to catch my breath. I looked around and saw Joe, sitting next to Larissa. Well then. I looked at the seats, looking for a seat. I was walking down the seats when I saw Krystal sitting next to an empty seat. I looked to Krystal and was surprised to see her looking at me. I smiled and she smiled back. Was it just me, or was she blushing? I started walking to where she was sitting when she moved her bag out of the empty seat next to her. I was just at the seat when Mason came up and took the empty seat next to Krystal. “I can take this seat right?” Masons said. Krystal didn’t say anything so I just took the seat in front of them, next to Lynna.

“Hi, Nick.” Lynna, the second biggest flirt next to Larissa, said.

“Hey.” I said, simply. I was trying to look back at Krystal and Mason.

“You know, it’s a three hour ride.” Lynna said.

“I know.” I said.

“You’re soo good at football, Nick. You know, I’m a cheerleader…” Lynna droned on.

“Yeah, sure.” I said, annoyed.

Then, finally, the bus took off. An hour later, I looked back. I saw Krystal, sleeping. I smiled to myself at her sleeping, calm face. The bus shifted forward a little, Krystal bumping her head on the window. She grunted softly, then was calm again. Then, I saw Marc looking at her. He reached Krystal and rested her head on his shoulder. She sighed, still sleeping, and cuddled Mason. I looked forward and then felt my phone vibrate.

Oh my gosh, dude. Krystal Jang is sleeping on me! I read a text from Marc.

You know she’s sleeping, she’s not doing it on purpose. I replied, obviously jealous.

I know, but dude, she’s so hot. He replied back.

I looked back again when suddenly the bus jolted to the side, waking Krystal up. She caught me looking at her, so I quickly looked back. I cleared my throat and moved around. I saw Joe looking at me funny so I nodded my head at him. He looked back front. I forgot about Krystal when I heard Marc start talking to her.

Krystal

“So, you want to go out?” Marc asked me. He asked me about twenty, thirty questions before this but they were nothing like this one. “No.” I said quickly. “Why not?” he asked. “I’m not into you.” I replied, lamely. I was never this tongue tied. “Come on. Why not?” He asked me again. I sighed. Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and held it. We were holding hands. I tried pulling away but his grip was so tight. Finally, we arrived. “Hey, we’re here. I got to go. Annabelle and Larissa are going to be waiting for me.” I said shortly. He didn’t say anything and continued holding my hand. I started panicking. What if other people saw?

Nick

I was listening to every bit of their conversation, Marc’s and Krystal’s. I was getting really annoyed at Mason. He was really going to get it later on. Then, I saw him grab Krystal’s hand. I tightened my jaw. I saw her trying to pull her away, her eyes full of worry. Then she said something but I didn’t pay attention. I saw him slightly tighten his grip on her hand. I knew I had enough so I stood up to take Krystal away when I felt someone go past me. I looked up and saw Joe standing in front of them. He grabbed Krystal’s hand, pulled Marc’s hand away, and held Krystal’s hand.

“Don’t you dare bother her ever again, you got that?” he glared at Marc. I would not like to be on the line of Joe’s anger. “Dude. Calm down. It was just a joke, man.” Marc said. Joe then turned and pulled Krystal away, out of the bus. I looked at them through the window. Then I walked out. I stopped a few feet behind Krystal. She was still frozen solid. Suddenly, Joe put her arms around. After a second, he pulled

away and smiled at her. I felt beat that day. One point Joe, none for me. And Joe didn’t even know that.

Krystal

“Oh my gosh, wasn’t Joe so hot, saving you?” Larissa sighed. I had to laugh and nodded. Annabelle just smiled at me and then winked.

The next day was Saturday. I was just reading magazines on my bed when I heard my phone ring. “Hello?” I said into the phone. “Hey, Krystal!” It was Annabelle. “Hey, what’s up.” I said. “I’m on my way to Nick’s house. Joe’s going to be there and I was wondering if you want to come, too.” I was taken back a little. I haven’t thought about Nick ever since the incident yesterday. “Uh okay, let me just change and I’ll meet you at your house.” I said to Annabelle. “Okay, hurry!” Annie said back.

We parked our bikes in Nick’s driveway and walked to the door. I was thinking how I should calm down and that I probably didn’t like Nick anymore when the door opened. I looked up and saw Nick at the door, smiling. “Hey.” He said, and I just melted. How his hair flopped over his right eye, and how tan he got. How his eyes looked warmly at me. And his lopsided smile, oh gosh. It just melted my heart. “Hey.” I managed to squeak out. “Hey, Nick. We’re going to come in.” Annabelle said, pushing him away. She took her shoes off and went in first, making herself at home. I went in and Nick closed the door behind me. I took off one shoe and bent down to untie the other one when I realized he was still in front of me. I tried pulling my shoe off but it wouldn’t untie because it was double knotted. “Crap.” I said under my breath but so he couldn’t hear. I looked at him and he just smiled his lopsided smile. I felt myself blush so I just looked down. I tried untying my shoes again when I smelled a whiff of cologne. Nick bent on one knee and started untying my shoe. I bit my lip, trying hard not to smile too hard. He untied my shoe and slipped it off my foot. “Thanks.” I said, shyly. “No problem.” He said. Then, Joe came from the living room. “I was wondering what was taking you so long, dude.” He said. Then he noticed me. “Oh, Krystal. You’re here too!” He smiled at me. “yep, I’m here.” I said. How much more lame can I get? I went into the living room and sat down on the couch. I saw Nick and Joe walking toward the empty spot next to me. I pretended not to notice but wished to myself that Nick would get here first. My wish came true. He came up and sat down next to me. I just smiled on the outside but screamed with joy on the inside.

“Hey, I was wondering if you want to go to Roller Coaster Land tomorrow with me, Annabelle, Chris, and Joe?” Nick asked. “Uh, I had plans with Larissa, but I can just cancel.” I said. I took out my phone and called Larissa “Larissa?” I said into the phone. “Hey, Krys.” Larissa said. “Hey, I don’t think I can make it tomorrow.” “Why?” “Nick just invited me to go to Roller Coaster Land with Annabelle, Chris, and Joe.” “Sure you can cancel..” I was confused, she wasn’t the type of girl to just let me off like that.”…if I can come too.” There was the ‘if’. Sigh. I turned to oh so lovely Nick. “Hey, uh can Larissa come too?” I bit my lip. “Uh yeah, I guess.” “Fine you can come. Gosh.” I hung up on her. “So, uh I can come pick you up tomorrow and we can walk together to Roller Coaster Land.” Nick said to me. I was in such a shock that I didn’t reply. I just stared blankly into his eyes. “I mean, uh, you don’t have to if you don’t want to…” Nick said. “No, it’s fine. I’d like to!” I said quickly. “Okay, uh what’s your number? I’ll text you when I get there.” He said. I gave him my number and he gave me his. “Cool.” Nick smiled. I smiled back. “Cool.” I said back.

I looked into the mirror, panicked. I held up in the mirror two cute outfits. A cute one piece with a choker and a brand name bag; and a mini skirt with a belly top tank top and a long bag. I went with the one piece. Then, I heard the bell ring. “Krys! Nick’s here!” I heard my older sister, Caitlin, shout. “Okay!” I shouted back. And I ran out.

Nick

The door opened to Caitlin Jang, the older and prettier version of Krystal. “You’re Nick, right? I’m Caitlin, Krystal’s older sister. Krystal’s still getting ready.

“Krys! Nick’s here!” Caitlin shouted into the house. I heard a faint “Okay!” and then Krystal
