This day
I woke up today with my head far away
Outside saw the sun chasing moonbeams away
I thought up new ways of killing my time
When the words knocked politely, I gave them a rhyme
I’ll find me a friend in the government
I’m meeting a priest that was heaven-sent
I’ll conquer the world in a mini-van
And I’m getting a medal for what I’ve done for this land
When I speak to the masses, I’ll be faking a smile
All the ships on the ocean are afloat for a while
Everyone’s sober when the first round’s on me
Call the priest, I’m expressing my sympathy
I leafed through some papers with my hands in the air
I wondered where I’d gotten the Vanity Fair
When boredom forced me down on my knees
I caught myself counting up leaves on the trees
Should find me a place in the government
The priest had gone home ‘cause religion’s to mend
I frowned when they called me to hand in my gun
Outside saw the moon hide away from the sun
This day is the weirdest that I can recall
I wait for Cinderella coming back from the ball
I wait for the call from the government
They denied this one medal, so I’m leaving this land
This day was a moment to realize
The sun that shone differently into my eyes
This day put my feet on an uncertain ground
And time is an abstract and silence a sound
One day can be over in two seconds flat
One day to see clearly who’s the mouse, who’s the cat
This day is as special as any day left
No exceptions, and of control we’re bereft
Zebras
They wanna claim today the world is black and white
They’re sitting, reading stories ‘til the morning light
They say the world is flat, but in a zebra’s mind
There’s hoofbeats touching marble of a solid kind
Zebras try to figure out the bar code thing
Zebras wonder how we make the church bells ring
The zoos are cruel but everywhere there’re tons to find
Human hearts are marble of a solid kind
Hey guys, don’t you understand, we’re horses rare
Not the out-of-reach and peachy beachball wear
We’re sure that you can help us, we will make you sing
Figure out the cashier desk and bar code thing
Black and white are colours for a polka night
But then you try a vernissage, they’ll make you tight
We steal the vinyl and we kick the DJ out
And leave the numbing silence to the baffled crowd
Zebras crossing zebra crossings fearlessly
Walking looking down in curiosity
Sometimes I wonder if they want to try it out
Lying underneath the gnawing marble crowd
People, don’t you understand the zebras’ talk
No out-of-reach, no peachy sunset-beachball-walk
We’re sure you help them while we make the church bells ring
Figure out the cashier desk and bar code thing
The hourglass says zebra time, make up your mind
There’s hoofbeats touching marble of a solid kind
Wake me up
I sometimes wonder if this is just a bad show
I knocked my head to bricks to see the world glow
I need a riff on Peter’s singing JetGlo
Just to wake me up
I often find myself amongst strange people
They knocked me down for smashing church and steeple
Pick up your bass, Mike, save the stage, I’m first row
But then again the glow is just a bad show
Wake me up, all the sentiments
Wake me up, sell me compliments
And then I rise and try to save the world
I often think that skies are made of grey clouds
I stole the town key, chased by all the mad crowds
Don’t know what’s wrong with 80 million people
Don’t know what’s wrong with switching church and steeple
Wake me up, wash my hands in sands
Wake me up, sold out compliments
I try to rise and then I’ll say the word
Michael, I want to save the world
With you
A troubled mind
There’s nothing that keeps me away today
There is nothing that I wouldn’t say
It’s one million questions that circle my head
And a dark cloud I’m chasing, regret
Have you ever seen a sunny sky
Through eyes that do nothing but worry
I’ll give them to you, face the world where it’s cruel
A troubled mind that feels nothing but sorry
There’s always a moon when the night turns black
And a shelter from thunder and rain
But sometimes mysterious winds coming back
And a glorious prime turns to pain
Have you ever imagined a greening tree
In a head that keeps spinning and turning
I’ll leave it to you, paint the heavens in blue
A troubled mind should be loving, not yearning
There are voices that guided me everywhere
They were keeping me up, helped me out
It’s the comfort they spent, in a time of despair
They diminished all fears and all doubt
Have you ever cried on a true friend’s shoulder
When you felt like you’re drowning in tears
I’m looking to you, start to see what is true
A troubled mind can’t believe what it hears
Now there’s nothing that keeps me away from you
There is nothing that words could express
It’s a ride on a sunbeam in a haven of blue
This troubled mind went through all and confessed
Have you ever seen a sunny sky
Through eyes that cry tears full of pleasure
I’m feeling the voices and jump on the cloud
A loving mind, indescribable treasure
All the best
Oh this won’t take long now
I’ve made up my mind
For many many days
I’m sure you’d be surprised now
If I told you here
That I’m leaving
But there’s so many things banging on my chest
So many screams on my tongue
I’m putting up a test for you
Eat it up and I’ll leave you the rest
Today there’s no goodbye for us
Three words left, hear them well
All the best
You thought this was an opera
But not the sad kind
No tears, no final curtain
You’d go through the stones of this desert
But I’ll make you sit down
And listen
There’s one million things that bang on my chest
One million screams on my tongue
I’ll make you run that test for me
Eat it up, then I’ll leave you the rest
Today there’s no goodbye for us
Just three words for you, darling
All the best
I sat down and wrote this storyline
I made up my mind
For a happy ending
I had to give in and burned the papers
Now I stand in front of you
Listen!
There’s one million things that bang on my chest
One million screams on my tongue
I’ll make you run that test for me
Eat it up, then I’ll leave you the rest
Today there’s no goodbye for us
Just three words for you, darling
All the best
All the best, darling
The key’s on the desk
I could ask you now how you’re feeling
But did you ask me?
All the best
I’ll make my writing on the wall
Leave you three words
All the best
Anna
At times I’m crying for you
At times I really miss you
And every time you’re on my mind
I know I’ll always love you
I went through every corner of your town
Finding magic melodies
Saw people dancing in your streets
Yellow, black, red, white and brown
I heard an angel singing in a side street
Shining eyes that looked at me
A warming spell upon my heart
Enchanting me from head to feet
At times I’m crying for you
At times I really miss you
And every time you’re on my mind
I know I’ll always love you
Crossing your bridges, I felt a strength I can’t explain
Sparkling whispering water
Traffic signs, one million noises
And I felt happiness again
I saw you coming down from the mountains
Gently moving on to me
Bearing ships and mysteries
In my mind creating fountains
At times I’m crying for you
At times I really miss you
And every time you’re on my mind
I know I’ll always love you
Now I miss the cool breeze that you give
Running through my head, alive
A sense of immortality
Endless reasons I’m to live
It’s so sad to leave your waves now
But planes and trains will take me back
The Spire guides me high above
Anna, you’re my only love
Arizona sun
I remember you, standing in the desert
In the Arizona sun
A sidewinder around your legs
And a whisper on your lips
A desert storm above your head
Blinding the Arizona sun
Tired hands around your neck
Burning sunshine, and drops on your fingertips
Can’t you tell me where I’m going
Because I can’t retrace my steps
No one tells you where you’re going
Arizona stars are maps
I recall your smile, floating in my head
In the Arizona sun
Birds around my sighs
My sighs in echoes on the dunes
A desert storm on my world
Fighting down the Arizona sun
On my knees towards the boarders
Turning memories in music, desert tunes
Can’t you tell me where I’m going
Because I can’t retrace my steps
No one tells you where you’re going
Arizona stars are maps
Did I dream tonight?
Did I dream of light?
Of water in Arizona
I can’t tell myself I’m going
And I have lost my will, my steps
When the Arizona night is falling
The stars are leaving you no maps
Moral to my story
It was last night, it was late night
I was crying, it was dark light
It was haunting, it was pretty
It was sad, it was a pity
And there’s a boy that’s hiding quietly
And there’s a hawk that’s crying wildly
And there’s a lie that reigns my country
And there’s no Queen for my protection
There’s only harm and none of glory
And there’s a moral to my story
There’s the dawn now, there’s a morning
Not a signal, not a warning
There’ve been nightmares, there were bright eyes
It was a shame, I haven’t been wise
One girl to love me, one to break me
A light to guide me, one forsaked me
There were two chairs, and me deciding
To be the boy that still is hiding
And it was madness, I was praying
For loving her, I am still paying
I am stumbling, I am aching
And for her love, I am forsaking
It has no end, it’s endless pain
A thunderstorm, it’s endless rain
A lightning strikes, the oceans roar
A tragedy forever more
I was a fortress, you’re my island
You were my wife, and I was your man
And it was fate, two separate lovers
Two souls that used to love each other
And there’s a shy girl walking quietly
And all the eagles crying wildly
Now there’s a Queen that breaks my country
And I’m a soldier fighting for love
And there are people who support me
And all the lies won’t make my eyes see
And all the children hiding quietly
The eagle’s army crying wildly
And there’s a world that’s
