to replant something and put it somewhere else, just because the Queen doesnât want it there anymore.â
Aralina sighed contently. Even if she had to tote a plant to a dozen places, she would be happy, for she loved plants and dirt.
âWell Iâll leave you to your unpacking, and if you need anything Iâll be down stairs trying to cook our dinner.â Aralina nodded absently still in a trance about the garden.
Megdelia chuckled as she closed the door then she sighed. âWell time to see what disaster I can make for todayâs supper.â She said to herself.

âSimolia! Simolia! I need you.â Princess Katalia called into the servant phone, âItâs urgent!â she added.
Princess Katalia, at age 17, was short and thin. She had dark brown, straight hair, and violet eyes, which (with her wings) showed her royalty. As a princess, Katalia was used to fancy affairs, important people, and big fancy dresses. With the help of her favorite servant, and her head seamstress, she had many beautiful dresses. Katalia was destined to marry a prince, and the only prince that was in a territory surrounding the kingdom, was Prince Collin, who was Kataliaâs same age, and he lived in the province of Kator.
She heard Simolia running to her room. As the raven haired beauty ran into the room seeing her mistress in tears she quickly went to her side.
Simolia was a small girl of 17, and had raven black, wavy hair. Her eyes were hazel, and her wings were gold, showing that she worked for the royal family. Her common dress was dark blue, with a white apron. Her hair, which was long, was often put up in a ponytail, so that it did not interfere with her duties.
âWhat is it your majesty.â She asked soothingly, stroking her princessâs straight dark brown/black hair.
âPrince Collin is coming for the ball this week and I donât think he notices me. And to top it off, I donât have anything new to wear.â
Simolia tried not to smile as her mistresses screwed up face as she tried to whine, but did not succeed very well.
âDonât laugh. This is serious! He and I are supposed to marry, but if he finds someone else at the ball then... then...â She burst into tears, and Simolia felt ashamed for smiling. She knew that the princess was in love with Prince Collin, but then again almost any other girl of nobility was. Even some of the peasant girls as well, but they dared not tell anyone this or they might be thrown in prison as conspiracy (which did not make any sense at all).
âIâm sorry I smiled, but... and I know you are going to disagree with me, but itâs not what you wear, but what is on the inside that counts.â
The princess followed along monotone for the last couple of words. Simolia always told her this and as always, she did listen, but then her mother told her that she did need a new dress.
Then Simolia snapped her fingers, in sudden inspiration of the mess that surrounded them both, âThatâs it!â
âWhatâs it?â the princess asked intrigued.
âWhy donât we design a dress that has never been thought of before, out of some of your old dresses?â
The princess clapped her hands in glee, because she liked that idea.
âIâll call Kaliea.â The princess anxiously said grabbing the phone cord that was connected directly to the seamstresses house.
Kaliea was a sixteen year old fairy, who was the head of the seamstresses. At age ten, she was known as the best seamstress in the province. She had silvery wings with a curly design, and had black hair with dark blue highlights. Her eyes were brown, and she often wore whatever the style was.
Kaliea came shortly latter with her sewing basket in her hand. When she opened the door she was in shock to see the room in complete disarray with dresses of every type hanging all over the place (and I do mean all over the place, even the crystal chandelier had one hanging on it) and two girls sitting in the middle of it all looking over a dress. When Kaliea cleared her throat, the girls looked up and beckoned her inside. Kaliea hesitantly came in closing the door behind her. As the girls told her what they had planned, Kaliea nodded, for she loved the idea.
âOkay, now that I know what we are doing, which dresses are we using, and what am I doing with them?â
The two other girls looked at each other and began to explain what they had been brainstorming. Kaliea nodded and quickly went to work.
The dream dress as they all called it was a mixture of the colors that fit in with royalty. The top was a light silver color that had blue and purple sparkles sprinkled all over it. The skirt was a light blue, with purple sparkles. The sleeves for the gown, which were short, were made out of bits of cloth shaped like flower petals, so the princess could move her arms around easily, and when she ate, the sleeves fell back, so that she wouldnât get them in her food. The hairdo was a problem, however. Hats were no longer in style, and the princesses hair wouldnât stay up. If it was put behind a headband, Kataliaâs bangs would stick out behind it.
Princess Katalia snapped her fingers (which she never did in public) and exclaimed. âWhy donât we go to the greenhouse? Iâm sure Octavious has something that could serve as a good hair pin, or something.â
âA real flower for your hair? I donât know about that. What if it wilts of something!â Simolia said with caution.
âItâll be fine.â The princes said with a smile.
Kaliea looked at each of the girls, and she rather sided with both of them. Therefore, when they asked her opinion she had a ready answer.
âIt does have its advantages and disadvantages. Why donât we give it a whirl, and see how it turns out? If none of us like the flowers, weâll just have to figure out something else.â
The princess readily nodded her head in agreement. As she did so some of her brown strands of hair fell down into her face. Quickly she tucked them back into place and stood. âWell what are we waiting for? Letâs go!â
Simolia quickly stood up, hurried over to the door, and opened it so that the princess could walk through. The princess rolled her eyes as if to say âYou know Iâm not that helplessâ, but none the less she said thank-you and passed through the door with Kaliea and Simolia not far behind.

âYour Majesty.â
Megdelia bowed, then seeing Aralina with her mouth opened wide she elbowed her. Aralina shut her mouth and bowed. The two girls beside the princess smiled. They were good friends of Megdeliaâs, and were pleasantly surprised when they saw the new girl open the door to the green house. She was from the country; of that they were sure of, from the way she gaped at Katalia, which the princess obviously didnât like.
âHello Megdelia, Is Octavious in?â
The princess asked motioning them to stand up she really hated it when people bowed before her even her own friends did so. In her mind, she put herself with other people, but her parents made sure that all of the staff and their people know that they were to treat their children just as if they were the king and queen themselves.
Megdelia looked up and shook her head, âNo he got called away, but Aralina is here. She is Octaviousâ apprentice.â Aralina looked at Megdelia in alarm as if to say âIâm not ready for thisâ
Megdelia gave her an encouraging nod âYou can do itâ Aralina shook her head to clear her mind. It seemed as if Megdelia spoke to her in her head. âMegdelia did you just speak to me in my head?
âWhat just happened?â Kaliea asked breaking into Megdeliaâs and Aralinaâs thoughts.
Kataliaâs face, however, took the expression of mysteriousness, but confusion. All the girls were looking at her, as if they knew that she had a secret. She needed to tell them, she decided. She needed to come clean.
âMegdelia is there someplace where we can talk privately? There is something that I must tell you.â
Megdelia nodded, and then led the way to her bedroom.
As the girls got settled Katalia began.
âA couple of months before I was born, this Man came to help my mother, who was very sick. He was a magician.
Father was concerned about me, so he wanted the magician to put Mother into premature labor. The magician knew that if he did that he might lose me, or my mother, or both, but he did it anyway with a spell in his mind, just in case things went wrong.â
She took a deep breath and continued,
âThings did go wrong, and he almost lost me, but he put a spell over me that made me think his thoughts, so that he could be a part of my body for a little while- to control my bodily functions.
A couple years later, I was in my room and I heard father talking in my head. It turns out he was planning to send one of our servants to his half-brotherâs home and send him a message. I knew what my Uncle would do to him, even though he was just the messenger, and I went to warn him. For as you know, my father and Uncle Darius despise each other. The servant fled that night. Father found out that I was the one to tell him and demanded to know how I found out. I told him that I heard him in my head. I was just six at the time. Well my father was confused, and a little shocked at what I said. He told me to tell him the next time I had that happen.â
Katalia looked around, trying to gage their reactions, but so far, they were one of understanding.
âThat didnât happen until five years later when I accidentally found out about a threat against my
