Chapter 6

Once we had all gotten through the portal and I had made sure it had closed without any stowaways, we all sat down exhausted. I sat on the trunk of an young tree that had fallen a long time ago, away from the others. Tess sat next to me under the crook of my arm, as I stroked her hair. Behind me the four people who had come to our rescue... my rescue, sat discussing what to do. What made me angry was that had the others been somewhere else than in the same room as me they would have had to leave them behind.

"Sparrow?" Brandon stepped up behind me Cole next to him. I turned around to look at them. Cole seemed uneasy around me, probably after what he had seen me do. I don't blame him... Brandon put a hand on my shoulder reassuring me.

"We can make a portal to our home base, if you are all ready," They faced us all ready to go. I got off the log and hopped over it. Cole sat next to Tess knowing me.

"What makes you think we are going anywhere with you people?" My voice was angry but controlled, a dangerous glint in my brown eyes.  Nathan looked ashamed while the blue haired girl and teal headed boy looked at Nathan.

"I'm sorry, but you guys can't go back to your homes. None of us can," he said pointing to the others. I stared at him, before turning around.

"Watch me," I said over my shoulder. Stepping into a clearing I pictured my room and a portal of silver swirled before me. Brandon stood up to follow and Cole picked up Tess. We all walked through the portal, even the others followed. Body guards. I thought bitterly but let it drop. In my room I stood in shock. I looked around at the upturned place. My bed sheets were pulled away from my bed. The mattress had a slit down the center stuffing lying on the floor. My pictures of Tess, dad and I were missing, and my books lay on the floor pages bent or torn. I looked around furiously and looked at Brandon.

"Stay here," I opened the door and walked down the hall. I looked around searching for anyone hiding. I went down the steps on quiet feet, and turned into the living room with a cry of horror. Brandon came down the steps and stood behind me, before he grasped my shoulder and turned me away holding me close. Tears fell unchecked down my cheeks. This was too much too much. I wanted to scream to explode in the face of the one who did this. I wanted nothing more to tear their face apart with my teeth.

"We need to leave Sparrow. We can't be here anymore, the police will find this sooner or later and we can't be around when it happens," Brandon pulls me upstairs and wipes my tears away. I look into his face, the person I cared so much about, the one who protected me from bullies the first time I entered the school, the one who always had my back. I look down the hall to my room, then back at him.

"What... what about your...," he dosnt say anything but the look on his face says enough. I walk to Tesses room and grab her favorite stuffed animal, a little horse she called Oreo because it was white with black tack. Taking a breath I walk back to the group in my room and Nathan opens a portal. We all walk through and before stepping through I stare at the house I had come to love. Never would I see it again. The portal closes and down in the living room, the blue and gold carpet is stained forever with dark red blood. At the center of that stain lays the body of a young man, with dark black hair streaked with grey and bright blue eyes, lays lifeless on the floor never to say goodbye to his girls.

Chapter 7

"We are not your enemy's! We came to find you...,"

"That's why my fathers dead and my sister and Brandon's brother almost got KILLED!"

"We didn't mean for them to get..,"

"No! Because you didn't think! You wanted to use me! You weren't thinking of the costs!" I was furious and the band on my arm was glowing increasingly brighter. Nathan and I have been arguing ever since we came through the portal leaving behind my world into a new one that was so beautiful I wanted to rip it apart. The girl with purple hair and purple Arc who's name I still haven't learned stood aways away from us with the other two people who came to rescue me so they could recruit me in their little fight against the God of Destruction. Brandon stepped in and grabbed my arm steering me away from them. He continued to drag me out of the marble building carved with intricate patterns that we had walked into through the portal. Outside the building, the sky is blue with little fluffy clouds, the grass is green and trees dot the little floating island. Yes we are on a floating island. In fact there are several islands floating in the blue sky. The highest one held the temple we were walking away from, the lowest ones have villages and little farm land, the few just below the temple had warrior training grounds, and housing.

Brandon lets go of my arm as we get to the edge of the island, and I step forward and off the edge. The falling sensation was replaced by a peaceful state of mind. I could care less if I was falling, in fact I enjoyed it. Its exhilarating, and I feel as free as a bird. I roll in the air onto my stomach and in my mind the image of a massive white bird filled my thoughts. The transformation takes place and my arms grow feathers, my feet become talons, my senses sharpen. As the ground comes closer to me, my wings jut out away from my body and I jolt to a stop. I flap hard and glide through air currents back to the islands. I look like a white phenix my wings almost silver in the sun, my powerful arms flapping pushing air down, my eyes have turned silver while in transformations. I glide down to the second highest island and talons extended I land onto the roof of the two story, spruce house, its roof made of spruce logs. There's a perch on top of the house built so I could land without trouble. Folding my wings in I pivot my head to look up at where Brandon sits waiting. I launch back into the air shooting up like a rocket. Grabbing Brandon with my talons I glide back down to the house. I set him in the grass and hovering a few seconds I land.

"I'll never get used to you turning into things I never thought existed," Cole comes out shaking his head in wonder. As the white feathers disappear I stand a few feet away from Brandon who has already embraced his brother.

"Where's Tess?" I ask as I walk to the huge spacious house. Tess runs out through the door and collides into my legs and hugs tightly. I pat her head with a chuckle before picking her up. I set her on my shoulders and she extends her arms pretending to fly. I smile, glad that she's safe and happy. I look over at Cole who has definitely been working out. His scrawny arms have become corded muscle, his back starter and his stride purposeful. Brandon notices this as well but just smiles.
