blow it out, he stared deep into my eyes and I finally exhaled.
“Since the 8th grade”
“Umm” was all he said before he took my lips one more time and left me once again alone against a wall feeling really stupid and confused. I walked up the steps as he was grabbing his keys off the table he turned to me. “You have your bag”
“Yeah”
“Good” he said then he walked up to me and stared down at me. He kissed my forehead “I see you later princess”
“Jalen I…”
“I know Kerri, I am too” after that he turned and left I was left confused and alone.. I can’t believe I did that. What is wrong with me? How could I do that to Layla? Oh my gosh how is it going to be when were all together. I can’t believe this shit.

“Kerri we’re back” I heard my mom yelled. I ran down the stairs to see my brother who looked completely different his hair was longer than the picture I had of him it was now to the middle of his back.
“Jonathan” I ran to him and hugged him “I missed you so much”
“I missed you to little sis” he said hugging me back. I feel so much better now that he’s here maybe he could help me out. I guess he could tell I was off.
“What's wrong little sis?” he asked.
“Nothing I just missed you so much” I answered and he looked my in my eye. Dang it I was baiting my bottom lip.
“We’ll talk later” he said and I just smiled.
“I’m so happy I have both my children here with me” my mom said joining in our hug. We laughed “Okay well I’m going to get started on dinner well I’m going to order dinner because I don’t feel like cooking”
“Okay mom” I said and she walked away.
“Kerri help your brother get settled in”
“Yes ma’am” I said once we got all his bags out the car we went to his room and he closed the door.
“So what’s going on?”
“If I told you, you’d be so disappointed”
“Spit it out”
“Okay when you left Jalen and Layla started dating”
“Layla’s dating Jalen” he said disappointed
“Yes and today before you got here Jalen and I were making out in the basement and”
“Wait haven’t you been in love with Jalen since forever?”
“How’d you know that?” I asked shyly.
“Sorry little sis but” the he started singing the song ‘Writing all Over your Face’ by Rude Boys “It’s written all over your face, you don’t have to say a word” my brother can sing but it was irritating because he was right.
“Shut up, but yeah we were making out in the basement then he just left me and said he’d see me later”
“Sis believe me he’s probably just as confused as you are. We guys handle things differently then you ladies we don’t want to talk things out”
“Then what do you guys do?”
“We umm, we do nothing”
“Good to know” I said shaking my head
“So about Layla”
“What about her?”
“How is she?”
“The same as she was when you were here last” I already know they both like each other they’re so obvious.
“Oh and ima have to talk to Jalen”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t appreciate him having a girlfriend and making out with my little sister”
“Jonathan hush, it just happened we were watching a movie and we just got a little carried away”
“You guys have been friends since forever are yall ready to jeopardize all that to be a couple”
“I don’t even know if he feels the same way as I do”
“Sis trust me, he does” he said and I smiled
“If you say so, Thanks” the night went on and it felt great to have my brother home. Jalen

What the hell have I done? I made out with my best friend, that’s what. I know I left her confused but that’s because I’m confused myself. I should have just left when she came to get her bag. I can’t believe she said she’s had these feelings for me since the 8th grade, I mean that explains a lot. That’s why she was so distant when Layla and I first started dating. If she would have told me sooner I probably would have been all over her because I’ve wanted to be with her since the first day we met I just put it to the back of my mind because she wanted to be friends. At least that’s what I thought, she tasted so sweet and I can’t get her out my head now. What am I going to do about Layla? We haven’t been Seeing Eye to eye lately and I have been thinking about ending it but it would be real messed up if I ended it with her to be with Kerri her best friend. I want to call Kerri and tell her what I’m feeling but that’s just not going to happen. I ‘ll just call Layla I know she’s home by now it’s 1 in the morning.

Layla

“Hello” I answered knowing it was Jalen.
“What you doing?”
“Nothing I just got home”
“Aww how was the party”
“It was cool, what did you and Kerri do?”
“We umm, we just chilled” I don’t know but something sounded wrong in the way he said that. I’ve always felt that they both liked one another but didn’t do anything about it. I know I sound like a bad friend for going out with Jalen while knowing this but I wasn’t sure until after we started dating but Jalen never said anything so I figured it was okay. I always had feelings for Jonathan anyway but when he left I guess Jalen was my replacement.
“Aww that’s cool”
“I guess but Layla can we talk about something serious”
“Yeah I want to ask you something too anyways”
“You go first” he said and I was nervous because I wanted to end us.
“Well Jalen I wanted to us”
“Yeah that’s what I wanted to talk to you about”
“I just think we…” I started
“Should break up” he finished
“Yeah so it’s not just me”
“I guess not, you’re not mad right”
“No not at all, I think were better friends” I said
“Yeah me too I’m glad we feel the same way”
“That was so much easier than I’d thought it be”
“Yeah” he kind of chuckled.
“So I guess I’ll just see you tomorrow Good night Jalen”
“Goodnight Bunny” he said using the night name he gave me.
“Goodnight” I giggled then we both hung up. I so relieved, we really aren’t together any more. Now it’s time to get what I really want and that’s Jonathan. He finally home and he will finally be mine. Every time I think of him the think back to that night we spent together in each other arms just making out and talking. I was young then but now I am so much more willing to do so much more than make out. Now it’s time to pick out a slapping outfit to go visit Kerri in. Jonathan get ready, because I’m ready for you.

Jonathan

Damn Layla’s with Jalen. I never would have thought. I guess she couldn’t wait for me forever. I know it ain’t gone last because for one I am not going to let it and for two she loves me and I damn sure love her. I’ve thought about that girl ever since the day I left and now that I'm back I ain’t letting her go. I can’t wait to see her just so we can start up from where we left off. (Knock knock)
“Come in” I said.
“Hey Jonathan mom said breakfast is ready. Which is crazy because you know that lady don’t cook breakfast on the regular”
“Well you know she missed me then huh” I chuckled and so did Kerri.
“Well hurry up because I'm hungry and she won’t let me eat until you come up from your new room in the basement. So how do you like it down her anyway?”
“I love it, I feel like I have a little apartment down her, and I like that is all the way on the other side of the basement and no one can come in here through the theater because it’s blocked off”
“Yeah it’s crazy how this house is mad with two basements kind of”
“Yeah but it works to my benefit” I said.
“Yeah anyways again hurry up Jonathan I’m hungry”
“Okay Kerri here I come” I got up and Kerri and I walked up to the dining room and sat down to eat breakfast as a family.
“So Jonathan how’s your father?” my mom asked. They are so in love it’s ridiculous. They got separated because my dad cheated on my mom when he moved away. I know it hurt her but I also know that they both still are in love.
“He’s alright I guess, and if you’re wondering yes mom he misses you. He talked about you everyday”
“Umm” was all my mom said and I just smiled to myself and shook my head. Kerri smiled also. After breakfast we all got dressed and just chilled out until about 1:30pm then Kerri got a called and went up the stair.
“Where you going?” I asked.
“Upstairs I’ll be right back” she answer the she disappeared into the hall.
