Ava's POV:

Just as I was about to say something, I felt a presence behind me. But, before I can turn around...

"Mind if I join in," a new voice called.

"Yes," The man I was dancing with said rudely. But, the man ignored him, the man looked than looked at me. He has beautiful brown eyes with little subtle. He forwarded his hand to me.

"Alpha Chase... But you can call me chase," he said and winked at me. I blushed and took his hand.

"Ava,".

"Beautiful," he whispered.

"Stop it, chase," the man beside me grumbled.

"What jealous,"? chase asked teasingly making the man scoff.

"What got you panties in twi...," Chase started but cut in the middle when he saw something behind us. I followed his line of sight to see the same girl, now making out with a boy.

"You gotta tell her brother. Don't be like a sore loser," Chase laughed at him.

"Come beautiful, let's dance," chase took my hand and started swaying to the music.

"Tell me about yourself," chase suddenly asked making me look at him in confusion.

"Nothing is interesting about me," I shook my head at him.

"A beautiful girl like you will have deep secrets in the depth of her heart," he whispered and I looked at him appalled. What does he mean by this?

"Excuse me," I asked.

"I mean, a beautiful girl like you can't be toned down," chase winked at me and I shook my head at him. We were talking about random things and danced slowly. He was an easy-going guy. I was having fun with him when I stepped on his foot making him yelp.

"Oh my... I'm so sorry," I quickly looked down at his feet. Although he was in his shoes but my heels were dug deep in his little finger.

"It's okay," chase smiled reassuringly.

"I'm a black dancer," I mumbled making him laugh. He shook his head and smiled hearteningly. He was about to say something when I was yanked from his arms to a hard chest. I gasped at the sudden action but, relaxed when I smelled the familiar intoxicating scent. I looked up to see that Alpha Xavier was fuming. His whole body was shaking in fury, and his eyes were pitched black.

"MINE," he growled at chase. His arms tightened around my waist, nails digging into my skin making me yelp. I looked down at his fingers to see that they were changing into claws. He was close to shifting. He took a step forward to chase to attack him. I didn't know what came over me but, I turned around and wrapped my arms around his neck. I nuzzled his neck and ran my finger in his hair. He was breathing heavily. I tightened my hold on him. We stayed like that. I felt his body relaxing and slowly he wrapped his arms around my waist, putting his face in my neck, sniffling my neck. When I felt him relax completely, I slowly pulled away making him growl. I look at him to see that his eyes were back to normal.

"Are you okay," I asked softly. He nodded, his eyes softening as he looked at me. But, his gaze hardened when he looked behind me. I look behind to see that chase has his hands raised in the air, showing that he surrender and means no harm.

"Alpha Xavier," chase started but Alpha Xavier growled at him making him stop in his tracks.

"MINE," Alpha Xavier growled again making him stop. I look at chase and he got the message. He left us alone. The rest of the night Alpha Xavier didn't leave my hand. When I tried to take my hand back, he would growl and tighten his hold on me. The dinner was announced and we went towards the eating area. After everyone came around, the dinner started. Alpha Kevin sat on the head of the table with Lily on his right and Alpha Xavier on his left. They were talking about pack duties making me bored as hell. I glanced at Lily to see she was mirroring my expressions making me giggle. Alpha Xavier looked at me and I quickly coughed covering my giggles. He shook his head at me, and I poked my tongue out at him making Alpha Kevin laugh. I quickly looked away, red coating my cheeks.

We were in the middle of our dinner when a guard came running toward us. He stopped near Alpha Kevin's seat and bowed a little. His whole body was glistening in sweat and he was shaking to his bones.

"Al-Alpha," he said and Alpha Kevin nodded at him.

"You have to come with us," he said making me confused but looking at Alpha Kevin and Lily it's like they weren't as confused as everyone. Alpha Kevin quickly stood up and almost ran in that direction, followed by Lily. Alpha Xavier also stood up, and we all went outside. There was a strange dread and quietude in the darkness. A chill ran down my spine. We all went towards the end of the border and what we saw, made me chill to my bones.

A girl around my age was hanged from a tree and a large hole was in her neck, the place where the shoulder and collarbone meet. Her whole body was purple as if the last drop of blood was sucked from her body. Her clothes were torn and there was a large gash on her stomach. I quickly looked away unable to hold the sight.

"Again," Lily muttered terrified and I looked at her.

"What do you mean again,"? I asked her and she looked at me.

"From the past few months, our pack has been a dupe of such horrible attacks. We didn't know who they are or what they want. They kidnap young girls and the next day they're hanging in the same way...," Alpha Kevin trailed off looking at the hanging girl.
