how he’d gotten that gift or why, but it didn’t matter. Her heart was empty and needed Jason to fill it.
She would cry from time to time, awake and alone at night, praying that somehow she could be with Jason again. She came home from school one day to do her homework, but simply couldn’t concentrate anymore. She threw her books on the counter and grabbed her keys. She got into her car and drove to the Holden City Square. There, in the beautiful park-like center, was the place she would come to remember him. The city owed him a great debt and in his honor created a faceless statue of him. The inscription below read: Believe in him and he will live on in your heart.
Sarah knelt down in the grass and started to cry. Her pain was almost unbearable. She looked up at the statue of him. She knew the face. In her mind, she saw the face too. He seemed like a normal boy. The more and more she thought about it, she had always known somewhere inside. The symbols on his shirt, his endless will to make her happy, his compassion towards people…they were all signs. It just took until now for her to realize what they all meant. She stood up again and began to wipe the tears. She was wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt and a pair of light blue jeans. Her hair was down and flowing down her back. Jason had always liked it that way. She was even wearing his jacket that he had never asked her to return. She refused to let him go.
“He must have meant a lot to you,” said a man’s voice from behind her.
She looked over her shoulder and saw a man that looked somewhat familiar to her. She wiped her tears again and returned her gaze to the statue.
“I think he meant a lot to everyone,” Sarah sniffed, trying to stop crying.
“He was a great, kid, wasn’t he?” the man said with a sigh.
“Yeah,” Sarah said, starting to regain control of her tears.
“You know,” the man said, “I once hated the Savior. I believed that there was no just man with that kind of power. I thought that something inside would corrupt him in the end…turning him into something he was not. But look how wrong I was.”
“He was…always pure inside. He wanted the best for everyone even though his life was hard sometimes. He didn’t have a family. He was alone in the world.” Sarah said.
“I think he had a family. It just took him awhile to find It.” the man said reassuringly.
Sarah nodded and sniffed again. She thought of all the wonderful times they spent together. They loved each other. She looked up at the faceless statue and thought to herself, “Jason, why did you have to go?”
“Don’t worry, my dear,” The man said confidently to Sarah, “This is not Jason’s destiny. It is mine. I cannot let my only brother die when he has so much left to do…that’s why I’m bringing him back to life.”
Sarah’s eyes widened and she whipped around, but the man was gone. She didn’t know his name or why he came to speak to her, but she realized why she knew him now. The face resembled Jason’s a lot. Jason had once spoken of a brother that had died. Could it be possible that that was his brother? Sarah wasn’t sure of anything right now. She only had one thing she could do now. She had to believe.
