Fear is having butterflies 24/7,

being alone in your thoughts with everything to hide.

Fear is feeling your heart drop as you reach the top of the mountain,

realizing you have to come back down to the bottom.

Fear is listening to the voices in your head telling you to give up,

give in,

let go.

Strength is a funny thing though.

Strength can be raising your voice above those in your head, screaming out "STOP!",

until they finally understand the desperation of your voice,

until they hear you loud and clear.

Finally understanding they can not control you.

Strength is found in the child who decides to make something out of nothing,

who decides to stay awake searching for the light in a never ending darkness.

Searching rather than adding onto the battle scars created by wars against ones self.

For the girl who thinks she isn't beautiful,

YOU ARE.

Your originality, your smile, your eyes.

They are what make you the way you are.

Others can't see it because they themselves don't see their own beauty.

The only ones without beauty in the world,

are those with an ugly heart.

You may be saying in your head, she's lying, she doesn't know anything.

But I do,

because I was that girl in the back of the room.

The one who hated everything about herself and never spoke up,

hiding her feelings behind a smile and silence.

I was the girl who never connected with people.

Despite what others say suicide doesn't kill,

sadness does.

Depression is a disease caused by society.

The ideas of perfection implanted in children's minds.

The lies that to be beautiful, you can't have flaws.

That beauty is on the outside.

But the truth is that beauty is worthless.

If your personality is not priceless.
