“Destiny,” she replied with a smile.
“Nice, my name is…” Dylan was about to introduce himself when she put her index fingers on his lip again.
“Your name is Mines Tonight,” Destiny declared. “Now drive me.”
Dylan didn’t utter another word, he just revved up the engine and pulled off.
Dylan didn’t know what she meant by taking her somewhere he normally wouldn’t take a girl to but all he could think about was that old abandoned church on Fox Wood Avenue. It was called Holy Bethlehem Resurrection Church. The church used to have a huge congregation step inside it’s’ door at one point in time. But after it got reported that the so called Minister or pastor of the church was doing all types of illegal acts like child abuse, sacrificing and trying to get members to conduct incense, people around the area got in rage and burned the church down. The members of the church either scattered, moved or were brought up on criminal charges. However, the church despite being burned still held its’ structure. People believed the church was cursed because of all the evil doings that been conducted inside so nobody ever stepped foot inside of it and the realtor of the property could never resale it. That church became Dylan’s safe haven, a place of solitude. He didn’t know how he found out about it or even why he first stepped inside but one day he just did. It was like he was drawn to the place. Some force made him go to the church and select that it is his fort of isolation.
Dylan couldn’t help but get the feeling Destiny wanted him to take her there.
Destiny was in awe when she saw the condemned church. Her smile was beyond happiness. It was like she was in Disney World.
The windows were boarded up and most of the pews were destroyed due to the fire. There was a huge padlock on the door but there was a secret entrance in the back. Dylan never knew how he found it. He just came to the church one day and then found the entrance like it was personally made for him.
“This is perfect,” Destiny said with glee.
“It is,” Dylan admitted. “I thought knowing about this place made me feel like…I don’t know…some sort of a freak or something. I didn’t even tell my friends about this place. They probably would think I was crazy for even coming here.”
Dylan looked at the upside down crucifix that was hanging on the wall.
“I just felt like I had a connection to this place for some reason,” Dylan stated.
Dylan’s heart started beating fast again and he could see his breath in condensation as a cold chill ran through him.
“Did you ever wonder why you feel the way you feel, act the way you act and think the way you think?” Destiny queried.
“Don’t we all,” Dylan responded between cold breaths. “Is it me or is it freezing in here? I didn’t feel that before.”
“Did you ever think you were different from everybody else?” Destiny asked standing right beside him looking at the upside down crucifix on the wall.
“Shit, of course I do, I’m great,” Dylan joked.
His confidence was coming back to him. He felt like he was getting energy the closer she was to him.
“You are great,” Destiny agreed. “Don’t you want to be greater? Don’t you want the world to not only eat from the palm of your hands but lick your fingers while they doing it?”
“Who wouldn’t?” Dylan smiled. The cold chill came back but this time was more welcoming like it was going through his whole body.
“I can make that happen,” Destiny whispered. “From birth, you were meant to be something different, something better. It’s been inside of you all along. Your grandfather had it and now you have it.”
“My grandfather?” Dylan was puzzled.
“Yes, your father had the gene but it wasn’t that strong in him,” Destiny reported. “It’s almost busting out of you.”
“My fa…father?” Dylan’s breathing was becoming irate.
“Yes, he was not ready to reach his full potential,” Destiny confessed. “But you are.”
Dylan was now having trouble breathing.
“What…what’s…going…on?” Dylan tried to muster.
“Your inner being trying to come out,” Destiny confirmed. “It wants to be set free. Will you set it free? Will you accept what you were meant to be? You can have it all, better than before. Don’t you want that? Don’t you deserve that?”
“I…I…” Dylan felt like his lungs were carving in.
“Tell me you want it all,” Destiny said. “And I will give it to you.”
“I…I…” Dylan was holding his chest.
Dylan looked at Destiny. He felt like he was a heart attack and she was offering the antidote for the ailment. Destiny started taking off all her clothes as Dylan stared trying to keep his heart from busting out of his chest.
Destiny stood there, naked, her body a picture of perfection.
“Don’t you want me?” Destiny said doing a model twirl so he could see every surface of her body. “Don’t you want it all? Don’t you want your Destiny?”
“Yes…yes,” Dylan finally was able to say.
Destiny smiled like she won the lottery. She ran and hugged him. He felt the warmness of her body and his breathing started to slow down. Dylan started to feel relax.
“You can have me,” Destiny whispered. “I’m yours and you are his.”
Dylan put his arms around her as she continue to hug him. Destiny kissed him passionately on the lips. Dylan felt like she was trying to take his tongue out his mouth. She finally stopped kissing him and started to kiss his neck. Dylan all of sudden felt a sharp pain. Dylan pushed her off him and put his hand on his neck that was now gushing out blood.
Destiny just starting laughing. Destiny’s eyes were now bright red and her mouth…
Destiny had two long fanged molars in her mouth that wasn’t there before and they were dripping with blood…his blood.
Destiny’s petite hands started growing long nasty fingernails. Her soft milky skin started to strip off her body revealing a whole different sinister form underneath.
“What are you?” Dylan could hear and smell his blood pulsating from his neck. “What have you done to me?”
“I’ve blessed you,” she said with a wicked smile as red liquid dropped down her mouth.
Dylan held his neck tighter and fell to the ground. The pain was excruciating but it felt pleasant at the same time. Dylan could feel his body tingling.
“You wanted this,” She informed. “You gave me permission. I gave you what you wanted.”
Dylan started to shake like he was cold but then he felt a warmness come over him at the same time.
“I…I…” Dylan tried to express words but they couldn’t come out.
“You will thank me,” she said. “I promise you.”
Dylan felt sleepy. He felt like his life was being drained away from his body.
“You made…you made me…”Dylan still tried to speak.
Blood was gushing out of his neck even as he pressed his hand against it.
“No, I’ve awakened you,” She stated with another smile. “All your life has been leading to this moment. That party, this place, meeting me was all destined for you. All set up for you to make the right decision.”
“What…what… decision?” Dylan was feeling so drained now. “I’m…dying…call…call…”
“No you not dying,” Destiny said now in her true form. “You just ready to start your real life.”
Dylan couldn’t fight it anymore. His body was getting weak. He closed his eyes and passed out.
Chapter 2: first bite
Chapter 2
Dylan woke up not being able to move. It was like his legs were jelly. His arms laid on his side limp. He was still covered in his own blood but he didn’t feel any pain.
Destiny was standing over him. She was back to her beautiful human form fully clothed though.
“Weak,” was all that Dylan could muster.
“Yes, you need to feed to gain your strength,” Destiny informed. “You don’t always need to but at your weakest, which you are now, you need to feed on the flesh of the living to gain their energy to purify you. When you are weak, you are the most vulnerable, remember that. But don’t worry you feel like this for long.”
Destiny put up a smile that looked dangerous as it did serene. Dylan just looked up at her and nodded. He just wanted to feel alive again. All he felt was thirsty.
“Hello?” Dylan heard another voice coming inside the church.
Destiny smile grew wider for a second.
“Right here, lover,” Destiny called to the person.
“What is this place?” the voice inquired coming closer to where Destiny and Dylan were. “Is this that old church that got burnt down? Damn it looks like shit. Surprised it’s still standing after all that…Dylan!”
Dylan looked up to see Kline standing next to Destiny with a look of shock on his face.
“What the hell happened to him?” Kline asked looking Dylan laid out on the floor with two puncture wounds in his neck and dry blood all over his black tee shirt and jeans. “You alright. Dylan? What the hell happened to him?”
“Remember what we talked about?” Destiny reminded Kline. “Now this is your chance.”
“Wait…you saying he’s a…”Kline tried to put it together.
“He is now,” Destiny confirmed with glee. “And you will be his first.”
“First?” Kline puzzled.
“Yes, you will be the first he turns,” Destiny lied.
“I thought you said that…”Kline was confused.
“I said you needed a top one to turn you,” Destiny interrupted. “And that’s him.”
“But he just turned himself,” Kline said looking at Dylan. “And look at him, he barely looks like he about to live much longer.”
“I told you all the prospects of being a donor,” Destiny said trying to ease Kline’s mind. “I told you all the perks and the benefits you got with the term. You can have all that power too. But you have to want it and want requires sacrifice.”
“I don’t…”Kline doubted.
“I knew you wasn’t ready for this,” Destiny said, pretending to be frustrated. “You want to be a loser that people can use and then laugh behind your back. You want to live forever in your parents’ shadow and under the influence of their money. You don’t have shit for yourself. You forever will be the Kline the Mime because you don’t say shit but just do what people tell you. Or do you want to man the fuck up?”
Kline still looked skeptical for a minute. He looked back at Dylan laying hopeless on the floor. He admired Dylan, more than he should have. Dylan had swagger and confidence. Dylan didn’t care what people thought of him but yet people still wanted to be around him. Dylan didn’t have to listen to people tell him what to do then not be around when he needed them.
“You see that man right there,” Destiny was now whispering in Kline’s ear. “He is everything you want to be. Strength and confidence, that’s what you want. You want to be someone your parents can be proud of or just another ploy for their own gain. His powers can be yours. All you have to do is…”
Destiny put one arm around Kline and gestured with her other hand for him to kneel down. Kline looked into Destiny’s beautiful green eyes and was overwhelmed by her once again. Kline
