family than do it. I promise you will have a fight on your hands. Do what the fuck you got to do,” I growl out. If he slits my fucking throat right now then I know my brothers will keep Dela safe.

“You’re such a stupid man. Honorable but stupid. She is worth so much more than to be just your little girlfriend,” he speaks quickly.

“You don’t know what the fuck she is worth. I do. I know she is mine and if you want her you are going to go through all of us.”

“So be it.”

Something hard hits me on the back of the head and the last thing I hear before I fade to black is the back door slam and someone whistling.

When I wake back up a good twenty minutes has already passed, I don’t know if anyone has gone to the clubhouse and tried to start some shit but I know that I need to warn my brothers.

I press a hand to the back of my head, there is a big knot at the base of my skull. I’m going to have one bad fucking headache.

I activate the hands-free while I stretch out my neck and shake the dizziness from my head.

“Djinn.” Brendan is the one who answers the phone.

“Brendan, is everything okay? Anyone try and stop by?”

“No, what is going on. I called the office for you almost an hour ago and they said you were gone already.”

“They are in on it. We’re fucking screwed.” I start up my car and slowly make my way out of the parking lot. I don’t know if I have a concussion or anything like that but the last thing I need to be doing right now is driving. I don’t have a choice, I need to get home and bunker down.

“Wait, who?”

“I don’t know how many in this location but I know Lynch is in on it.”

“Lynch as in the Assistant Deputy Director?”

“Yup, the bastard knew who Emerson was before I even had a chance to tell him. He wanted to know where Dela was.”

“This is craziness, there really is nowhere that we can go.”

“That isn’t the worst part.” I’m the president of this club, and the oldest brother. It’s my fucking job to make sure that everyone is safe and looked after, I’m about to admit to him that I put the life of Dela over everyone else. It’s not that I want them to be in danger but there is no way that I was just going to let them force us to give her back to them. Not after I know everything that has happened, everything that she has told me. “The fuck made it seem like he was going to send people after all of us, after Preston.”

“Fucking hell.” Brendan lets out a deep breath before he continues, “Well, you don’t need to worry about us, brother. You know we can handle ourselves. Preston though needs to know that he may have some snakes at his back.”

“Yeah, I’ll reach out and see if I can get a message to him some way.” There were only a few people that knew were my brother was, unfortunately I wasn’t one of them.

“We need to lockdown. No one in, no one out until we can get Dela somewhere safe.”

“You think she is going to go along with running away?” Brendan speaks softly, he must be in mixed company.

“At this point with only the few of us to protect her, she really doesn’t have much of a choice.” I pull off onto the road confident now that I’m not impaired enough that I can’t drive. “I’ll be there shortly, get everyone up to speed.”

“You got it.” Brendan hangs up the phone, and I let my foot press heavy on the gas.

All of the Boys of Djinn are in the clubhouse minus Bishop and Preston who are away on missions. As much as I don’t like keeping everyone cooped up in the clubhouse, our lives were threatened. There could actually be someone out there that is willing to do harm to us. I can’t have them just riding around, not now.

“Do you think Wire and his boys would be able to come up here and help us out?” Spark asked.

“I don’t think so, shit is pretty fucking tense with them right now. In fact, I don’t think we can count on anyone down there right now.” Usually I would reach out to Wire in a case like this but right now their entire club is upside down. I don’t even know if the man is still the president. “We have to handle this ourselves.”

“Is there anyone that we can call for backup, maybe even help getting some information?”

“No, I can’t tell you who to trust. I don’t know who has a connection with Emerson or the Children of Gaia. If the Assistant Deputy Director is part of it then I would think that some of the others would be part of it too. I can’t take that chance.” I sit down on the stool, trying to figure out the next step.

“So we just sit here with our thumbs up our asses?” Cody asks from next to me.

“Yeah, that is exactly what we are going to do. We are going to sit here and wait.” I look at Dela who is sitting on the couch. Her sad eyes just looking into the flames not paying the conversation we are having any mind. “They want her. That is their objective. If we can’t get any help from the outside than we have to make it hard as hell for them. They are going to have to come to us in order to get her.”

“If we have to burn the entire fucking forest down to keep her safe than that is what we will do. She is our top priority right now, nothing else matters,” I bark out.

“Are you sure you want to do that, brother. This isn’t going in
