I’ll be here in the outpost and I’ll take them with me wherever I go.”

“Good.”

“Now get back in bed, Captain.” I grinned. “That’s an order.”

Theia still had her feet planted defiantly on the floor.

I chuckled, “Do I need to put you there myself? I will if I have to.”

“No, I can manage,” she smirked a smile and slid herself back up onto the bed with her athletic arms.

I noticed a triangle of rumpled sheet and blanket were hanging half off the bed. Wanting any excuse to spend a few more moments with Theia, I walked back to straighten them.

“What are you doing, my king?” Theia asked. “That’s maid’s work.”

“That doesn’t make it any less important.” I spent another minute straightening and smoothing the covers around her. “How’s that?”

“Perfect, my king,” she smiled warmly.

“Okay, I better go.” I didn’t want to leave and could easily fall into her smile for a few hours or weeks or a lifetime.

The look in Theia’s gorgeous green eyes and the hint of disappointment softening her features said she didn’t want me leaving either. Not without her by my side.

But I didn’t have a choice.

She wasn’t the only one who had a duty to others.

“See you soon,” I said and walked out of Theia’s exam room with a heavy head and heavier heart.

Experiencing the growth of love and grim death on the same day was… confusing and difficult to say the least.

—: Chapter 47 :—

SKREEEEEEECH!

The off-white and naked demon guardswomen shrieked inside the hexagonal holding cell. The hexagonal cell windows created a floor-to-ceiling glass cage in front. Solid walls enclosed the back.

Even with the windows muting the demons’ shrill screams, the cringe-worthy sound was thousands of rusty nails on chalkboards. These were the unfortunate women who had been transformed during today’s battle by the white CyberKnight’s mutating lance.

“What should we do with them?” Colonel Sadys asked.

“I have no idea,” I said uneasily.

Beside us stood Major Akeso, and behind her my Shock Knights.

Earlier, the demon women had been stripped of their demonic power armor and equally demonic weapons. Now they were naked and skulking around the cell, sniffing at the walls and windows. They clawed at the glass between us and them, or bit at each other like rabid wild animals. Their demon tails whipped behind them in agitation. Despite their feral ferocity and small horns poking through their long white hair, they were knockout hot demon babes. Perfect candidates for actual succubi. Not the seductive soul-stealing kind that turned you into their sex slave. The skruck you to death violently kind.

I said, “Any ideas, Major?”

Major Akeso shook her head with regret. “I wouldn’t know where to begin, my king. We’ve taken some tissue and blood samples, and determined their xenobiology doesn’t match anything in the ITAP bio-database. They’re an unknown species in this part of the universe. Anti-aging science is one thing. This is… I don’t know what this is. The underlying genetic code of these women has been throughly scrambled into something difficult to comprehend and more difficult to reverse.”

“Difficult or impossible?” I asked.

“That’s difficult to know without… experimentation,” Major Akeso said reluctantly. There were ghastly implications to what she was saying.

“It’s okay if you can’t change them back,” I reassured.

She arched an eyebrow that suggested she didn’t want to try.

“I get it,” I sighed, not wanting to press the issue.

Thump!

One of the naked demon women punched the glass and snarled, startling everyone.

I said, “How did they know to come to Zalaxia looking for me? Those CyberKnights and their demon army?”

“Word travels,” Colonel Sadys said.

“Clearly,” I grunted.

Watching the white demon women was strangely enthralling. Their nakedness only enhanced their dripping sexuality. That they were entirely shades of white almost made them look like naked angels, but everything about them said deadly deviltry.

One of them came up to the hexagonal window where I stood watching and hissed, “My king! It’s you! Come inside the cell so we may mate!”

The other demon women rushed over, pressing their naked breasts against the glass. Two of them started fingering themselves and moaning lustily.

“Skruck us, my king! Skruck all of us!” one laughed maniacally, her white eyes gleaming wickedly. Like the others, her eyes had off-white irises that were easy to miss at first glance, giving the impression of entirely white eyes.

“Let me suck the life out of you!” another enthused diabolically.

Major Akeso snorted, “I think she means it literally.”

“What,” I said seriously, “can they drain life energy or something? Like that black CyberKnight’s withering lance?”

“I wouldn’t want to find out,” the major chuckled, obviously uncomfortable with the blatant sexuality of the demons.

At that moment, one of the demons fingering herself pulled out her glistening digit and began sucking on it with sensual purpose, fucking her mouth with it while staring at me with her weirdly white and erotic eyes.

Major Akeso added carefully, “I hope you don’t want to find out either, my king.”

“Not especially,” I snorted, half-lying and only slightly mesmerized by the overtly sexual display from the finger-sucking demon. “What do you think, Colonel?”

Colonel Sadys gasped, “Not interested, thank you very much!”

“No,” I chuckled. “I meant, what should we do with them?”

“My mistake,” Sadys nodded curtly. “I suggest we terminate them immediately, my king.”

“Hmm. Any chance this will wear off? Like a curse fading?” I knew I was talking fantasy novels and D&D nonsense at this point, but I didn’t want to outright kill these women, not if they could be saved. They had once been guardswomen who had given their lives — their normal lives, anyway — to protect mine.

Major Akeso sighed, “I can do some research. Perhaps someone outside of ITAP has encountered this before and has already found a viable solution.”

“That sounds like an excellent idea, Major,” I replied. “I guess we’re done here?”

Colonel Sadys nodded, “Would you like to review the names of the women we will be honoring at tonight’s funeral ceremony?”

“Yeah,” I said grimly. “We better do that. How many women lost their lives to those CyberKnights?”

“Thirty-one,” Sadys said. “More if
