“My name is n-Nathan Smith. I have super human strength.” Everyone in the cabin started cracking up. Only the flight attendants looked serious. He sighed and looked around at the people trying to contain themselves. He reached out and grabbed Austin by the shirt, lifting him from his seat and holding him above his head. Austin was white with fear.“Believe me now?” he asked the cabin. Everyone was dead silent. The girl next to him cleared her throat and I turned to look at her.
She looked just like me.
Chapter 5
“Hello my name is Ramona Bishop. I have to do everything and anything anyone tells me. My body will fallow any command given until the command is revoked or completed. For example, if someone said ‘Ramona, jump off the plane.’ I would do anything to fulfill your command, and I mean anything. I will do it without complaint and without a frown. I will never ask for you to revoke the command no matter what.” she said as I stared, open-mouthed at her. She gave the compartment a sad-eyed look and sat down. The others fallowed her to there seats.A flight attendant stood up.
“Everyone please sit up and fasten your seat belts we will be landing shortly!” she said in her perky voice. I buckled in while I though about Ramona. She is my exact opposite, and my exact twin. How could to people who look exactly the same be so different? How come I had all this power and she had none at all? Why was I blessed and she cursed?
Before I could get answers to any of my questions the plane rumbled onto the air strip. A loud male voice call on the intercom.
“Welcome, result group five eighteen. You have just landed in Los Angeles International Airport, more commonly known as LAX. The airport is not actually in Los Angeles. The city is about two miles off shore and one hundred feet below sea level. You will be swimming to the sea level dock, an approximately two mile swim. Your life attendants will give you further instructions.” There was a loud burst of static as the speaker cut off.
I looked up at the front of the plane to see that our flight attendants had been replaced. In there place were five guys and five girls, each wearing a white tee-shirt and dark blue jean and smiling. A man who looked exactly like Austin stepped forward.
“Hello my name is Jonas Five-Eight. The Life attendant for one. I am head life attendant for group five-eighteen. Life attendants are like guidance councilors, helpful roommates, and best friends all at the same time. You do everything with your life attendant; eat, sleep, be tested, do missions, the works. You are to be with your life attendant at all times, being caught without your life attendant has serious repercussions. I will now assign life attendants, when you name is called your life attendant will step forward and come stand next to you.” He told us while smiling like an idiot.
“Austin, with me. Gwyneth you are with Emma.” A short woman with waist length dirty blond hair stepped up next to Gwyn. “Braden, you have Aden.” A huge, dark-skinned man with a shaved head walked down the isle to Braden. He wasn’t smiling “Mackenzie, your attendant is Morgan.” A tall, skinny woman with spiked black hair sighed and stood next to Mackenzie. “Ramon, you got Monroe.” A more toned and more tanned Ramon walked down the isle and gave Ramon a bro-five.
“Regina you get-” A woman who resembled an older me stepped up. “-Georgia.” he and Regina said at the same time.

“Oh my god.” I said in earnest shock. My own sister; here. I can not believe it. Of all the people to meet here I meet a long lost sister and a hidden twin. I jumped out of my seat and gave her a big hug.
“Hello, Gae it’s been a while hasn’t it.” She said as she hugged me back. “Now sit down so we can continue.” she said as she gave me a another hug. I sat down and thought about my last few days as Jonas read of the rest of the pairs.
“Ok! Now that you all have assistants you can go for a swim, but there are a few rules. You may not help any other contestants and you may not ask for help. Your assistants may not assist you and you may not assist them. You each get one assisting device. Your choices are; a life vest, swim fins, grappling hook and rope, snorkel, or a whistle. There are two of each so lets start. Ladies first, of course and in numerical order. So Gwyneth, your pick.”
She picked swim fins, which was practical I guess; for someone from the colony of lakes, but I couldn’t help feeling that one of the other choices would be worth more. Mackenzie picked a grappling hook; good for someone from the cold mountain colony. Now it was my turn. Should I get a life vest? I haven't been swimming in forever so that is probably the safest option, but I have a good feeling about that whistle.
“I’ll take the whistle.” I said with absolute confidence. I heard some laughing from the back of the cabin but I collected my whistle anyway and sat back down. Erica took the snorkel, which fit a girl from the man made island colony. Ramona took the whistle. Copy cat! I don’t really think I like my twin that much. She is nothing like me. She is a follower and I am a leader. She is like my negative, but whatever. Time for the guys to choose.
Austin pick the swim fins, probably to keep up with Gwyn. Braden picked life vest. Ramon picked a grappling hook. Rune picked a snorkel and Nathan took the life vest he was handed even though he probably wanted a grappling hook.
“Ok contestants, there is one more thing. A prize. The first one to shore gets a bonus of ten thousand chips. Chips are the currency of Los Angeles. fifteen chips is the price of a taxi from one side of the city to the other. Let’s get going.!”
When I saw the steps of the plane I realised that they went right into the water. Guess I was skinny dipping. So I stepped in and swam a bit to get away from the steps and blew my whistle. I waited for a second until i saw a ripple in the distance. Never mind two ripples moving fast. When I saw it I gasped and nearly swallowed water. A narwhal with a saddle came up and turned for me to climb on. A narwhal, in the Pacific? Whatever! I hopped on and we sped off, neck and neck with Ramona.
“Faster Mr. Narwhal!” I commanded as he rocketed with me barely holding on. In minutes we reached the city, but when I turned around Ramona and her narwhal were gone. I climbed onto the platform and dismissed my faithful narwhal. The woman on the platform gave me a towel to wrap around myself as I waited for the others.
In a few minutes the boat full of Life assistance pulled up with an excited Mackenzie and Ramon in tow. Three of ten contestants accounted for. Nine of ten life assistants?
“Jonas, where’s Georgia?” I asked him as he got off the boat. He looked me in the eye and I could see the fiery hate in his eye, and I also saw the hurt that was with it.
“Hopefully sinking. Maybe she was eaten by the squid.”
“Why it my sister in the water and not on the boat!” He started to walk away. “Come back and answer me!” I know I shouldn't use my talent on him but I needed a strait answer.
“She cheated on me. We were engaged and she cheated on me with Monroe. How she did it I’m not sure, I have the same talent Austin has so I’m very lovable. The law of Los Angeles says that cheating in punishable by death, and the cheated gets to decide how. But you don’t have to worry about cheating, it’s not punishable until age twenty-one.” He told me in a robotic, trance-like voice.
So she is dead or will be and I don’t even know what happened to my other sister. This place seems to be a little more dangerous than I had first thought.
“Oh and Jonas,” I called after him,”where is Ramona?” He turned around and said “She tried to help Braden. He didn’t accept her help, but since she offered the squid grabbed her. I thin, well that is what should have happened but who knows.” He said and went to check on Ramon and Mackenzie.
I stood, staring at the ocean for about an hour until, Gwyn and Austin swam up and climbed on to the platform. So now we have five contestants on the platform, one dead and four still at sea. Well this has been a good day, I run into my old sister, I meet a new sister, and they both died. Storybook tragedy. I sat, wallowing in my irony until Erica and Rune popped out of the water, exhausted and breathing hard. About five minutes after that Braden and Nathan came in.
“All right everyone is here so lets get down into the city. Shannon can you get the elevator,” He told the woman who had been at the platform when I had arrived. “And a big congratulations to the winner of our challenge, Regina of six” He told everyone without looking at me. Just then I heard a rumbling and a ding to my left. I turned to see two metal doors where rock walls were a few minute earlier.
“Girls in the left elevator and guys in the right. When we get down to the city a guild will lead you
