I woke up this morning to Taaron looking down at me with love in his eyes. I smiled up at him, as he leaned down as kissed me softly on my lips. He reached down to my swollen belly and placed his hands on it, still looking me in the eyes.
âGood morning beautifulâ. Taaron said.
âGood morningâ.
âIâm really excited to find out the sex of our baby today, but what else do you want to doâ? Taaron asked.
âNot sure, I was thinking about going to hang out with hang out with Carmen and the girls todayâ.
âOkay, but be careful. We still havenât figured out why those rouge wolves are on our territory. I donât know what I would do if anything happened to youâ.
âI know babe. I am going to go get ready for the doctorâs officeâ.
I got up out of bed and went into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and turning the hot water on to the shower. I undressed my swollen body and stepped into the running water, washing my body and hair. I got out of the shower and dried my body off, and then I went back into my bedroom. I looked in my closet for something that would fit me, but most of my clothes are too small now. Since all of my pants that fitted me were dirty, I decided to grab a pair of Taaronâs basketball shorts. I put on my panties and bra and then Taaronâs shorts and one of his white shirts. Then I put on my flip flops and made my way downstairs, which I tried to avoid as much as possible since half of the pack is still living at my dadâs house and the other half at my uncles. Most of the pack was in the living room, watching a movie of some sort. I went into the kitchen and poured me a big bowl of captain crunch. After pouring my cereal and milk in a bowl, I went to the kitchen counter and took a seat. I couldnât see Taaron anywhere, so I figured he was in the shower or something.
âHey darling, how are you feeling todayâ? My mother asked.
âI feel like a whale, but other than that Iâm greatâ.
âYouâre not a whaleâ.
âItâs a figure of speech momâ.
âWhatâs a figure of speechâ? Taaron asked, walking into the kitchen out of nowhere.
âMe being a whaleâ.
âWell, youâre not one. Itâs just my little girl in thereâ.
âWhat are you going to do when you find out it isnât a girl Taaronâ? I asked sarcastically.
âOh itâs a girl, Iâm sure of itâ.
âOkay well find out today, but what if itâs a boyâ?
âThen itâs a boy. Iâll love it no matter what, but if it is not a girl, we are going to be having another baby soon after that one because I want a girlâ.
âOh really. I donât think soâ.
âDonât think whatâ?
âWe are not having another baby soon after this one. Itâs miserable and youâre not the one that has to deal with it allâ.
âI might not have to deal with it all, but trust me I have to deal with your mood changes and everything else that comes along with itâ.
âThatâs differentâ.
âIf you say soâ.
âI doâ.
âBy the way, why are you wearing my clothesâ?
âNone of my clothes fit me and all of my stretchy shorts are dirty. Anyways, Iâm allowed to wear your things if I wantâ.
âWhatever, are you ready to goâ?
âMaybeâ.
We got up from the kitchen counter and left the house in Taaronâs car. He drove us to the doctorâs office and we sat in the waiting room, for what seemed like forever. The nurse came out.
âLyla Montgomeryâ. The nurse announced.
Taaron got up out of his chair and helped me up out of mine; we followed the nurse in the back room. She weighed me and I gained another five pounds. Then she took us to a room to get examined by the doctor. After twenty minutes of waiting, the doctor finally came in. We chose to have a male doctor.
âLyla, Taaron. How are you guys doing todayâ? Dr. Thompson asked.
âWe are good, just excited about finding out he sexâ. Taaron said.
âOkay, well there is a couple of things we are going to be doing today. First one is finding out the sex of the baby and the second one is going to be making a birthing planâ.
âA what planâ? Taaron asked
âA birthing plan. It is where we decided which course of action you want to take in having the babyâ.
âI want a natural birthâ. I said.
âAlright, we can do that. Do you want any medications or noâ?
âIâm not sure, I would like to try it without any medications, but if I canât do it, then Iâll have themâ.
âOkay then, thatâs our birthing plan. Now, lift your shirt up and lay backâ.
Dr. Thompson placed a towel around my waist of the shorts and another one around the waist of my shirt, which was now lifted up. He then grabbed this goo stuff and squirted it on my belly. It was really cold. Then he grabbed the sonogram and started rubbing it across my stomach. I could hear the heartbeat as he checked the baby out. Once he was done, he wiped the goo off of me and helped me sit back up.
âOkay, the baby is healthy so thatâs a good thingâ. Dr. Thompson said.
âWhat are we havingâ? Taaron asked eagerly.
âYou are having a little boyâ.
âA boy! I was sure it was a little girl. Check again pleaseâ? Taaron said.
âI am a hundred percent that it is a boyâ. Dr. Thompson said.
âOkay fine, itâs a boyâ.
The doctor left, after telling me he wanted to see me in two weeks. Taaron helped me off the table and we walked out of the doctorâs office and drove back home. I didnât go inside the house, instead I went to my car and drove to Carmenâs house, since she was waiting for me.
âHey girl. How did your appointment goâ? Carmen asked.
âIt went good. We are having a little boyâ.
âOh, I bet Taaron is beat up about that oneâ.
âYeah, he hasnât stopped talking about having another kid within a year after this one is bornâ.
âJeeze, I am sure he will get used to the ideal of having a boy and he is going to be a great father no matter whatâ.
âI hope so, because right now, Iâm not so sureâ.
âIt will be alright, so what do you want to do todayâ?
âGo shopping, I need maternity clothesâ.
âLet me grab my purse and then we will goâ.
I drove Carmen and I to the mall, listening to music the whole way there. Once we got to the mall, we went to the Maternity clothing store. Most of the clothes were ugly, but I did find me a couple pairs of pants to wear. I decided I would just keep wearing Taaronâs shirts. I was starving by the time we left that store, so we decided to go to the food court. I went to subway, while Carmen got in the Taco bell line. While I was in line to get my food, this guy from behind me was looking at me strangely.
âCan I help youâ? I asked the random creepy guy staring at me.
âIs your name Lyla Montgomeryâ? He asked.
âYes, whyâ?
âMy pack has been looking for youâ.
âYour whatâ?
âMy packâ.
âYeah I heard that. Why are they looking for meâ.
âI canât explain it right now, just know that we will get a hold of you and then you will be safeâ.
âI am safeâ.
âYou will never be safe Lyla. Youâre a chosen oneâ.
âWhatâs your nameâ?
âIâm Michael. Please, keep you and the baby safe. Iâll be in touchâ.
After that Michael just walked away, nowhere to be found. That was a little creepy I thought to myself. I need to find out what Chosen one means. I hurriedly got my food and made my way back over to Carmen. I ate my food silently, because I was a little freaked out at what just happened.
âAre you alrightâ? Carmen asked me, while we were throwing our trash away.
âYeah, Iâm fine. Letâs go look at some baby thingsâ.
âAlright, if youâre sure your fineâ.
âIâm sureâ.
We walked to baby R Us and looked at the clothes. I found this really cute outfit that said âDaddyâs boyâ on is so, I decided to get it. I didnât really want to do anymore baby shopping without Taaron being with me, so we left the store. I drove Carmen back to her house and dropped her off and then I rushed back to my dadâs house. Taaron was waiting on the front steps pacing back and forth, when I got to the house.
âWhatâs wrongâ? I said rushing over to him.
âNothing, just worried about you. You have been gone for three hours and I thought something happened to youâ.
âYou could have called meâ.
âI tried; you left your phone on the kitchen counterâ.
âIâm sorry babe. I was at the mall with Carmenâ.
âItâs alrightâ. Taaron came up to me and embraced me into a bear hug.
âSo, what did you get at he mallâ? Taaron asked.
âSome maternity pants and the baby an outfitâ. I showed him the outfit that I got the baby and Taaron was really excited again. I could tell he was happy because his eyes were glistening in happiness. We went upstairs to our room and laid down for a nap. I completely forgot about Michael guy, I ran into at the mall, until we were eating dinner.
âWhatâs the chosen oneâ? I abruptly blurted out at the dining table.
âWhere did you hear thatâ? Nathaniel my father said.
âSomeone came up to me at the mall today and said I was the chosen oneâ.
âI think I would know if my daughter was the chosen oneâ. Nathaniel said.
âHow would you know, you never even been aroundâ.
âI just would know Lyla, we will talk about this another time. This is not the right place to talk about itâ.
âFine, whatever. I am going for a walk. Iâll be back shortlyâ.
I got up from the table and left the house, walking down the path that leads to the park. I decided to go over to the swings and sit on them.
âLyla, what are you doing out here by yourselfâ? Michael asked.
âIâm thinkingâ.
âWell, this is not being safe. You are the chosen one and you need to keep yourself safeâ.
âWhat is the chosen oneâ?
âThereâs a family of chosen ones. Your parents would be one; you and your kids will be one. Itâs kind of like a royal family. Other wolves, try to kill the chosen ones, so they can be in charge. But, no one has ever succeeded. The chosen wolves can only
