me said. I jumped, knocking over a small orange ball. "You must be the roommate that Emberlynn mentioned. My name is Garsea, obviously a relative of Emberlynn. You are?" he asked. There was something off about Garsea. His name, even his hairstyle did not feel right. To add to that, he had a strange accent that sounded old yet he appeared to be barely older than Emberlynn.

"I'm Millennia," I replied, not wanting to speak to him any further. He smiled and looked right at my eyes, and reached for them. His finger nail caught and pulled out my contact, his precision abnormal.

"I should have known about that. It was not even that hard to feel but then I got something else." Garsea continued to speak about whatever "it" was. Not bothering to hint at what he was talking about. I raised my hand to his face, and the look he gave me was foreboding. "She never told you, did she?" he asked, pushing my hand down. "I need to talk to a few others, you are going to stay right here." No I was not. The minute Garsea had left the room I tore out my other contact and went for the window. It snapped off the guide rails that were nailed in place, the sound echoed off the walls. A woman ran into the room to see me climb out the window on the fourth story. Not long after I hit the ground, glass was smashed and a creature was chasing after me. Kaire was still inside, in danger of the crazed family that Emberlynn had. I was still sprinting when another Lake crashed into me, holding a dark blue gun. He aimed directly at my head, lowered the weapon and then fired right at my gut. The bullet went straight through my flesh, hitting a tree behind me. My veins began to glow the same dark blue as the gun, spreading a great deal of pain. So many times I was getting close to death.

"Allen!" A vast majority of the family was racing towards the gunman. Before they could reach either of us, I collapsed into a heap. "We have to save her!" This woman was determined to keep me alive, despite the fact that I did not even know her name. She dragged me so that my torso was leaning against a cylindrical object.

"What's so special about her?" another screamed. The first turned around and gave a definite answer.

"Never have you once doubted me, don't start now! You know what I do!" The second gave her a look and studied my wound, shaking her head.

"There is nothing that I can do, she's reacting to the poison too violently to stop. You have to let her die," she told the first. "Wait, that does leave us with one last thing." Their eyes met for a split second. "Elise, do it. I'll send a message to Lindsey, Kimbra, and Cliff. We're gonna need them." Allen kneeled next to the women. The woman next to Elise looked right at him, and nodded. Allen stood up pointed the gun right at my head, and fired. The last thing I saw was the angry face of my brother, running at me full speed, as if he was the one that was supposed to kill me.

My eyes flew open as I pushed against the grass and rose to my feet. I was completely numb. The pain from the bullet that went straight through my stomach was gone, and that never happened that fast. It took days before I stopped feeling the bullet. Yet, there I was, standing upright with absolutely no pain.  A man stood in front of me, and so did the others, but they were kneeling over something, lifting it back into the house. Why wasn't he helping them?

"How are you feeling?" he asked me. I cocked my head, still wondering why he was here instead of with his family.

"Numb. I feel completely empty," I replied. "Why?" His eyes were filled with a gloomy type of depression, as if there was something sad going on other than Emberlynn's disappearence. "Did someone die or something?" He kept his eyes on the ground.

"My name is Cliff. I communicate with people like you," he answered. I cocked my head out of instinct. People like me? The entire family of Lakes spoke to me just fine. Unless he was an expert negotiator with lycans that were once wolves. Then again, Emberlynn was just fine around me and she was no negotiator. She was terrible at bargaining and never once let anyway tell her that she was wrong.

"What's going on?" I snapped, yelling as loud as I could. His family from behind him never even flinched, and I knew that everyone hid from me when I screamed. Was I muted to them? What exactly happened?

"Do you remember what just happened?" Cliff asked. I began to nod, but stopped. My memory was hazy, but I could make out the pain that I had felt. Then, nothing. When everything finally snapped together, I thought I had watched someone die, but could not quite pinpoint who.

"Who died?" I requested, more gentle than earlier.

"You did, but they're working on bringing you back. It may take some time, do not worry though, it will be before the full moon." Cliff's response was not what I wanted. It did make perfect sense though. I saw a gun pointed right at my head, and it fired. All the while I had believed it was someone else, that even if it was me that Allen had missed the shot. Death sent me into total denial. "Are you alright? Do you want to get inside the house?" Without a word, I nodded. Once we reached the door, I went for the handle. "You don't need to do that. You're dead, you have no physical form until they can fix this. You can walk right through a wall. I on the other hand, need that door opened." I backed away, letting Cliff turn the knob. This feeling of being dead felt all too familiar to me, as if I had actually died before this. The door creaked open. drawing the attention of everyone in the room to Cliff. He simply smiled at them, signaling that he appeared alone. Would he speak of me?

"Ah, my dear brother! You have come back!" Garsea announced. They hugged briefly before Kaire began to bark madly in my general direction. Could he see me? Or was it his senses acting up? Garsea knelt down in front of Kaire, who was now growling at the man. "Poor wolf. This is not the first time you've lost your sister is it?" Everyone went silent. The only people who were not surprised or confused seemed to be the ones who freakishly knew everything. "Avice, I can't speak to him and Martha cannot reach him. Let her go through you," he ordered. The women that nodded, Avice, closed her eyes and just like a lycan would, she turned into a wolf, a snow white wolf. She tried to talk to him, saying that they won't hurt him and that they are only trying to bring me back. Kaire was in denial and grief, refusing to let them help. He was afraid they would fail and destroy the both of us. Garsea was right, poor wolf.

As I stared and studied the Lake family, I could see something in them that I could not see before. They were all special, each of them holding their own special ability. Elise knew everything, something she called omniscience. Avice was a mutant that could turn into any animal she desired at her whim. Garsea could sense the abilities and strength of any person. Cliff could see ghosts. Allen could create weapons with his mind, always glowing as a blue color to symbolize the mental power. The boy from the room, his name was Ashe, he was telekinetic. His sister could turn invisible and the woman that was with Elise earlier had a banshee scream and was an excellent healer. Her family was huge, and they all were unique, each and every one of them. This was what Garsea had meant by Emberlynn not telling me anything about them. It was why he wanted me to stay put. He was going to explain everything to me.

Allen generated a new blue weapon, this time a rifle used for hunting. There was nothing nearby to hunt, and that meant only one thing.

"Shut the damn mutt up or I will!" he screamed. Kaire only got louder, threatening Allen. Both of them were getting agitated with the other. Why did Allen have to be so trigger happy? Looking at Cliff and then back at his family, I noticed that they were hesitant to save my brother, but it was not because of him. They were afraid of Allen, a member of their own family. He began to squeeze the trigger, ready to kill my brother. I leaped forward, grabbing the gun that I was supposed to be inable of grabbing, and I aimed. Leaning in close so that I was inches away from Allen's ear, I whispered,

"Do not ever come near my family again." Knowing he could not hear me, I dropped the rifle which then faded into nothing. To everyone except for Cliff, it looked as if the gun had been floating in mid-air, which it technically was. There was no physical form holding it in place, only a wisp of air, me.

In one moment, I remember looking Kaire in the eye, waiting for the day that I would be able actually talk to him again. The next, I feel pain. The agony that had been absent until then. There
