A dazing rush sent the blood from Kain’s brain from the pure pleasure.
Despite his usual preference for being on top, he found himself holding onto her hips moving in time with her rhythm.
Tala’s nails dug into the flesh of Kain’s chest, her head lulled back the higher her pleasure soared. He felt right to be with.
Something inside of him reminded Tala of herself though she didn’t know what. The movement of his hips drove him deep into her warmth.
Before Tala knew it, she started screaming as the orgasm rocketed through her entire body, her muscles convulsing around his length. Her nails dug so deep into Kain’s chest, they left red marks. A few minutes after Tala experienced her orgasm, she felt her womb filled, her belly tingling at the sensation. Her hands rested on his chest in an attempt to hold herself up, her body trembling from the remnants of the intense pleasure.
Kain’s chest heaved, his mind stunned at how good Tala felt. He’d almost forgotten how nice it felt to be so intimate with another of his kind. The sting of the scratches her nails left on his chest delighted him. For once, the pain was welcome.
The trembling in Tala’s legs against his hips had Kain helping her off of him to lie beside him on the bed. He propped his head up in his hand, the other ran down her side to her thigh.
Despite her fatigue, Tala forced herself to sit up, her eyes meeting Kain’s, reminding him of his promise to let her share blood with him.
Kain sighed in exhaustion and concern. His memories weren’t the type one shared with their mates. They were full of pain, betrayal and an evil, vindictive god. If he shared blood with Tala, she’d experience every emotion Kain ever experienced. However, he gave his word and understood why she’d want to form the powerful bond mates had with one another.
“Tala, before I do this, I need you to know what you might see. It can get overwhelming and some of it, you might not be able to understand.”
Tala scooted over to Kain, bending to kiss the base of his throat. “I don’t care. I want to be with you. I want to help you deal with whatever it is you’re going through. You’ve helped me find a confidence I never knew I could. I don’t feel so helpless or shy when I’m with you anymore.”
Kain closed his eyes in preparation for Tala to take his blood. The bite of her nail against his skin did nothing to him as a thin line of crimson began to drip from his collarbone. Her warm, soft tongue relaxed Kain as it traced down the small wound. He couldn’t keep from feeling a bit nervous.
The only other lycan who knew Kain’s secrets so well was Damien.
The moment Kain’s blood met her tongue, Tala saw flashing images of his childhood. At first it seemed normal until the images shifted to his teen and older years. He spent so many hours alone except when he was with his father training.
Tears began to fall down Tala’s cheeks at the overwhelming loneliness, the sadness and isolation. She could feel the love Pentacost had for his son but at times, the images of Kain’s father looked as sad as Kain did.
As the images ran through Kain’s life, Tala stared into the burning eyes of something so evil it made her scream and jump only to be caught by Kain.
Kain held Tala against his chest as their bond formed. She thrashed against him, crying out at times. It tore his heart out to know what she might be seeing. He uttered a silent prayer to Tenebris, begging him to protect Tala and to forgive Kain for what he’d exposed her to.
It seemed like hours before Tala eventually settled down, panting and covered with sweat; her body limp.
“I am so sorry, sweetheart,” Kain whispered into Tala’s ear, rocking her in his arms. He could only imagine how she felt since he hadn’t taken her blood.
Tala whimpered, reaching for Kain’s face, her tear-stained eyes meeting his. She said nothing but took his mouth in a passionate kiss full of understanding of the pain Kain went through.
She could feel every emotion he was feeling, hear his heartbeat and see the blood running through him like the image of a CAT scan.
Kain could taste the salt of her tears in their kiss. He held her close, thankful she hadn’t fled from him. There was one thing he suspected would scare her away from him. The vampiric side of her probably served as protection against the dark god. He still didn’t understand how being a hybrid worked. They were so rare, he’d never met one.
Tala pulled away, her hand on Kain’s face. “I want you to see my past, Alex. I think we have more in common than you think.” Tala ran her thumb over Kain’s lips, pushing down his lower lip to reveal his fangs to her.
Kain closed his eyes, relaxing into the caress of her thumb over his fang. The subtle taste of copper teased his tongue. In an instant, he saw Tala’s memories in his mind.
The images of her as a pup, dejected by her pack save for her mother. Confusion when she asked her mother why everyone treated her differently or refused to look at her. Then came the image of a vampire with hair the same shade as Tala’s.
From what Kain could tell, this must be her father. Tala couldn’t have been older than five or six. She was crying, holding a teddy bear and asking her dad why her pack seemed to hate her.
Her father smiled and lifted her into his arms, promising her it was because they didn’t understand how special she was. They couldn’t see that she would one day become something great.
Kain’s heart stalled. It’d been the same thing his father
