“Ri-rian?” the king gasped for air.
“Yes your majesty?” Rian asked as he gripped the king’s hand.
“G-get the a-angels out of h-here” he rasped as he clutched his wound.
“But sire-“ Rain started to say.
“NOW!” the king growled as his eyes changed to green like a cat’s.
Rian led everyone away and locked the king up in a room as he was instructed. Ten minutes pass and Rian saw the horrible transformation the king had taken. He now longer looked like the angels majesty, but a wicked demon in angel form.
Rian opened his eyes slowly as the memory faded and stood up. He was helpless to stop the sword from stabbing the king, now he was a monster because of his mistake.
“If only it had been me to take the blow,” Rain muttered under his breath as he fell asleep in bed.
Night had fallen and Demetri woke up. He glanced at Selene on his chest and wrapped his arms around her.
“I wonder how long this will last with her?” he asked himself as he sat up.
He stood up and walked to the entrance of the temple. He looked at Calamity and grabbed it as he closed his eyes. He was in a place full of grass and a lake. He saw Calamity in front of him and he pet the tiger.
“Calamity. What should I do from here?” he looked away as wind blew his hair. “We can’t stay here for the rest of our days.”
“Be on guard Demetri. I sense something coming this way,” Calamity growled as Demetri snapped back to reality.
Demetri sense someone with a strong pressure approaching. Selene sprang up as she felt it and trembled. Demetri walked to her and knelt down.
“Selene? What’s wrong?” he asked as he grabbed her shoulders.
Selene chuckled hoarsely and in fear as her bangs went over her eyes.
“The elders didn’t are not strong enough to kill me… so they sent the high power to do it,” she muttered shakily.
Demetri grabbed her in his arms and started to run deeper into the temple. Selene looked at him and then at the temple entrance.
“I won’t let you be killed!” he growled as he ran into a red room.
He shut the door and bolted it up. He turned toward Selene as Calamity growled. She had her hand on Armageddon tightly as she shook and it growled.
“Selene?” Demetri asked as he looked at her.
“Yes, Demetri?” she replied shakily.
“What is the high power?” he asked as he walked toward her.
Suddenly the door burst inwards and Demetri was slammed into the wall by the door. Dust was all around as Selene looked for Demetri. She saw his face and took a step toward him.
“Demet-“ she started to shout.
She was suddenly gripped at her throat by a hand. The man pulled her face to his as she chocked and struggled against him. It was the king and Selene’s eyes widened as she saw him.
“Selene!” Demetri shouted as he pushed the door out of his way.
The man looked at Demetri as he pulled out Calamity. The man’s tail shot toward Demetri, but Demetri blocked it quickly. Selene’s vision was fading as her breathing became shallow.
“Selene!” Demetri glared at the man with hatred and anger. “Let her go!”
Demetri grunted as the man’s tail went through his chest. The man threw Demetri into the wall hard as he chuckled.
“De-Demetri…” Selene struggled to get out.
She grabbed Armageddon and struck upwards. The man caught it and threw it aside in the blink of an eye. Demetri crawled out of the rubble as he coughed up blood. She looked at him as her vision went hazy.
The man pulled out a dagger and glanced at Demetri. He squeezed Selene’s throat tighter as she tried to take in more air. Demetri stood up, Calamity still in his hand, as he gripped his wound.
“It’s getting harder to walk,” Demetri caught himself as he coughed more. “What the hell did he do to me?”
The man pulled his hand back that had the dagger in it. Demetri’s eyes widened as he struggled to stand up. The man grinned sinisterly as he looked at Selene.
“DON’T!” Demetri shouted as he reached his out to her and forced his legs to move.
The dagger pierced her chest as Demetri screamed her name. Her eyes widened as blood ran down her cheek.
“SELENE!” Demetri went to his knees in shock. “NO!!”
The man threw her through the wall into the next room and glanced at Demetri. Demetri glared at the man as he growled angrily.
“You bastard!” Demetri growled with hatred as he stood up.
He charged at the man as Calamity’s chain wrapped around him tightly. He swung upwards and the man disappeared. Demetri gasped and spun around as he struck the man in the chest. The man growled and hit Demetri in the chest, sending him flying into the wall.
“You’re much too weak,” the man said as his wound healed.
“I… I’m not done yet,” Demetri rasped as he stood up wobbly.
He looked at Selene sadly as he clenched his hands. Her eyes were pale and lifeless and that infuriated him even more. He disappeared and punched the man in the jaw. He followed up by dropping to his knees and kicking him in the jaw hard.
The man hit the ceiling and fell back down. Demetri slashed him across the chest and sent him flying into the wall. Demetri panted hard as he saw the man’s body.
“I… I did it,” Demetri rasped.
He heard the man chuckle and his eyes widened in shock. The man stood up without a scratch on him.
“No, I hit him!” Demetri thought as he remembered how deep the slash was.
The man popped his jaw back into place and smirked as his eyes glowed.
“My turn,” he growled.
He disappeared and then reappeared behind Demetri. Demetri started to turn around, but was thrown into a wall. Demetri coughed as the dust swirled around him as he sat up. He gasped as the man appeared in front of him in an instant.
“He’s too strong!” Demetri clutched Calamity and formed a barrier around him. “I don’t know if I can kill him.”
The man broke the barrier and slammed Demetri into the ground. Demetri grunted and the man disappeared. He struggled to get on his knees as he panted heavily. Demetri froze and looked up, but was kicked across the room with the man’s knee.
Demetri landed beside Selene’s body and he coughed up blood.
“Damn it!” he growled angrily at himself.
He heard footsteps approaching and looked at Selene. The footsteps stopped and Demetri swung as he turned around. His eyes widened as the man’s tail went through his stomach. Demetri screamed as the man’s tail withdrew quickly.
Demetri went to his knees as he clutched his wound.
“This blow will finish you,” the man pulled back his hand. “I cannot fathom why they had so much trouble with her.”
Memories of himself and Selene flashed through his mind one last time.
“Selene I’m sorry,” he closed his eyes slowly. “I couldn’t protect you at all. I’m weak just like he said. Please, forgive me”
Demetri let go of Calamity and it clattered to the floor next to Selene.
Chapter 19
Awakening
The man thrust his hand at Demetri and he put his head down. A hand suddenly gripped the man’s hand, stopping the attack as the man’s eyes widened a little. Demetri opened his eyes and they widened in shock.
“Se-Selene!” he whispered in shock.
Selene growled deeply and tightened her grip on the man’s arm. She threw him into a wall and stood up. Demetri looked at her and saw that she didn’t have Armageddon unsheathed. She rushed at the man and kicked gripped his neck as she raised her hand.
“Selene stop!” Demetri shouted as he tried to stand up.
Selene thrust her hand down and tore in through the man’s arm. The man broke her arm and she screamed. The man’s arm healed and he sent her flying back into a wall.
“Selene!” Demetri shouted as he stood up.
His eyes widened as he saw black marks all the way up her arm. They looked like claw marks and her eyes were glowing blue. She rushed at the man and struck at the man left and right. The man dodged quickly and Selene tore her hand through his stomach as the man grunted.
Selene tugs her hand out and slams the man into the ground. A black mark appears on her neck and she growls angrily. She pounds the man into the ground deeper as she punches him in the stomach. The man screamed as Selene struck him with her hand.
Selene grins sinisterly and the man knees her in the stomach, sending her flying through the wall and into the adjoining room. The man stood up and wiped the blood off his chin. His wound wasn’t healing and he gripped it.
“You can’t even speak can you, former angel?” he asked as he walked toward Selene.
Demetri got in front of him with his sword out as he panted. The man glared at him and Selene rushed at him out of the rubble. She punched the man in the face and He went back.
“Selene why are….!” His eyes widened at what he saw. “Se…Selene!”
Selene’s teeth were sharp and she knock him aside with her hand. He coughed as he sat up and gripped his arm. The man charged at her and he pinned her against the wall.
“So this is why the elder’s asked me to kill you,” he smirked and leaned toward her ear. “You’re becoming like a demon.”
Selene tried to get out of his grasp and the man punched her in the stomach, making her faint. He stepped back and let her fall to the ground as her wounds healed up.
“I pity you, Selene,” he whispered and glanced at Demetri.
Demetri stood up as he coughed and glared at the man. The man sighed and began to fade away.
“I will let her live for now,” he looked at her as his chest faded away. “I want to fight her when she’s completely turned. When she has her reasoning, instead of being a blood lustful beast I will kill her.”
Demetri made his way to Selene and he grabbed her hand. He pulled her into his arms and saw the marks began to fade away. He glared at Armageddon as it glowed red.
“You were the one that was hiding her marks,” he growled as he grabbed the sword. “Why!?”
The sword growled at him, but kept silent. Demetri tossed the sword over by a pile of rubble and Selene’s marks came back.
“Selene,” he touched her cheek and then sighed. “Why did you hide these from me? Do you not trust me enough?”
An hour passed and Selene woke up as she moaned. Demetri looked at her and caressed her cheek sadly. She looked at him and knew that he had seen the marks on her arm and looked away from him.
“Where did that man go?” she asked as she remembered her getting stabbed and then nothing after that.
“He went away,” he remembered what she had looked like when she was fighting him. “What happened to you earlier when you were fighting him?”
“I got stabbed and that’s the last thing I remember,” she said as she looked at him sadly.
She grabbed her arm and pinned her on the ground angrily. She gasped when he did that and looked at him.
“Why did you hide these marks from
