I am Yasmeen Arafat, a college student in the faculty of English arts. I am so fond of reading English novels and poems for the English legends: Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Hawthorne, Bronte, etc...
This is one of my short stories that belongs to the fantasy category, where there is always a prince and princess, but it's not stereotypical. The heroine is a poor young talented girl who adores playing violin, didn't believe in herself the same as her mother, until one day she believed in herself again and everything in her life changed to better.
She stood on stage
A shadowed figure
Black and white faded background
And the extreme quieting of the room
Deafening.
One would assume
Her speech would have been of an eloquent nature
Her mouth opened
No words emerged
The audience waited
With bated breath
But the silence of the room
Spoke volumes
What does one say?
When the final door of ones journey
is near to enter
and only memories are left
Perhaps distorted
Perpetual scenes always would occur
As one thinks back
And I
In my child like wonder
