Blitz took us around the back side of the big school and showed us through the crazy hidden doors heâd mentioned. If ya didnât know they were there, you wouldnât have a fuckinâ clueâtrellises and ivy covered âem and they just fit in with the rest of the place. The secret hallway looked kind of like beinâ in a hotel and the rooms definitely gave that appearance. I was impressed.
âSee that door?â Blitz pointed to the number six on the gold sign on one of the doors. âThatâs where your nun is gonna be later. Itâll still be about an hour before they get dropped off. Sheâll be brought to a holding suite first and then that room before the auction. FOCUS said you wanna scare her straight . . . man, if thatâs the plan, donât see her until Bish says somethinâ to ya.â
I thought about the feelings behind that idea and knew they were justified. She couldnât go back to jerkinâ me around after what we were goinâ through and lettinâ her go wasnât an option. Theyâd brainwashed her, and if thatâs what it took to shake the church outta her, Iâd do my worst. I wanted her to believe she was as good as dead. She needed to know that I moved heaven and earth to save her and that I walked through Hell to do it.
âYou bet your ass I want her scared. You donât gotta tell me twice about stayinâ away or leavinâ the ball in The Bishopâs court. His house, his rules.â
When we got situated in a room that looked way too good for us to even touch anything, Bish walked through the door preceded by a stream of cigar smoke.
âGentlemen, are you ready?â He slid into a chair that looked like it should have a stripper writhing in front of it. âIâve got things figured out and Iâm sure Blitz or FOCUS told you where your girl will be for safekeeping. Iâm taking point on this, and you just need to trust me to get the pieces set up for you two to knock down.â
Knocking âem down is good as long as they end up gettinâ knocked underground.
âYeah, Blitz told us. How exactly are we gonna know what to do and where to be? Iâm just about salivating to get my hands on these cocksuckers.â I lit a smoke and stood to pace around. It was gonna take hours for everything to fall into place and patience wasnât a virtue I had much of. âItâs one thing for you to help . . . believe me, Iâll never forget it . . . but Iâve got a really big hard-on for these pieces of shit. I need to be the executioner, the one to give them the last rites they donât even deserve for what theyâve done. Iâll do it my way!â
Bish shook his head and drew on the cigar. He wasnât ruffled at all, but it wasnât his fight entirely.
âDonât worry, Crucifix. When the time comes, youâll get the priests and, from what I understand, an older nun. I will get those who betrayed me and put my entire operation in jeopardy. For the time being, I need you to wait and trust that things will go exactly as Iâve planned.â
âWait . . . an older nun?â Could it be that fuckinâ cunt? âTwo priests and a nun? Did you get names?â
I didnât know how he got his information, and it didnât matter. We had a jumpstart and knowledge was the key.
âIt seems that the traitors in my circle have a traitor of their own. The names I was given were Lombardi, Foley, and a Sister Antoinette. They are yours and youâll have the entire basement at your disposal.â
My heart was racinâ. Lombardi and that fuckinâ skeeze! I wondered if the Foley was Sean, whom weâd come up with in the orphanage. That prick was always lickinâ the priestsâ asses and I was almost sure he was the one who ratted me out. Iâd know him on sight. They had to have been gunninâ for Fi, expecially if that slimebag was involved. Weâd been friends at one point and his dick was just as dirty as mine. He never got her and that chapped his ass. Gettinâ rid of me was probably an attempt to have her to himself. Dumb Irish prick never had a chance.
âI think I know them all. Weâre takinâ âem out . . . I just want it to be FOCUS and me doinâ the deed . . . hope that fits with your plan because itâs non-negotiable.â I looked over at Casket and Hazard. âSorry, guys. Itâs gotta be this way.â
The Bishop stared into me and saw that I was serious about not budginâ. It was gonna get taken care of, no matter what. I didnât wanna get into a pissinâ contest with him, but it was one of the last things I might get to do with my partner in crime at my six. I was lucky to have FOCUS there. He was also the sergeant at arms and in any other situation, itâd be the two of us.
âI have no complaints about that other than one stipulation. Blitz will join you as back-up just in case. The two of you will get your private time with the clergy, but heâll be the one to extract the other nuns. My understanding is there will only be two others. Both of your guys can drive Sister Fiona out of here and go back to the City. Then Iâll give those three scumbags over to you.â He got up, walked toward me, and extended his hand. âIs that satisfactory?â
I hadnât thought about how weâd get her out of there while I took care of them. She could watch me slit their throats if she wanted, but it wouldnât
