I was in deep thought when I heard a voice, in my head that I’ve been wanting to hear in a long time, “Hello brother!” I looked up and there stood Mylicious. He was speaking a different language that had to register in my head. It was an odd language that I now know as the Eskimo language.
“Well, you are alive,” I said and even though I was excited to see him, I didn’t show it, “Where have you been?”
“Somewhere very cold, somewhere I call home,”
“That must be nice, I can’t seem to call anywhere home, anywhere I’ve considered it, trouble follows. I’ve been here not even a whole day and yet, here you are.”
“That’s no way to be brother.”
“It’s the only way to be brother. I haven’t heard from you since Gomorrah, why bother me now?”
“I’m worried about you, I never got explain myself,” he said, and I could feel the hurt in his voice.
“Sit then, explain yourself, not that it will change anything,” I said.
“I hope it changes the hate you have in your heart for me,” he sat down, and it was then I noticed how long his hair had gotten, he had it pulled back in ponytail and braided. My hair had grown back a lot since being burned off, but it wasn’t as long as his, I was somewhat jealous.
“The night you were forced upon,” he swallowed hard, “they came to me. They wanted me help in some way, they didn’t say, but I said no and I tried to stop them, Lilith threw silver chains on me. She shackled me while Derium just stood there, he didn’t seem himself, he appeared to be under her control. I wanted to help you, but I couldn’t get free,” he said and started to cry.
“I don’t care, Derium could have gotten away from her, he didn’t, he chose to let you get shackled and chose to idly stand by and watch what happened to me.”
“It might be wrong of me to ask, but have you seen or heard from Derium?”
“Not since I removed his head and buried it,” I said.
“You did what?”
“I removed his head and buried it, I was going to kill him, but Lucifer made me promise not to. So, I removed his head and buried it. I kept his body in the mountains,” I said with a smile on my face.
“What mountains, I wish to find my brother, I wish you would ask him for forgiveness,”
“Forgiveness? What he did was unforgivable, but if you’re wanting to know what mountains, they’re over there,” I pointed in direction of the Carpathian Mountains, “somewhere. When you find the travelers in wagon huts you will find the mountains. I hope you get stuck up there with his body and never find his head.”
“Don’t be angry with me,” Mylicious said, at first it was good to hear his voice but the more he talked the more it got on my nerves, “Do you remember where you buried his head,”
“Find the body and his head is a night’s travel away.”
“Which direction?”
“Chose a direction, I’m not making it that simple, I’ve already told you more than I should have. If all you’re going to do is inquire about Derium go back to being gone,” I said and turned my attention back to the moon and the ocean.
“My dear brother how time has hardened you.”
“If you knew what I’ve been through since we saw each other last, you’d understand.”
“I have all the time in the world, lets talk brother, lets catch up.”
I looked at him and could see sincerity in his eyes. He really wanted to talk to me. So we did, I told of what I did to Lilith, which he described at “brutal” and talked of my good times with Noemi. Then told him of my previous encounters, which then he told me, he was warned as well not to get involved. Mylicious talked of escaping to one of the coldest places he’d ever visited. He got there by ship and the ship took off and left him stranded. There were other furry animals that lived there, and he had to stay in wolf form to keep from freezing. He dug out a large place under the ice. He thought at first, he wasn’t ever going to get out of the place, but he found a small boat along the shore and traveled to a place that was green and had an abundance of food, but there were people also. He would take what he needed and return to his home. After many years of living there, he had so many torches it was bright as daylight in there. He had so much food that was frozen he quit hunting and just started eating what he had. He then told me, he heard me call out to him one day and after much deliberation, he wanted to find me. The way he acted though, he acted like there was more to tell but he didn’t want to at the time.
I felt more at ease with him after we talked, my hurt had lifted from my heart. He couldn’t have helped he was chained up and I believed him, finally, that he couldn’t get free and that he wanted to help me. Mylicious took a canteen from his side and took a big swig from it, cringed, puckered and smacked his lips together.
“What that hell is that?” I asked.
“I made this myself, I call it the wolf’s cry.”
“Why is called that?” I asked.
“Try some brother,” he said with a smirk on his face.
I took the canteen, the hair on it was smooth and felt like velvet under my fingertips. I took a gulp of
