“Please. Call me Derek.”
“I will try my best to do so. Although, you can ask your sister, I am very formal and would be more confrontable calling you or her Sir, or Ma’am. Rather than your actual names. It’s out of respect for you and your family.” I explained to him. Once she was done with her brother and her son, she and I talked about the outcome of several seriously different scenarios. After that I spent what time I had left getting ready for the event that was being in my honor. And for those that know me, know that I was having more trouble with having an event done in my honor. I wasn’t training as hard as I am for the fame and glory, but to save those that cannot defend themselves. I am training this hard to protect the people of my world from those that wish to bring its destruction. I struggled with what to wear for what felt like forever, but was really just one hour. Oh… god one hour, that means that I only have thirty minutes left before the event starts luckily I was ready except for what I was going to wear. I finally decided on a silky light/dark green strapless dress with black floral designs down both sides. With a spilt on my left leg, that goes all the down to the floor. Well, not quite to the floor, my four inch heels were stopping from actually touching the ground. Once I had the dress on and was about to walk out my room, someone knocked on my door. “Who is it?” I asked.
“Zane and ReShaun, your brothers. Did you forget that we were where?” Zane said. “No, come in.” I answered.
“Wow, it looks just like Mom’s dress. Although, she had straps. Mom and Dad would very proud of you. Hell, I am positive that they are already. I don’t think a day goes by that they aren’t proud of you.” ReShaun told me.
“Well, don’t you two clean up nicely?”
“We try. We have something that we think Mom would want you to wear.” Zane said as she held out a necklace and walked over to me with it. I moved my hair out of the way and he put the necklace on me, as Huegi walked into the doorway.
“Wow.” Huegi said in complete amazement. All I could do was stand there with a smile plastered to my face like a fool. It took Zane clearing his throat to let us know that they were still standing there. My smile changed into a smirk and I rolled my eyes.
"Everyone ready to go?" Guardian Teno asked.
"Yes."
We walked into the Royal ball room and immediately had all eyes on us. At that moment the Queen gained the attention of her guest. "Welcome everyone, we are here to today to present one Miss Rachel Elaine Jaren with a medal of the highest honor, The Stolian Medallion." She said everyone applauded her as I walked over to her and her husband.
"Tonight we are here to celebrate the lovely young head student and academy Alpha Rachel Elaine Jaren. Who while was not asked or requested to defend my child, from those that are our enemies, but willingly chose to protect her over allowing harm to descend upon her. So, here and now Rachel Elaine Jaren, I King Victor Logan Stolian present you with a greabeen medal." He said putting a necklace around me.
"Well, isn't that a nice sentiment. Yes, please continue on with the ceremony she'll be the last female to ever gain power or status." A man said.
"I can hide everyone, and everything you may see other than myself." I said.
"Yes, I have heard of your extraordinary extra gifts. But, I'm not here for you this time I'm here to prove a point. But, you can watch or be a part of the festivities. If you want of course.” He said. “What is it? I mean what is it you’re after? You clearly could care less about forcing her hand in marriage, what it is you’re really after?” I asked while freezing everyone except him and myself by looking forward then letting it come on its own then going to back to looking forward. Then cloaked them from being seen by him. It worked better than I thought it would.
“Wow, you really are powerful. And correct I could and do care less about her. But I’ve got orders just like you do. I mean as a Guardian you’re limited to what you can and can’t do.” He said.
“I’m not a Guardian. I’m just now starting GST. If you must know. And if you think this is powerful you’ve not seen anything yet.” I said. “Really, wow then I’ve really got my work cut for me. Don’t I?” he said to me.
“You most certainly do.” I told him, kicking him back and flipping backwards. He came at me with a lame (really lame) boring boxing fighting potion. He didn’t really think I was going to go easy on him just because I’m just in GST. I mean really. I’m in GST not pre-k. I blocked and took one to the gut and laughed at him. I did a round house followed be a crescent kick. I then turned into my wolf which seemed to startle him. Once I had him where I wanted him, he tried to attack I ended up killing him and two of the others with him. Once I started turning everyone back to normal, I noticed that one of them managed to kill one of the Guardians sworn to protect the Stolian Royal family. If it wasn’t so dangerous I would try to bring him back. Well, that and its illegal or someone would’ve brought my parents back to life. Yet, something kept telling me I should. But, even if I did have access to The Grave, I wouldn’t my parents can’t be and they’re all with the Goddess Abbya.
You see there is the really old, really powerful grimoire called The Grave. It’s easily the most powerful thing ever created and no one knows how it was created or exactly when it was created. In The Grave are spells that are so deadly that one wrong move while casting any one of them, you could be the one who ends up dead. Not the person that you are trying to curse. The reason that no one in our world has access to it is because the last witch known to have possession of it died before it was rediscovered. And her spirit refuses to cooperate with anyone. And no one knows who the true descendants of the original witch, who owned and created it. But, they are those that still claim that they are, and should have access to the grimoire. But, before she died she declared that only her true family could even access the grimoire. And so most that don’t have access to it anymore think that the council has it locked away with magic. From some randomly equally powerful witch that no one has ever even heard or seen.
“Guardian Teno, get your younger ones out of here. They are the future. They don’t need to be put in the middle of this.” One of the Royal guards told her.
“Amy, Brittany, and Elizabeth get the others in your class or under you out of here now. Where’s Rachel? Huegi, help get the younger ones out of here.” Guardian Teno instructed them.
I was on the other side of the room, defending the Royal family from the worst of the attackers. I had made sure that they were all under my protection circle, before I did anything else. Well, that and made sure that none of them were harmed while I was able to fight. I saw that the others were following orders and wanted to the same. Yet, doing so could mean the end of this Royal family and that was not going to happen on my watch. While making sure no one was able to get to close to the Royal family, I wasn’t watching my left side and ended on my back side before I could react. While making sure that he paid for that I sent the others flying backwards away from the Royal family. There numbers were starting to deplete so they finally decided to pack up and head out before they lost way too many. But, not all of them were able to leave because most of the Royal Guards had them pinned or in custody before they could even blink.
“Your Majesties’ are you alright?” I asked.
“We are fine. Why did you protect us? Why would you risk your life for ours?” the Queen asked.
“That’s the least of my questions. Rachel, how did you stop every one of us dead in our tracks, then undo it? And what were you thinking? You are not a Guardian, yet. You should have just got out of here. And let us handle this. Honestly, Guardian Teno what on the Goddess’s great planet are you teaching them at your base academy. I mean you of all people should know just how dangerous that mistake can be. If you were a student of mine you would be seeing a lot of punishments for being so insubordinate with the rules. My Goddess.” The guardian reprimanded me, like I was some two year old baby.
“First, off she is head student that allows her some leeway with those rules. And she is an Alpha that alone says she has every right to be in the attack with the Guardians. So, now who is in the wrong? Not to mention she is the young woman that just received the Stolian Medallion from your Queen and King. She also protected them when no one else clearly could. If anything she should be receiving accommodations for her actions not reprimanded for them. So, don’t go questioning my teaching methods in front of everyone, when you don’t know all the facts. Am I clear?” Guardian Teno asked.
“Yes, Ma’am. My apologies, Miss Jaren. It won’t happen again.” The Guardian said. Realizing for what was possibly the first time, that Guardian Teno is still every Guardians superior. Even though they might have charges that they have to protect and follow now. Even if they are older than she is, she is still their superior, in every sense of the word.
“Thank you.” I said and was as all I could seem to get to come out of my mouth. I had never taken a life before and now I had taken multiple ones, before everything was said and done. I hadn’t just killed one or two, but I had killed even in defense of others eighteen of the attackers. And replayed every bit of the events in my head, I replayed every possible scenario in my head in those short moments I was left alone. At first I thought maybe I should let others hear what was going on in my head, but knew that the moment Zane heard any of it he would never allow me out of his sight. And I was never going to get anywhere with him constantly watching over me. So, I decided that I was best to block out everyone from hearing what I had to think.
“Rachel, Rachel. RACHEL! Sweetheart, are you alright? You seem to be in a space of your own. You seem to be travel, yet not moving at all.” The Queen asked.
“Sorry, your majesty. I just needed to think for moment. I’m good, but thank you. I am sorry about the Guardians you lost. I wish that I could’ve froze everyone faster than I did. I am truly sorry.” I answered her as
