Chapter 1
Man, this town is messed up
, I thought as I strolled through this brand new town that I was going to live in for the rest of my life. Gross
. Everything here is just soâŠlively. Colorful. Terrible.
Everyone here knows each other here and itâs annoying. They all say hello to each other. Four people have come up to me today saying things like âOh, youâre the new girl!â, or âDidnât you just move here? Iâd love to have dinner with your family sometime!â They probably pee and poop rainbows. Theyâre all perky, and happy. It sickens me.
I donât know exactly where Iâm going, but I must get somewhere soon. Ah, that looks like a nice little place. Tedâs Tattoo Shop.
As I walked into the store I felt eyes staring at me. I donât know if itâs good attention or bad attention but I like it. Itâs probably because of my many piercings and tattoos (which I might mention I got illegally from my brother, who doesnât even have a tattooing license).
â Um, hi,â I heard a male voice say behind me.
This wouldâve never happened back home. We donât say hi to strangers in my hometown. Donât these peoplesâ parents ever tell them not to talk to strangers?
âHey,â I returned, turning around.
He was an okay looking guy, nothing special though.
âSo, you, uh, just moved here, right?â Asked stranger boy.
Word must travel fast round here.âYeah, what about it?â I asked, annoyance clear in my voice.
âI donât know. Um, I guess I just wanted to introduce myselfâ He looked like talking to me was the hardest thing heâs ever done in his life. I swear I thought he was going to cry the minute he said another word to me.
â Yeah, well I thought Iâd introduce you to this fingerâ I retorted sticking up my middle finger in his face.
He just smiled and walked away.
What was that? God, heâs such an asshole, and I barely know him!
Chapter 2
âSo, then I tell him that Iâm not theâŠâBabbled Leiah, my brotherâs girlfriend.
I zoned out and stopped listening to my brotherâs girlfriend talk about crap that doesnât even make sense. She was going on about how sheâs scared my brother might dump her for another girl. It didnât even matter anyway, theyâve been going out on and off for the past year. They always make up after an argument, yet she always comes to me with her relationship problems.
When my brother first met Leiah I wasnât too fond of her. Itâs not that she wasnât pretty but she just clings too much. Sheâd text him a thousand times a day, hug him every time she had a chance, kiss him in public, and she laughs at everything he says. I guess the saying âopposites attractâ is true; sheâs short, heâs tall, sheâs colorful and jolly, while my brotherâs the punk type. Leiah goes to college with Josh yet she can never get enough of him. We moved here a week ago because apparently there are âbetter job opportunitiesâ. Who cares? So since Josh goes to college dad figured we could move somewhere near his dorm house. Right after we moved into this new house heâs been living with us. And Leiah too, technically.
â..Right?â She asked.
âRight, totally, youâre so right.â I replied, a tone of sarcasm in my voice.
I think she sensed the sarcasm because she sighed and went once again into my brotherâs bedroom. Heâs not even there. I think she went in there to sniff his clothes. I found her doing that once; I walked into my brotherâs room and I saw Leiah looking through his closet. She pressed one of his T-shirts to the skin of her arms and then sniffed it. I was in the doorway for about five seconds and she didnât see me. The girlâs a weirdo, but when I told my brother about what I saw he just laughed and said ânahâ drawing out the the A. I force myself to think that normal couples are like them but I can never believe myself.
âYo, what up?â Asked my brother when he came into the house.
âHeyâ I replied.
âMom and dad here?â He asked.
âNo, why?â I asked, suspiciously.
âWhat about Leiah?â
âSheâs in your roomâ I answered.
âDamnit, why wonât she leave me alone?â He muttered to himself.
âYay! Iâve been waiting for you all day, Josh!â Cried Leiah, as she came running into the living room, hugging Joshua.
Itâs true she came to our house at 6:00 am asking for Joshua. Sheâs been here ever since.
âLeiah, how many times do I have to tell you that Iâm not your boyfriend anymore. Youâre annoying.â Said Josh.
âNone of that is true. Weâre madly in love you just donât know it.â She was clearly in denial.
âWell, this is interesting,â I piped it. âKeep talking.â
Joshua sighed and went to his new room. Just down the hall I heard Leiah yelling for Josh to open the door.
âLeave me alone, you crazy, bitch!â I heard Josh yell from his bedroom.
That was a little harsh.
I still didn't get to hear what he wanted to tell me when he walked in. Fuck it.
