It wasn’t until I talked to them for another hour that I decided to drift off to bed early. I was completely sad and utterly exhausted. Chapter One - Goodbye
Sometimes, goodbye is just a painful way to say I love you.
Chapter One - Goodbye
The sun seemed to have played a great part in waking me up as early as six in the morning as I had forgotten to close my curtains before I went to sleep.
I had almost forgotten what had happened last night and as soon as my senses woke up I jumped to my feet and made my way to the closet and grabbed the luggage bag right beside it.
It didn't take me long to pack my things because I just planned on taking the stuff I would want to keep with me when I got to New York as I planned to visit whenever I had a chance. The most important things I packed were my photo albums which included pictures of me and the Sparks family, the silver necklace that Trent gave me on my thirteenth birthday, my favorite accessories and some figurines. This stuff can make me smile no matter what.
I hurried to the shower after packing everything. After showering, I decided to wear a daily comfy white shirt and paired it up with brown trouser shorts.
When I went down stairs at eight, I saw mom and dad at the kitchen.
"Good morning baby." Mom and dad uttered in chorus.
"Morning mom." I kissed her cheeks. "Morning dad." I kissed dads’
"Um…so, are you ready to go with Mrs. Danes to New York?" That sounded more like a whisper. It seemed that mom was willing her self not cry and her voice not to crack.
I felt a sudden pang of guilt when I heard her question. Luckily, our little drama was interrupted when the doorbell rang.
"I'll go get it." Dad mumbled and mom nodded.
Mom stared at me as if she was memorizing my face and moved closer to pull me into a tight hug.
"We'll always love you no matter what Rachelle and we're here to support what ever decision you'll make. I hope you'll be happy with your aunt." I couldn’t help but cry as I hugged her back. I never wanted to leave but Trent's words from last night echoed in my mind.
"I'm sorry to barge in, but our plane will leave at ten and the airport is about an hour or two away from here." Aunt Jennifer stated politely.
"Are all your things ready?" Mom turned to face me.
"Um yes, everything's packed." I answered.
"Okay then. I'll call the driver to carry everything in the car." Aunt said.
It took us another thirty minutes of tearful goodbyes to each other before I finally got in the car with my aunt.
I hadn't seen Trent since I woke up and left. I felt sad about it but it’d just be more painful to say goodbye and not get a reply.
I loved Trent since the day I can remember. I can immediately tell when he's mad, happy or what ever feeling he feels. He suddenly just changed into a bad boy since we got to Carlisle High. That's the time when fame filled his personality and forgot about being my brother.
-Flashback-
"Rachelle Spaaaaarks!" Trent shouted to wake me up.
"Ugh, Trent. Why'd ya always have to shout right in my ears to wake me up? You might damage my ear drums, don't you know that?" I muttered under my pillow.
"Haha. Sorry my sista." He removed the pillow on my head and kissed me on my cheek. "Morning Rach. Let me help you up." He lifted me up in fireman’s lift.
"Argh! Trent put me down! You said you’d help me up! Not pick me up, stupid!" He didn't put me down but ran around the room as he carried me instead. "Ahhh! Stoooop!" I demanded.
"Man, you’re so damn heavy, Rach." He said as he put me down.
"No one told you to carry me and run around like a crazy lost puppy so it's your fault." I said, sticking my tongue out.
"Haha, okay. C'mon! We better get going! You may hit the showers now my piglet sista." I hit him on his side. "Ouch! What was that for?" He inquired.
"That's what you get for calling me piglet, you dork."
"Ohh c'mon! I was just kidding. And, Y’know, only I have the right to call you that and no one else, right? Now go. I love you." He kissed my forehead and pointed to the direction of the bathroom.
"I love you too bro." I smiled and nodded.
After preparing, we went to school together in Trent’s car.
"It's a whole new year and I have a good feeling about it!" He said happily.
"Maybe." I answered, my voice barely a whisper. I'm not really excited about the year and that school.
"What’s wrong?"
"Nothing, I just don't feel like going to a new school. What if they don't like me? What if I’m not going to have friends there?" I asked him.
"Don't you worry. I'm here Rach, I’m always here...only for you." Trent said. Aww, how I love my brother.
"Thanks. Love you."
"I love you more." He answered as he patted my back.
After five minutes of silence, we arrived at the school. He parked the car beside a black BMW.
"This is it!" He smiled like an idiot and got outside the car and ran to the other side to open my door.
"Gentleman huh?" I giggled.
"Just wanna be nice sis." He winked.
"What evs." He laughed.
"Mm-kay, let's now go to our class. See you at lunch. Take care." He kissed me on my forehead before we went different ways.
When I was on the hallway, I received killer gazes from people, which made me feel uncomfortable. I decided to find my locker first so I can put some of my things there. But before I had a chance to open my locker, someone pushed me, which caused me to fall on the floor. Oh wait, she's not just one, not two, but there are three of them.
"So, I can see that you're a newbie. Ha." The first blonde said, laughing maliciously. She scanned my body from head to toe. "Such a fat nerd. A new slave.." She whispered but loud enough for me to hear.
"Geez Sarah, she doesn't even belong here. With those huge glasses, she looks a complete geek-o-ehh-ow." The second blonde said.
"I know right." The first blonde who pushed me replied. Her name must be Sarah.
"Okay, girls. We better go now. Y'know, we have a whole year to make that nerd's life a living hell. Hahaha." The third Barbie spoke. Then they all marched away.
I got up and acted like nothing happened. I continued putting my stuff in my locker and made my way to my first class.
As usual, as a new student I introduced my self in front of the class. I felt really uncomfortable about that.
All of my morning classes went good when it comes to lessons, but my classmates…
I felt so relieved when I heard the school bell ring for lunch. Oh thank goodness! As I entered the cafeteria, I smiled when I saw Trent with a couple of guys and...with those three Barbies?! I headed towards them to approach Trent.
"Hey Trent!" I waved.
"Uh yeah. Hi." He looked at me for a sec. but immediately removed his gaze. I know him when he can't look straight. It means he's feeling uncomfortable.
"Heeeey, Trent? You know that nerd? Ohhh hey wait up! You have the same last name! What does that mean?" The Barbie named Sarah asked.
"He's my br-" I was about to answer but Trent covered my mouth.
"Umm, she's my cousin. But I’m not close to her." He looked at me. "You may now go, pig." He said as he let go of his hold on my mouth. I felt so hurt and embarrassed with those words. I walked away hearing their taunts.
I tried hard not to cry on the first day. I did my best and participated well on my classes. I hadn't met anyone who wanted to be my friend. Which I’m not surprised about. Well, I don't care. I have Trent as my brother and that is more than enough. I just thought of the fact that he has a reason on why did he said those words inside the cafeteria during lunch.
You see, I just can't get mad with him. I respect him so much that I even forget about respecting my self.
I walked to the parking lot where Trent parked the car. But I was surprised to see nothing. I guess he went home early so I just got my self a cab since I’m not yet familiar with the streets.
When I got home, I saw Trent's car parked in the lot. I entered the house feeling tired.
"Rach, baby you're home! Why did you decided to go home alone? Trent told us you don't want to go with him." Mom said.
"Huh? No. I want to go home with him but I haven't seen his car. That's why I just got my self a cab."
"Well that's what he told us. Do you want me to talk to him?" Dad replied.
"No dad. I'll go." I ran upstairs and knocked on his door. "Trent? Will you open your door?" He opened his door.
"What do you need?!" He asked in an angry tone. What the hell?
"Hey! You don't need to shout!" I pushed him out of the doorway to allow me to enter. "What's the matter with you?! Why are you with those bad looking boys and those three bitches a while ago?!" He was about to slap me but he stopped him self from doing so.
"Don't you dare calling them like that again. They are my friends! And from now on, I don't want to see you anywhere near me at the school. You got it?" He said in a full angry tone. I've never heard and seen him with that voice and face. He must be really mad.
I just turned my face down and walk out of his room crying. That was the day where everything about us changed.
-End of flashback.-
I felt so tired from the flight. But that tiredness immediately melted when my eyes met the beautiful sight of New York.
The limo ride went cool as it strolled down the city. I loved every single thing I saw. There's a lot of shopping places to go.
"I think you'll love New York, don’t you, Rachelle?" Aunt Jennifer asked.
"Yes, of course." I answered as I nodded.
We arrived at her house after an hour of limo drive. Man, her house was humongous! I wonder how many people lived there. The gate was painted with gold that made it look like a castle's gate. There was a huge fountain placed in front of the main house. I can say that they spent millions of dollar for that. It was colored with beige paint and has a huge glass wall on the side where you can see an overview of the inside.
My jaw dropped by just looking at her place.
"Earth to Rachelle." She voiced happily with a soft chuckle.
"Huh…yea?" My senses came back to reality. I blinked. "Is this where you live?" I asked.
"Yes my dear and from this day on, you are also going to live here."
