Boy then to every go astray….
Baby….Baby keep me on your mind because I’m in love with you,
Boy and this heart never lie.
Baby…Baby…Baby trust in what I say, I’d rather hurt myself, boy then to every go astray”
His eyes water tears of endearment, words slip from his lips to me,
“My love be gentle, my live is blind, and I shall love another until the end of time.”
In that divine moment my eyes opened wide.
Missing you
Until you come back to me I’ll be in alpha stage.
Mind in amazement; engaging in thoughts of you.
My hands reminisce of your skin, your cologne’s scent over came me.
I loved your being.
Your emerald eyes glowed upon my face.
The way your hands felt as you touched me sent me to a place of euphoria.
Until you come back to me.
I’ll be missing you.
These reminiscences clog my visions my iris read your depth.
I was completely glued’.
Your kisses were cool, fresh when you laid them upon my breast.
Your voice deep; making me feel comfortable in the moment.
Sewn through me your thread is stitched deep.
We forever bonded.
I can’t deny you.
Until you come back to me, I’ll whisper your name in the darkness of the night.
That’s what I’m going to do.
It was a rainy day
It was a rainy day as I walked through the gray shadows of the Manhattan buildings which masked my existence from the sun’s beaming rays.
The cemented streets were cold and damp from the drizzle that had cleansed the air of impurities just moments before. It was then at that moment- time had no reason- my heart stopped, my soul then leaped from my body and laid upon your lips a kiss.
I saw you walking across the street you smiled I waved so casually. I thought you noticed me; however, we continued our separate journeys. I turned and stared at you from a distance, your image forever imprinted in my heart and mind.
I thought I saw you crossing the street, you smiled, and I waved so casually. I thought you noticed me, but time has erased our harmony.
I could have cried when you passed me by. I thought you seen me crossing the street you smiled I waved so casually. I thought you noticed me, but we continued walking separately.
I could have died as you passed me by. As my pugnacious eyes begin to water. I continued strolling. The wet leaves smelled of pine as I could feel the sadness within in me growing. Then you called out my name. It was like a dream. I turned to my love,
Face, first full of disappointment transitioned to glee.
You began walking towards me then you stood and looked in amazement your face elated. You threw your massive arms around me. I felt your heart beating profusely. Yes, please still love me- played like a broken record in my mind.
As we stood there in-between Manhattan streets- you whispered to me,
“I’ve missed you so much- I thought you noticed me.”
I cut my hair off
I have seen the hill top, now I’m head strong.
I cut my hair off; I feel my spirit has grown.
Natural black beauty is obsolete.
The pride from my ancestors emanate from my hair follicles to the base of my feet.
I have seen the hill top, I knew that it exists.
Loving myself got me to the top of it.
Never knew a love so bliss, until I cut my hair off and shit I ain’t ashamed of it.
You know Black beauty was beat out of me long ago.
I’ve been designated as fat, stupid, crippled even a hoe.
My universe was phlegmatic thought I could never be bold.
Yet long and behold came Shaniqua, my ebony soul sista bursting through me.
She is my symphony; I have seen the hill top. Now I know the sky is the limit.
I plan on taking you there to see this blessed exhibit.
The afro pick fist at first I didn’t get it.
However now I understand its existence.
Hale your Queen to be, Sugar I feel good all over.
I’ve got my sanity; I am not this shell, but what lies beneath.
I’ve been to the hill top.
The sun burned my head I stayed so long I began to grow dreads.
It took me a while, climbing to my destiny, temptations and situations made me stop.
But to the top was my destination, envious faces didn’t want me to see it.
The world is mine, I must seed it.
My light is shinning brightly can’t you see it?
I have seen the hill top!
Marva’s Waltz…
Ms. Marva Lashawn Daniels, my auntie was a beautiful woman. I remember the way she walked; it was a sight to see. I never could mock her, because she had her own unique step. When I was a little girl I’d watch her put make-up on in the mirror as she prepared to go to the nightclub. She’d always do this stare at herself. Her lips would half pucker and she’d stare at her self intensely. One eye would slightly squint as if she was sour to her self or so fine that she blinded herself. I thought she was crazy for that. In my love for her, I wrote Marva’s Waltz soon after she fell sick. All the time I dream of her and how she use to be.
Marva’s Waltz
Shimmy it to the left!
Shimmy it to the right!
You have all eyes on you when you walk into a room.
Men glance grabbing your hands, begging you for a chance as you waltz their way.
That laugh that grabs you!
That smile that excites you!
All eyes are thunderstruck from the excitement that you bring!
Your smile makes people stand, clap their hands; they just love to be in your presents.
To be in your comfort zone, just to hear your voice, so soft and serene.
Yea girl, you are beauty and beauty is you.
That rump, that junk in her trunk
That swings left to right, as her body sways to the rhythm of its own beat.
Never tripping over her two feet,
She is a Lady. She represents integrity.
She is so unique.
A Black queen seen by many; as she shimmies across the street.
This Queen can make a blind man see!
Ladies get jealous when she waltzes by, they know that their man will glance and say hi.
They always give her a sneer or stare,
But she does not care.
Because she knows that, no one can compare to her and her ebony physique.
So well preserved!
She deserves to be stared at like dessert!
Miss Marva’s body flirts as she waltzes down the curb.
She is eye candy; she is like a fantasy as she
Shimmies it to the left!
And Shimmies it to the right!
Marva’s Waltz!
I am as hot….
I love the way that sounds. The woman that I am, I’m the most precious being. I believe that I know how to love someone completely. I believe in there is more to a relationship than just a physical connection. The quiet moments together makes a relationship worth while.
I wrote this poem when I was in a moment of longing, longing to be cherished by a glorious man. I was living in a one bedroom, toilet running apartment. I often sat alone on my couch. I would write until my mind was blank. In this poem I felt like a deity, a Goddess.
I was feeling beautiful and head strong. I think that I’m a treasure and only a select few would ever marvel at my diamonds and pearls.
I am as hot as the summer’s heat
I am as hot as the summer’s heat and as cool as the breeze that seeps through your linen sheets.
I am a Beautiful Ebony Queen; now bow to your knees.
I am a Black woman soaring and the diamonds and pearls of the earth.
No one can destroy me.
Honey glassed hips, caramel scented lips full and juicy.
My touch warm and soothing, I can taste the sky at the ends of my fingertips.
The clouds are soft and moist.
The sun is like a sour lemon- drop that awakens my enchanting voice.
I drank the rain to maintain my existence.
Ooh and I can’t wait until the sunsets.
The clouds fade into pink and purple liquid, which melt onto my breast
and glisten all over my body as I welcome the night’s darkness.
“Hello Night, how sweet it tis to see your stars shine so bright!”
My rain roles off my anatomy into the sea making it roar full of ecstasy.
Mine eyes stare at Midnight Sky.
I smile swaying my hand into the rippled sea splashing it into the sky.
I lay in the darkness awaiting my Dark King.
A man full of gallantry; coming to save me.
After the sunsets, he comes and gives me his best!
His force is like no other because he puts the earth to rest.
He gives me love so heavy when his midnight eyes pears mines.
Midnight makes me unwind.
He plucks the stars from the sky like grapes and feeds them to me.
He wipes my mouth with a cloud, then bends over and kisses me.
I smile at his face because I know he has missed me.
I caress his back and kiss his chest.
My lips suck while my tongue role up and down his neck.
He hums full of pleasure; I love hearing him sing.
Beautiful, black man I am your Black Queen.
Let me cradle you, lie inside of these two arms.
I’ll rock you slowly I’ll be sincere, I’ll love you kindly.
I’ll be your red rose budding from your seeds.
A Black woman soaring, I am the diamonds and pearls of the earth!
Honey glassed hips, caramel scented lips full and juicy.
My touch is warm and soothing.
I can taste the sky at the ends of my fingertips.
They are so soft and moist.
The sun is like a sour lemon- drop that awakens my enchanting voice.
I stare at you while you sleep
I stare at you while you sleep.
I admire you while you sleep so peacefully.
Beautiful Lady you created me.
And I thank you.
A warm embrace from you is all I’ve ever needed.
I’ve succeeded throughout my life because of you.
Lady you taught me, you brought me to this place while holding on to your faith in me.
Your warm embrace; your beautiful face.
That is why I watch you while you’re sleeping so peaceful.
So engaging beautiful black lady; sleeping so calm like a baby.
To remember your face; to remember your face.
I must stare so that my mind won’t erase your beauty; but stain the image of you,
Like a portrait in the back of my mind.
So soothing to my emotions to see your mind and body is at ease.
I breathe because I’m thee, a mirror image of my mother’s beauty.
I watch you while you’re sleeping your glow soft and calming.
I watch you while you’re sleeping because my love will stand the test of time.
Little Girl
This ailing inside of me is familiar to some
To many this sickness may seem make-believe.
