no need to worry-.“ “I have spoken there is no need to be reminded of what never will be.” “But-“ The priest raised his hand to silence his son and pointed his finger to us. “Speak. Children there is no need to be frightened we are all friends. Ah I see you have brought our guest. Thank you. Leave now and let us talk.” The young boy looked to me and smiled he put his hands out in a manner to hold me here stood up and walked away. The young man standing next to the high priest was outraged and asked, “Why silence me and beckon me to leave when there is no point in paying attention to a girl with no future? I am to be listened to and respected.” “Leave.” He asked again. The young man took on look and me softly I raised my head to meat his eyes as he turned and stormed out of the temple. I turned my attention back to the high priest who was lazily sitting rubbing his head in frustration after his ordeal. Once again his attention was on me and with a rejoices tone he stood his large body swung as he waddled his way across the small infantile bridge I was scared the bridge was going to break under his massive weight. But sure enough the bridge was sturdy he walked up to me and grabbed me by my arms and swung me around. “A young girl come to help us what a delight what a delight the gods have answered my prayers. Come there are people waiting. He turned to the men lined along the walls of the temple and told them, “Assemble the people this is a joys occasion!” He grabbed me and held me and squeezed me tight like a bright shinny new toy. Suffocating beneath this large body I couldn’t breath finally he let me go and I took a big breath. Once again he waddled over the bridge, hearing it creak and squeal was like hearing a trapped mouse cry. He plopped his large behind back in his throne and I knelt again. “No, No.” He interrupted. “There is no need to kneel stand up stand up come here.” I looked at him, his warm welcoming face was a shock to me being an intruder to this strange land I would think they would kill me by now but there was kindness in his heart. He looked at me and said, “My name is High Priest Mao. I have built this village from the ground and have discovered the Sky Riders. They are gentle creatures most of the time but once you find one that loves you back you develop a special bond between the two of you and that is what defines this village. I just hope my son find it in this heart to not take over until I am dead. He wants to grow up so fast. The boy is only seventeen he needs to take some responsibility. Anyway enough with my problems it’s time to celebrate you and your arrival. Come there are people waiting for you. He once again stands up and tries to catch his breath. And walked over the bridge the creaking over the bridge and out to the entrance he turned and moved his hand in a gesture to get me to go with him. I slowly walked up to him and he embraced me in his arms my face squished against his side he walked out to the public. “MY PEOPLE!” He yelled and the people cheered. “My Village! This is our time, our time of prosperity and tranquility! As the prophecy has for told a great worrier will come to us in our time of need and here she is!” The crowd was silent as I walked out of the opening. He grabbed my arm and he said this is our ultimate weapon. The crowd didn’t think that was a good idea by the expression on their faces they hated the idea. They all decided to go back to what they were doing. His son walked up the side of the temple stairs and up to his father. “Father you can’t be serious this woman is not a worrier you don’t even know if she can fly.” “But we will teach her there is no need to make a deal over this. Come a feast is in your honor tonight.”
I went back to the temple where 4 woman were standing waiting for me, they each held something different some thing to pamper me with and I didn’t like the feeling of one tugging on my hair and another grabbing at my feet another rapping string around me then writing it down. I was just never a spoiled girl before and it was uncomfortable to have this done to me. When it was finished the banquet was ready my hair was done up nice a clean new tunic was placed on me and I had been cleaned from head to toe. I turned and thanked them for their time and effort as they turned and returned the favor. Each one of them scurried in front of me to form a line they placed their hands out to welcome me to the court. Oh’s and awe’s filled the room and the cheered for me rather than boo me for had I known what they were clapping about I would have ran for my life. As I glamorously glided across the temple floors and over to the seat being gestured as mine I sat next to High Priest Mao and across the table sat his son Josh and Joshes younger brother Luke. Josh was sitting there cocky as ever looking happy at something almost diabolical. Luke looked shy his head down his cheeks read and smiled like a child his short cut spiked black hair. They sat there and waited I did the same no one else was eating so it was safe to assume that the time had not come to eat. A hush fell over the banquet hall as Mao stood and proclaimed the good news. “My people! Beloved friends and acquaintances.” He shouted delightfully “Because your opinions are important I have decided not to let her be our chosen hero.” He leaned toward me and apologized for this rash decision. “She may not be the hero she is a soon to be wife of a hero!” I looked surprised of Corse what other expression would be appropriate to the news of an unknown wedding of your own. The table cheered and I was, I didn’t even know him. I looked across the table at Josh as he looked at me smiling and clapping, he could care less weather or not he marries or who he marries he just wants to be the villages hero the man of the hour, a chump. I looked over at Luke sitting there sad but I couldn’t understand why? Shouldn’t he be cheering happy for his brother? We sat there the rest of the night feasting eating ourselves silly but through it all he never seemed to perk up. He stayed sitting there drooping with his pain of some sort.
The women who pampered me led me to my sleeping quarters. It was a small room outside of the temple with sliding wooden doors and candles illuminating the room there was a bed in the corner and sink filled with water there was a chest at the end of the bed. The women opened the chest and there were four pairs of clothes including the one I was wearing. One to dress daily in a green tunic with shorts underneath a jewel held together the one shoulder and drooped to the end of my knees a pair of shorts of the same color was to gracefully stay hidden underneath it. Another sleep in it was a shirt with thick shoulder straps vertically striped with a pair of long pants that matched. The dress up one that I was wearing, and one to ride in it was a hard leather pair of shorts to go under the tan skirt cut short and slit up the sides held together by a silver button and the top was a short one shoulder shirt up high above my belly button. The women walked me over to the changing stall and handed me the pajamas outfit from the chest all neat and folded over the changing stall. I placed one arm through one sleeve and then the other one leg in one leg hole and then the other. I pulled the shirt over my head I picked up the beautiful dress from the floor and hung it over one of the stall wall. Immediately it was taken by one of the women and placed between her arms folded up and placed back in the chest. I walked over to the mirror pulled each clip from my head and let my long black hair droop down from it’s intricate bun fashioned by the women standing behind me. As I turned and stood there staring at them and they jumped and scurried off out of my room and into the hall behind the door the smallest one who was no younger than nine held the door turned and said, “Good night miss.” With there sweet child voice and shut the door behind her. I stood in my warm candle lit room waiting for something but I don’t know what. I walked toward my bed dragging my feet across the soft carpet laying around my be the soft feel fell a bit sleepy but I couldn’t get the image of Luke out of my mind and The Wedding. I slipped into my bed and stared at the ceiling the tiles were rectangular and were nothing less than boring. I sat up in my bed taking the covers and throwing them off of me, I tiptoed to the door to slip on my shoes. They were the kind of shoes that were soft on the inside and were tough on the outside with a thick soul and leather lace was woven in between the pieces of separate parts that composed the shoes. I turned around to my bed reached for the pillows and slid them underneath the sheets to make it look like I was still there and reached for the robe that hung over my shoes. I looked out side my door everyone was asleep and no one was walking through the garden or around the temple. The ghost was clear and I tiptoed out the door. WHOO, WHOO! Swiftly I turned to see who was there my walking stick in hand the smooth wood of the stick comforted me but there was just an owl. I continued my journey, out over the temple wall and past the fields that scared the children that I talked with. They explained the great curse that flowed through that forest and the evil that filled each tree and bush and possessed every animal that roamed the forest. Evil filled their hearts and forced their terrible desires upon the unfortunate travelers that roam the forest lost and longing to die. But a good lurks in the forest; saving those travelers from the unfortunate fate of death a bright clean white is its symbol of servitude toward you. As I traveled through the forest it the sky got darker and the hope of returning faded within me but I stayed strong until it was pitch black. I began to doubt my abilities a bit it of light lit up the dark part of the forest where I sat on a small broken log and not far was a tree stump. I sat down and looked up at a small opening in the trees to stare at the moon and gaze at its glory and beauty as it
