About Bella Emy
Letter to the Reader
Hello Reader!
I hope you enjoy Lexi and Kalen’s story & love them as you do all the original characters from the Salvation Society original series.
In this story, you’ll find a little bit of Catherine & Jackson, but mostly their daughters Erin & Kennedy.
You may even see a little bit of Natalie & Liam ;)
It was so exciting to write in this world,
& I just hope I made you all proud with my contribution.
Bella’s Heartbreakers, it took so much out of me to write this one,
and I hope you all love it like you do the rest of my stories.
I just want to continue making you guys proud!
All my love,
♡Bella
Chapter One
“A few hours to go until we get this party started!”
I laugh at my best friend’s words through the phone. “Erin, it’s a little bit longer than just a few hours.”
I look up at the clock directly in front of my desk. It’s a quarter to five on Friday afternoon. I’m so ready to get this weekend started.
Well, that’s a lie. I can’t wait to get this weekend and the upcoming weeks started. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be boarding a plane and flying back to California, where the wedding will take place. And after what seems like an eternity, I’ll be seeing my best friend, Erin Cole, once more. Her sister, Kennedy, is getting married to the man of her dreams, and they’re having a destination wedding. It just so happens that the destination isn’t so far away from their hometown.
I’ll be spending the next two weeks out there, and once I get back to New Jersey, I’ll be starting my new life. I’m leaving this job for a better opportunity in a new career. It’s risky, but owning a bar-lounge has been something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time. Sure, being a receptionist has been getting the bills paid since I’ve been on my own, but I can’t see myself doing this for the rest of my life. Yeah, my boss is great and I love him to pieces, but this isn’t my dream.
Now that I’m able to get my own little lounge, I can’t wait to get started. A week after I get back from the vacation of a lifetime, my new place will open, and I can’t wait.
“Yeah, but who’s counting?” she says, chuckling.
Obviously, the both of us are.
I look up at the clock again. Only two minutes have passed. “Why does it have to be at Starling Paradise though?” I cringe as thoughts from the past come crashing through the front of my mind.
“Because Kennedy scored a sweet deal booking the venue with someone we have known all our lives. But trust me, girl, you don’t have to worry. He’s not even going to be there.”
I bite down on my bottom lip. “I hope not. I don’t think I could face him after everything.”
“Lexi, that was so long ago. But Kalen Starling is so filthy stinking rich that I’d be surprised if he’d hang around the resort. You know he’s got maids for his maids and chauffeurs for his chauffeurs.”
She’s laughing, but honestly, she’s not joking. Kalen Starling is disgustingly rich. After a rough upbringing, struggling it out, he worked his ass off and opened his own resort and island getaway, which just so happens to be one of the hottest wedding venues and vacation spots around.
I take a deep breath and decide I’d better hang up and get my work finished so I can leave here on time. “Erin, let me call you once I get home. I need to make sure I leave everything spotless so I can take off.”
“Okay, girl. Later.”
We hang up the phone and shaking my head, I look down at the paperwork before me and try desperately to concentrate. I need to finish this one last letter for Mr. Elmers so I can be done here and then enjoy my vacation. If I want to go have fun, I’ll need to get this done and leave everything completed.
My eyes dart from the screen in front of me to the paperwork on my desk, and I highlight certain parts that need to go into the letter. I type the name Marcos Phillip Simson and then enter his address: 695 Maplewood Drive, Hicksville, New York.
I look down at the paperwork in front of me and notice I’ve made a mistake.
“Aww, fuck!” Like I can afford to make errors right now. I’m never going to get out of here if I
