"Lola is here!"
"Lola? Where?"
"I haven't seen Lola in ages!"
Mrs. Renkins squealed as she opened the taxicab's door for her daughter, Lola, who was spending time for Christmas from college. "Hi, mother! Hello, father! Hello, grandmother! Hi, Lucille! Hi, Lawrence! It's good to see you guys again!" Lola said excitedly.
Mr. Mackenrod, the Renkins's grouchy neighbor, leaned on the fence. "What's all that racket?!" he yelled. Everyone stopped cheering and looked at Mr. Mackenrod. "Lola's home," squeaked little 6-year-old Lucille.
Mr. Mackenrod grunted. "Hmmph!" He stormed back into the house, slamming the screen door shut.
Lola shrugged and said, "let's go inside. Mother, do you have some baked sweet apple-cinnamon pie? I would love some just right now!"
Mother smiled and said warmly, "no, I'm sorry, dear, but do you mind helping me bake one?" Lola nodded and they all went inside. All but Lucille. She was cold, but stared up at the sky. "I wish it would snow here once in a while-on Eighth Street. I could use a little miracle," she said dreamily, and waddled inside the warm house.
The next day, Lucille woke up to a series of cheering. "What?" she whispered.
Lucille looked out her window and saw...a blanket of white. SNOW! Lucille giggled and put on her parka, boots, and hat.
Later on, about ten minutes later, Mrs. Renkins and Lola went outside to find Lucille building a snowman. "Well," said Mrs. Renkins happily, "this is truly a miracle. Lola soon joined Lucille in to a little fun making snow angels, then had a snack of warm apple-cinnamon pie.
