air.
"Ohmygod, Preston, i don't know what happened are you okay!?"
Tie helped him up.
"no, your right Tie, Deven, sorry."
he left down the hall.
"who's he?" Liv asked, me.
"my boyfriend."
i grabbed her hand and led the way to the girl's rooms.
after Liv was set up, i went to my room, with Evelon.
"damn, Preston, made me want to pee my pants, but Tie made me want to run the other way, arms flapping and me screaming."
i laughed, and put my arm around my little sister.
when we woke up we got ready and went to the garden, where, we spent breakfast, since we'd burst if we ate.
"Deven!"
Liv through her arms around me.
"you look better."
i smiled and hugged her to me.
"Tatum's nice!"
she said, it as if she thought it never possible.
"gotta, be if your gonna hang with us." she said, putting an arm around me.
i hugged my big sister to my side.
Robby and Tie made there way over.
"anyone see Preston?" Tie asked.
we all shook our head, to scared to speak.
"don't feel bad, you where just doing your job, Tie," Liv said.
we all looked at her.
"What? i looked into this vampire stuff last night, check this out."
she stood in the middle of everyone.
her hair turned a glowing blonde, and fire came to her hand.
"Sick, right?" she asked, with a giddy smile
we all nodded, mouths open, including Tatum.
"i think i should be extra nice to her."
the fire burnt out and her red hair was back, and she looked down, scooting closer to tie.
me and Tatum jumped as hands came down on our shoulders.
"what?"
i bit my lip as Preston's voice, echoed through our loose circle.
"who-"
"that's Olivia. Liv." i said.
"yeah, careful, she'll blast you with fire." Tatum said, moving from under his grasp.
his hand went to my shoulder, and he squeezed.
"can i talk to you?"
my eyes got wide, and i barely shook my head.
"But i needed, Deven to show me around, she's my mentor, Mom, even put me in all of her classes."
Liv held up a piece of paper, for evidence.
"oh, see you later then." he squeezed me and left.
"you are all on probation!" i said.
i cut of their what!'s
"Liv is the only one who helped me!"
"Probation?"
"it's this thing, we do, if a person gets two strikes we don't talk to them for three day's. it helps us all be nice to each other, we actually came up with it for Tatum." Robby said.
the bell rang.
"Probation!" i yelled as Tie tried to hug me.
they all smiled at each other.
"No!"
they all pulled me in for a hug, and i smiled.
Tie, reached out and pulled Liv into our group hug.
after classes i walked to the girls dorm.
"there's some bad stuff going on right know, and if your going to be friends with us, you might be dragged in."
"okay." she shrugged.
"you may loose your life."
"really, why?"
"if your in the way of what they want, they'll kill you."
he kept our eyes forward.
"what do they want?" her voice was small.
"Me." i said, the word with hatred.
with out looking at me she grabbed my hand.
"I'm in."
once everyone was there,we got to work.
Robby walked around the coffee table, looking over our shoulders at the fake exams he made us.
Can you tell he's the brains?
after all that's going down, this kid,still had time to study, so know it's his turn to lend us his brain.
the next day we all met in the test taking room.
" Olivia, will not be taking this test." Gianna said.
"What? Why? i studied so hard!"
"alright, i'll give you a chance." she smiled her mom smile.
once everyone had a test she said, "you know the rules about cheating, you have two hours, go."
everyone in my grade opened the books and got to work.
this isn't regular exams. this is vamp exams. if we fail theses, we literary fail life.
most of the stuff on the test was on Robby's. good, i think i'd die if i failed.
and that's literary and figuratively.
"time."
everyone got up and gave the tests to Gianna.
i took a deep breath and closed my book.
i gave it to Gianna and left, running smack into Preston.
"no," he said, as i tried to escape.
he dragged me to the garden.
"why?"
"huh?"
"why would you go there with out he, you know, how i feel."
he didn't sound angry anymore he seemed... sad...like he let me down or something. or did he sound betrayed?
"i had Tie."
"Tie, can't protect you like i can."
i didn't say anything, cause i knew Tie was given gifts to keep me alive.
"Are you always going to think you can protect me the best?"
his face softened.
"yeah, and i can protect you mind to."
he was standing to close, and i took a step back and hit a wall.
he pressed his self against me.
"why do you do this to me?" he whispered.
"what am i doing?" i asked.
what was i doing?
"you make it hard to breathe."
i bit my lip. he had no f-ing idea what he did to me.
"My bed misses you."
"i bet it does."
"it does, your sent is gone."
"you know my sent?"
he backed up ever so little, and nodded.
"does your bed miss me or do you miss me?"
"i guess i do. when i miss you i smell my pillow, and now that your sent is gone..." his voice trailed off, and he kissed my neck, sending a wave of nervousness through me.
"what's wrong?" he asked.
"nothing."
"why don't you spend the night with me, so i can hold you?"
that didn't sound to damn bad right about know.
"he's back."
he pushed off of the wall and took off, in the direction of.... shit, the direction of Gianna's office.
i ran the other way.
"Hey!"
i grabbed Tatum's hand, after i bumped into her and took off the the dorms.
"i think Preston's gonna tell Gianna that Benton's back."
"What!" they all yelled.
"come again?" Liv said.
i told her everything.
"what!"
"little late for that little red." Tatum said.
"Deven, Joyce!"
"shit."
I cowered at Gianna's voice.
"Mommy!" i said, holding out my arms.
her disapproving look made me drop them.
"Did he seem weak?"
"Nope, he seemed like he was getting his shit together." Tatum said.
"you should Post guards, so he doesn't get to the school." Liv said.
Gianna left with Preston on her heels.
"since when did Preston, become a mamma's boy?" Tatum asked.
"Since he doesn't have one,." Evelon said.
"i have to-"
my friends watched as i left the room
i lay in Preston's bed.
he came in and took off his jacket.
he saw me and sat on the bed, taking off his shoes.
he got in the bed, and looked at the roof.
i slowly put my head on him.
his hand stroked my hair, and rested on my head.
he kissed my forehead, and i relaxed into him, and closed my eyes.
"Gianna want's you now." a kid said.
i followed him to her office.
"What was she doing out of the gate!"
"i- Deven, i'm so sorry." a kid said.
"what's going on?"
"Benton has Evelon." Gianna said.
