He excelled in school and had great friends. He managed to help people in his every day life, as well as his secret life. Whenever the people needed him, he became their unknown Savior. More importantly, Jason was in love. She was the most important part of his life. Every time he looked into her gorgeous blue eyes, he could feel the sparks between them. They had met twice technically. Jason had saved her life as his first save and, as if it were fated to happen, they later on met in his real life. They were completely in love with one another when the dance came about. Normally, relationships that were this rushed ended bad. But this was different. Fate had meant for them to be together. There was no one else that could have matched up with Jason better than she did. Sarah was all he knew.
When Jason returned for Vaetix, he was worn out. All the fighting and use of power had drained his strength. On top of that, he had lost quite a bit of blood in the process. When the portal closed behind him and his beautiful girlfriend began to wake up, Jason did the only thing he could do to protect her. He lied. It pained him to lie to her, but he knew it was best for her. There was no reason for her to worry anymore. The darkness had been destroyed. Vayne was dead. As Sarah Williams awoke, Jason assured her that everything was going to be fine.
Trusting her love, Sarah closed her eyes again, still exhausted. The last thing she could remember was walking out the doors with a stranger in need. He simply was having car trouble, but she couldnât remember what happened next. All she remembered was feeling short of breath and everything going dark. When she came to, Jason and his best friends were surrounding her. Her connection with Jason was stronger than anything she had ever felt. If she was with him, she was confident everything would be alright.
Jason let her eyes close as she safely feel back into a peaceful slumber. He lifted her up in his arms, looking into her face. She was beautiful even as she slept. He turned to his friends who all knew what was going to come next. He promised them the entire story once heâd returned home and that they could wait for him there. Jason slowly lifted into the air, leaving them on the ground smiling. It was good to know it was all over. Matt, Josh, and Tony exchanged looks that said it was time to leave. The three of them took in the opposite direction to wait for their friend at his home.
As Jason flew, he saw the stars sparkling above in the night sky. They gave him comfort as he took Sarah to the hospital. He realized that he was wearing a torn and bloody Aspen shirt exactly like the Savior. He couldnât go and clean up his wounds. Making sure Sarah was alright was priority one. He masked his presence and landed outside the Holden City General Hospital. People watched him in awe as their Savior landed next to them and walked calmly through the doors. When he walked in, people saw the unconscious girl in his arms and immediately began to spring to action. Two doctors took her from Jason and put her on a rolling bed. She was safe now.
Jason knew that she would be alright. She had only been knocked out due to the way Vayne was holding her. Other than that, she had been unharmed and the results would be that she was just fine. As Jason handed her over, the other patients and doctors in the building all stared at him, wide eyed. They could all see his wounds, but the fact that he was still standing amazed them. Jason turned for the automatic doors, but two doctors ran after him. They wanted to help, but they wouldnât be able to do anything for him. As he shot up into the air, they called out to him, pleading for him to stay. His Aspen talents would see to his own recovery.
The rest of the evening moved pretty slowly. Jason remembered talking with his friends about Vaetix and what happened with Kris. He told them how his real name had been Vayne and heâd been spying on Jason from the beginning. He also spoke of the exorcism of his the dark creature within. They understood the majority of the story and had very few questions. Sarah had been taken as bait for Jason to be lured into Vayneâs trap. Jason used the darkness to destroy Vayne and free Sarah. Once the darkness had been released is when his friend began with their questions.
âSo, thatâs it then?â Tony asked, âNo more darkness, no more Quixons?â
âThere are no more left in our world. Vayne was the last of them, I believe,â Jason declared, âAnd now that I have been purified, the dark power can never be released from Vaetix again.â
âWellâŠthen I guess the only question is what now?â Josh asked.
âWe will continue what we were doing. The only threat to humans is the humans themselves. I am their Savior and you three are my Halyms. We will continue to train and adapt your powers until, eventually, you will all be able to help me out there in making this world a better place.â
With the being said, the four guys went about their lives as though everything was peaceful. The days passed by, and Jason continued his life with his friends and girlfriend happily. Sarah woke up in the hospital the next day to see her boyfriend looking back at her. He told her that she had fainted at the school and must have hit her head. She believed that story, as usual. She never wanted to doubt Jason for a moment. She knew that whatever he said was best. Sarah looked into his eyes and smiled. In that exact moment, Jason realized something. She and his friends werenât just ordinary friends. They were his family. He loved each and every one of them. He had been thinking he was alone this entire time, but the truth was that he was never truly alone in the world. As long as he had them, everything was going to be great.
That day, Sarah and Jason returned from Holden City and back to their hometown of Branson. The two love birds went out for smoothies and enjoyed one anotherâs company. They talked for hours about everything that had been happening. Jason, of course, didnât mention anything pertaining to the Aspen or Quixon, but they did discuss the Savior. Sarah finally told Jason that the Savior had saved her life a few months back. Jason said he was grateful for the Savior and was thankful for her being alive. He wanted to tell her that he had saved her life that day, but was already in too deep. He couldnât tell her after all this time. It wouldnât be right.
From that day forward, Jason went about everything like he normally would. He would go to school like a normal teenage boy and learn. After school, he would spend some time with Sarah before going to continue his friendsâ teachings. They were getting better with every lesson. The moments he shared with his family in those two weeks were going to be some of the best in his life. He didnât know it yet, but nothing was ever going to get better than those two weeks.
It was now Friday, about two weeks after Vayneâs demise. Everything was going wonderful. He was meeting Sarah and his friends at the football scrimmage that night for a night of fun. They were going to watch the game and be as loud as could be. It was a night for them to lose themselves in pure happiness. After the four oâ clock news, Jason finished his homework and got ready for the game. He put on an orange shirt and his typical jeans. His brown hair had recently been cut short, making it easier to comb through. He had his Aspen shirt on beneath. It had fully regenerated itself within two days of the fight. He had sealed his wounds with his flame powers, causing them to heal up rather quickly. Fortunately, Aspenâs bodies didnât scar. He would have no ties to the fight anymore. It was all said and done.
Jason went to leave, turning the lights off, but stopped a moment to look back into the darkness of his home. His life couldnât have gotten any better than how it was right now. He woke up every day with a smile on his face. Jason didnât know it, but this would be the last time things were this good for him. He hadnât learned the lesson for a hero in a world that wasnât his yet. Things never stayed good for too long. Nothing was ever going to be the same after tonight passed. But instead of realizing his mistake in not destroying the portal symbol, Jason simply smiled and closed his door.
He arrived at the game and found his friends at the gate to the stadium. Everyone in the town was here, just as usual. The crowd all wore either orange or black. It was called âA Night in the Jungleâ. The teams were going to play several games. There was a freshman scrimmage, a junior varsity scrimmage, and a junior vs. senior game. The hundreds of people were pumped up and loud all night. The stadium was almost completely surrounded by bleachers. Jason, his friends, and Sarah had all managed to get good spots to stand right up to the railing. His friends would occasionally yell comments about the game out loud, but other than that there was very little talking. At one point, though, they did start a conversation over the noise.
âWow, this is getting intense!â Josh declared loudly, over the deafening cries of the fans.
âYeah!â Jason agreed, âSucks you couldnât join in the fun.â
âWhy did you leave the team again?â Sarah asked, leaning forward to look at Josh.
âEhh, it just took up to much of my free,â Josh lied.
âThatâs too bad,â Sarah said, âI used to play basketball in the winter, but that didnât work out so great for a social life either,â
Jason smiled and pulled Sarah closer to him. She looked up at him and kissed him with a smile on her face. It was the time of their lives that night. Jason had no worries or regrets. It was all too perfect. While the entire town was out at the stadium, no one noticed what was happening at the school. The symbol that led to the Quixon world began to come to life again. It twisted and turned into the doorway that led to Earth. Out of the dark world stepped a large creature made entirely of the shadows. It had yellow teeth and the sinister red eyes. The muscles on the creature made it look like a superhuman. The smoky substance slithered all around its body. It was angry and looking for vengeance.
The body it had once possessed had been taken from it. It thirsted for Aspen blood. It was like an animal. It crouched low to the ground and sniffed for a scent. It found multiple ones, but there was only one that reeked of the Aspenâs blood. It leapt up onto the school
