I felt my phone vibrate from my pocket. It's a text from a number that I don't recognize. I opened the message.

I blinked and my senses set on it's tense mode again. Did Kyle really texted me? My mind was battling whether to hit reply or not. But my thumb seemed to work on it's own. I hit reply.

---------------

Message:

Oh hi. Okay, I saved ur number. I'm fine thanks, and u?

Rachelle. :)

----------------

I pressed send. Why is he being friends with me? I know player type guys would never be friends with someone who's fat like me.

Maybe he changed for me. The other part of me stated. I can't help but grin at the thought. Besides, I never felt something like this before. My phone vibrated again. My heart is thumping as I opened the message.

From: Kyle

I'm great, knowing that ur fine. :) Btw, just wanna ask if you can go out with me on Saturday? Ya know, just a friendly walk. I hope u'll gve me a positive reply.

I can feel my cheeks burn after reading his message. Oh my gosh. He's asking me out! My crush is asking me out! I want to jump and jump but I just can't move due to extreme excitement. I pressed the reply button.

----------------

Message:

Saturday? I guess I can. :)

Rachelle. :)

----------------

I hit the send button. I felt butterflies in my stomach. After a minute or two, my phone judder once more.

---------------

From: Kyle

Great! Can't wait. And can you please not tell Ethan that I asked you out? Massive thanks!

Kyle x

Why should I not tell Ethan about it? They're friends. But, er... I don't care. Maybe Kyle has a reason so I replied and agreed.

I called Faith afterwards.

"Hey Rachelle!" Why does she always sound so happy?

"Err... I wanna tell you something." I held my pillow tighter than usual.

"Spill."

"Well?" I breathe. "Kyle asked me out for a friendly walk." I closed my eyes and buried my face on my pillow.

"Ohhhh myy!" She squealed. I pulled my phone away from my ear to avoid deafness because of her voice."Okay Rachelle, I think he really likes you! I guess he's no longer a player!"

"You think so?" I can't remove the smile in my face. Maybe he changed for me. My inner self is doing somersaults thinking about it. Is this real? Oh my. I'm just so happy.

"Kind of. Not that sure but we'll find out! But as I can see, he's no longer doing the usual things that he does." What is she talking about?

"What do you mean? Please elaborate Faith." I can sense that she's smiling.

"Well! You know, we always catch him with a girl beside him making out or doing some disgusting moves. He's too young to do what he does." She has a point. Kyle was too young to be such a player.

After my phone call with Faith, I rested my tired and confused mind as I lied down and hugged my pillow once more.

I shifted on the other side of my bed to reach the only stuffed toy that I have from Carlisle. I named my teddy Ben because Ben Ten was Trent's favorite. He gave me this half human body sized bear on my eleventh birthday. I hugged my bear tightly. Imagining that it was my brother who am I hugging. Damn, I miss Trent. But my deep insides keeps on aching with the thought of him doing nothing every time I get bullied.

Why does he had to change? This question keeps playing on my mind. I don't want to cry anymore but I can't help it. I'm such a cry baby.

"Hey Rachy. What's wrong? Why are you crying?" I was shocked to hear Ethan's voice coming from behind. I forgot to lock my door. Oh how stupid, Rachelle.

"Nothing." I wiped my tears.

"Then why are you crying?" Ethan looked at me with sympathy. He sat down on my bed and settled near me. I felt his warm hands rubbing my arms gently.

"I miss Trent." I kept on crying. I can't stop.

"Your brother? I mean, your used-to-be brother?" He raised his eye brows. I nodded. "Can you tell me about him?" He sounded curious but concerned.

I told him what happened and the reason on why I decided to go away from the Sparks. He frowned at the story.

"I see." He sighed. "I guess you should forget everything about him and those people who hurt you Rachy. They're too far for you to mind." He said it like it's easy to do.

"No Ethan. You don't understand. It's not and never about forgetting. I can forgive. But i'll never forget. It's too easy for you to say because you are not me and you never encompassed through my situation. He's the only brother I had." I put my hands on my forehead shaking my head.

"Okay, i'm sorry. I'm just trying to help." He hugged me. Again, tears rushed down from my eyes. "Please stop crying Rachy. I can't stand to see you like this." He slowly pulled away from me and held my chin to look up to him. "I will be your brother from now on. I am not just your cousin anymore, but also your brother. You understand?" His voice was husky and low. I nodded. "We are blood related and I guess I can play a better role as a brother to you than what did your used to be brother did. I'll never let people hurt you." He's voice was really full of concern. I managed to smile and hugged him tight.

"Thank you so much Ethan, thank you for being here." My tears fell once more. But this time, it's because of joy.

"No problem little sissy cuzzy Rachy. Ahaha! Another rhyming, eh?" I punched him playfully on his arms.

"Why d'ya always call me those kinds of names?" I pouted.

"Because i'd like to." He stuck his tongue out. "Okay, c'mon down stairs. We have to eat!" There goes his playful side again.
